Hope this works

thought i would start a thread for those of us already in the heady World of motherhood, so we can share the trials and tribulations of the early days....

I shall start with my birth story and hope other's follow and I haven't started a dud thread

As you know I was dreading a 3rd CS, almost to the point where I was having panic attacks - we went in on the Thursday and after waiting for an EMC we were taken to theatre where I was DELIGHTED to recognise the aneathatist (sp!!) who helped deliver DS2. Now, one of my major fears about a 3rd CS was the fact that having had a "perfect" excperience with DS2, it6 wouldn't be possible to experience the same thing again...I was wroing, it was better The whole thing was started at 1315 and Tallulah was born at 1344 weighing 7lbs 2oz. She has a shock of dark hair but seems so small compared to the boys who were 9 and 10lbs respectively. The care I recieved was absolutely 2nd to none - no complaints or gripes.........So far so good.........

HOWEVER.........my god, do you forget the pain of breastfeeding before the milk comes in - I am in absolute agony and have had to top up with aptamil as the poor wee thing is so, so hungry...I am literally BF for up to 2 hours (the point of pain in both udders ) and then topping up with Aptamil. She guzzles 30ml and then settles.......As for sleep - sleep is for wimps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yay lacks you sounbd terribly organised and upbeat. Now relax.

DH has made appointment to register dinkyminky. I too have forms to fill out.

Wish I had a cleaner. DH does very well, but I hate seeing him doing it then rushing off to work. Are you leaking milk or the other end? Sorry to be gross and nosey, but I keep having fairly significant bleeds- partly just bfeeding but also I think I am overdoing it a bit. I'm very sore by the end of the day ...

Ha End Of The Day when is that, exactly??

Hope your lunch went well, lacks

Pinkyminkee · 13/11/2008 14:21

Hello ladies

I made it over! Thought DS is asleep so thought I would take this opportunity to catch up with everyone and post my birth story.

Nathan was born last friday after a 2 hr labour. I started getting 'period pains' at about 8:30am but I couldn't time them as it was just a constant ache. DH came home from school run at 9am and as I was 'breathing' through the pain he called the hospital who told him they were full so we would have to go to another hospital 1hrs drive away. He told them he didn't think we would make it so they said call for an ambulance. Ambulance arrived and then immediately got reallocated so we had to call for another one. Eventually MW and ambulance turned up around 9:30 and by this stage I was bent double and feeling the urge to push. MW examined me and told me I was already 10cms dilated and sent the ambulance away saying I would have to have a home birth. 2nd MW arrived and as I stood up I felt the overwhelming urge to push and Nathan's head crowned followed swiftly by the rest of him. He arrived at 10:10am and we got straight into bed for some skin to skin and spent all day there. It was such a wonderful experience. My MWs were so supportive and even though I was group B strep positive we made the decision to be monitored from home rather than be transferred to hospital.

The DCs came home from school at lunch time to find their new baby brother cuddled in bed. They were so chuffed.

BF is going well now my milk has finally come in. He sleeps for about 5hr stretches at night so I'm feeling a bit more human.

One quick question - how long before your lochia turned pink. Mine is still very red (day 6) and MW said it should be pink by now and I'm obviously not resting enough (I couldn't rest anymore if I tried!).

I'm going off to catch up on everyone's posts now although it may take me a while! Will try and get on most days so I can keep up to date with everyone's progress.

Congrats to all you new yummy mummies.

LadyBuzz · 13/11/2008 17:14

Wow Betti that is a fantastic story. Glad you were happy with the outcome and had a good experience

LackaDAISYcal · 13/11/2008 17:18

lunch was lovely thanks

and DS slept through it all, waking up 5 hours after he went down this morning . He then had a quick feed, and back to sleep for an hour then another quick feed. He is going to be up all night.

When we were having lunch DH and running through the things we needed to do.....chemist, supermarket, toy shop....and then DH said "jewellers"...i kept talking.....he said "jewellers" again....I kept talking......then I did a double take...."jewellers?" i asked. Well he said, you deserve that diamond .

In the end no time to get to jewellers so will go into town on Monday....heeeeheeeeeheeee.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/11/2008 17:20

Betti.....wow what an amazing story, so quick. Congratulations again

We have had some double quick births on this thread haven't we?

ChocOrange05 · 13/11/2008 17:34

Hello all, we have a name, drumroll please.........

ChocOrange05 · 13/11/2008 17:38

Mr and Mrs Choco are pleased to introduce their son...

Mack Harrison

Betti · 13/11/2008 17:47

Lacks - so at the diamond but you so do deserve it. I got mine after DS2 so guess I won't be getting another one !

chocorange love the name. Everyone has come up with lovely names for their LOs.

cricri · 13/11/2008 18:02

Betti What an amazing birth story So glad everything went so well for you and Nathan is doing well.
Lochia - mine is still quite dark. My mw didn't mention anything about changes in colour, just volume. She also said it might get heavier again days 9-10 so I'm watching out for that.
Lacks Am very of your diamond - you'll have to post some photos once you've chosen it. Have fun choosing!
Choc Lovely names

ChocOrange05 · 13/11/2008 18:04

Ohhh lacks - nice DH!!

I got a lovely bracelet from Links as a push present and I bought DH a bottle of red wine to lay down and drink with Mack (how cool I can use a name!) when he's 18.

