OP posts:

Mitchell81 · 13/11/2008 09:58

Brownie over here too please, at least its virtual so I can actually eat it, as I am on a serious diet. Need to lose weight by the 6th Dec(DH christmas party) and then carry on for christmas.

GoodDaysAndBadDays · 13/11/2008 10:03

mitchell me too (on a diet).

Let's have a 'FMLs who need to lose weight' support group too!!!

I've been really good the last 2 weeks, lost 2.5 lbs last week, but I have my weekend away (not that I'm complaining!) and I know I'm gonna eat and drink loads!!

Mitchell81 · 13/11/2008 10:08

GDABD Glad to hear that there is another one on diet, One more night then you will be going away. How far from home are you going?

Mitchell81 · 13/11/2008 10:11

Babylove I will join your yahoo group

mumofkandj · 13/11/2008 10:11

I'd like a brownie too please! Would anyone like some virtual left over gingerbread men or parkin from last week (sorry, I ate all the real stuff!).
GDBD hugs for life being tough right now, it sounds like you've got a great group of friends to be with this weekend. Hope you have a fabulous time!

I've been VERY stressed out this week. the fridge freezer broke, worked for the repairman, then died again. The boiler is leaking again, but the man's van broke yesterday so he didn't get it all fixed. So this orning I'm waiting for the new fridge freezer to appear, and the boiler man.
We've had to move so much stuff I can't leave DD1 downstairs on her own to play ( like normal if I need to sort out DD2) and she's telling me now I'm not playing nicely....

I'm not brave enough to look outside this thread ATM! I know I'm all overenthusiastic and need freindly folk around to put up with me/ignore me without getting too offended!
Must go, J's awake.

mumofkandj · 13/11/2008 10:12

Arrgghh and didn't mention trying to pack up for a family weekend away when DH can't leave work early, so its going to start with everyone tired and hungry and not knowing where anything is in a house in the middle of the Dales. Must find out where we're going too!

GoodDaysAndBadDays · 13/11/2008 10:27

mitchell I'll be 3 hrs from home!

mumofkandj sorry to hear you've had a stressy week, do enjoy your weekend away .

Can you link us to your yahoo group babylove?

Denny185 · 13/11/2008 10:58

Less than 24 hours, not excited at all

gingerwench · 13/11/2008 11:15

GLSBTD / serious yes we tried a bumbo and DS only lasted a couple of minutes in it before arching his back and looking v uncomfortable. It's a shame because they seem an excellent idea for babies

DBM i saw a bit in the paper and couldn't read on. Just too horrible. Simply evil.

GDABD and all others feeling down whether or not officially PND - hope you feel better soon. This time of year doesn't always help does it with dark mornings and nights?

Yes please to virtual gingerbread, parkin and brownies YUM YUM baiyu how come you are so enviably slim with all your yummy baking?!

macaco · 13/11/2008 13:46

Oh God, don't talk to me about brownies!
I am sooooooooo on a diet. Put some trousers on from before pregnancy that had been really quite big and now I can barely sit in them. I'm buggered (scuse my french) if I'm going to buy anything bigger so I'm just going to have to shift some lard I was doing so well as I lost weight at the beginning of pregnancy with being sick and then didn't go to term so never got huge. When i stopped Bfing at 2 months I was quite svelte (and I have to say, probably quite sick inducing smug about it too ). I've let myself go since then and it's a biscuit here, a cake there, chocolate bar here. I'm not obese or anything but it's making me feel really really lardy.
So, it's fruit for me now.

Sorry to hear about people feeling down but I hope the FML thread can help support you.

Went to see the paed today as DS has had a little red patch on his testicle, which she said was nappy rash, so no wipes for us, only water and cotton wool and we've got some super strength E45.
Still behaving like a tooth's going to break thru any minute but nothing! Turned up his nose at avocado this morning, which isn't like him. Going to try to tempt him with some fish and butternut squash later.

xx

baiyu · 13/11/2008 14:48

Yay! Brownies on the way to all those who will let themselves (go on, they've got beetroot in them, it's one of your 5 a day!)And yes please to gingerbread and parkin mumofkandj! flick hooray for sam's tooth!

gingerwench "enviably slim?!* Goodness. Actually I am thinner than pre-preg which is very strange. It may be self neglect or walking everywhere (no car) but actually it's probably my genes. My mum was a size 16 D cup pre kids, after 3 she was a size 8-10 B cup! I don't want that to happen to me, I'd feel like a totally different person. I still have a big jelly belly so I'm a good way off being slim I fear but that's just fine for now! Tomorrow I'm making parsnip, walnut and lemon cake (really into veg cake experimentation at the moment!)

gdabd Glad you gave a supportive HV, hope her and your DH will help you get it all out in the open so you can tackle it head on. Good luck.

DBM I'm ignoring the papers too, I'd only cry but glad there is sufficient outrage regardless.

mumofkandj Good luck with getting everything done and enjoy your wknd away? Where are you going?

Went to the cinema this morning, I love these mum and babies screenings!

babylove21 · 13/11/2008 16:18

For anyone wanting to join the group here is the link uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Homewithbaby

gdabd i was supposed to visit my daughter today but decided against it because i am full of a cold. When i rang to apologise she said she was making brownies!! must be something in the air.

I have one of those sad lamps, its only a small one but i think i am going to give it a go, i think if i leave it by the pc i ought to get at least an hour of natural light

Are we more sensitive because we have young children? i had to turn over and not watch the news last night because i can't bear to listen to any of it. and then during my sleepless night i put the tv on and the argument in parliment was being aired on beeb2, i couldnt stop listening but wished i had not turned it on as i then lay there in tears trying to sleep its too awful for words.

gingerwench i'm one of those naturally slim and it can cause just as much anxiety as the opposite. I struggle to keep weight on, i'm healthy at the mo but in the past i have been a stone underweight. I find im not a comfort eater but the opposite, i lose my appetite or i snack on sugary energy foods that are burnt off in mins.A D cup will only ever be in a dream lol, at best i'm an A and thats generous lol.

What is the baby cinema ?

babylove21 · 13/11/2008 16:22

Oh forgot to say. today i offered yesterdays tea again to dd. Mash with lamb ( removed from the hotpot i made). she had 3 mouthfuls before she cried but she did