MerryMarigold · 13/11/2008 18:16

Good name ChocO. Hope you've had a nice day.

Sorry, to clarify:

  • I do co-sleep at night. In the day they sleep in their buggy carrycots downstairs in the living room as it is the only room we keep vaguley warm during the day...
  • My babies are 22 DAYS OLD (not 16, doh!) and still no call today. I have chased them once last week and don't like hassling as really I am ok...but I think I will hassle tomorrow.

Betti, what a cool story, make it sound to quick and easy. Almost makes me think of having another .

I'm still bleeding.

My tummy muscles are over a hands width apart! so my tummy is fairly flat at the bottom (womb end) and then bumps out round where my belly button used to be. It's all a very odd shape! Loose clothes for me, then.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/11/2008 18:17

Great names ChocO

Did that come from your thread, or was it just one that came to you.

I like the idea of the red wine, and think I might just do that for all my DCs anyway, but I wouldn't know where to start and what to buy.

ChocOrange05 · 13/11/2008 18:40

i am sure i saw someone on mn use it lacks but it didn't come from the thread but that did help.

cricri · 13/11/2008 19:09

Lacks I think Dozy can help with the wine - she sounds like a bit of an expert. Burgundy or Bordeaux is best for laying down for a lengthy period. You could buy bottles from the years of their birth. That's what I plan to do for my god-daughter (born in 2007 - wine available from early 2009) and we'll do the same for DD in due course.

Heartmum2Jamie · 13/11/2008 19:31

Ohhh, here you all are! I couldn't find the thread as it doesn't say Nov 08, but followed the link from the stats thread!

I just posted my birth story over on the announcements section as it was far too long to post anywhere else. I wanted to remember every detail as I will never be doing this again.

I have not read any of the posts except what is on this page...sorry, but baby stirring and wanted to say hello quickly!

Choco, congrats again, Mack is a great name!

MM, the shape of your tummy is exactly the same as mine! I am quite surprised as my podge was lower with the other boys, but this time it is fairly flat above my pubic bone and the bump is where my belly button is, which has yet to go back because of the podge.

Daisy, I agree, you deserve a diamond, lol! Lucky woman! I am not getting a diamond, but have asked for a mothers ring for xmas, so that I can have the birth stones of all my kids on it. I thought this one in white gold with the birthstones of my boys and my angel (miscarriage)

Right, looks like it is chow time for my little man. Oh, I added a cute pic I took of him yesterday to my profile. I am soooo in love ....... sigh!

ChocOrange05 · 13/11/2008 20:13

Great birth story H2MJ although you sounded far too calm about the ctx - was it just me who found them the most unbelievable pain ever. Why does no one tell you that?!?!

Lacks I phoned the wine merchants Berry Bros and Rudd in London and told them what I wanted and the guy sent me some recommendations by e-mail. They were really helpful.

Whilst breastfeeding what can you drink? I was just going to have a small glass of wine with DH but then I am BF and Mack prob needs a feed soon so I'm not sure if I should. Anyone know what the advice is on this? Thanks!

I stood on the scales today - BAD idea!!

LackaDAISYcal · 13/11/2008 20:17

That pic is gorgeous heartmum. He looks so alert and smiley.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/11/2008 20:21

ChocO, as in pregnancy, a small glass once or twice a week is perfectly fine if you are BFing. The alcohol metabolises from your milk at the same rate it does from your blood. I had a wee glass of red at the weekend and fed Fin about two hours later.

ChocOrange05 · 13/11/2008 20:55

Brill - thanks Daisy I has a few small sips about an hour ago and then stopped as I thought he would want a feed soon but he's still not woken - his feeding patterns are quite erratic today - 10, 12.30, 3, 4, 5, 6. I assume this is normal but I feel a bit like a vending machine!!

HM2J that pic is adorable - he's such a cutey and I love the name Zac - it was on my shortlist until you used it!! (Didn't want to steal your name)

ChocOrange05 · 13/11/2008 21:27

I think my milk has come in - I was wondering if it had so I just squeezed one of my breasts and milk squirted out over the keyboard!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 13/11/2008 21:52

You'll wake up with boulders for boobs tomorrow ChocO!

MerryMarigold · 13/11/2008 21:57

LOL daisy, i had the same image!

LolaBella · 13/11/2008 22:34

Heartmum Zac is so cute, can't believe he is smiling too

Fab name too Choco we really do have great taste in names on this thread

Oblomov · 14/11/2008 09:04

Betti love the birth story
And heart2mum, what a fabarooney announcement.
Daisy, yes you do deserve a diamond.
Dh bought me a lovely pair of silver marcasite earings to celebrate the birth of Max. He offered to buy me something to celebrate, and I said actually I have seen something, he said, get it. I don't know why but I don't like the phrase 'push present'. I prefer 'birth celebration'.

ChocO, I LOVE hte name. Veyr unusual. Haven't seen that before. But really like it. ALOT. and normally I like very standard names for boys.

I had a nice glas of wine too. Yum yum. Anyone want to regale us with stories of runny eggs, pate, wine, etc e4tc. Where is foodie guru Dozy, when you need her.

Hi to MerryM. Hardly surprising re the tummy. Sympahthy though. It is early days though. It will spring back quite a bit still.
My overhang is still very hard, where it was infected. I wonder if it will stay like that ?
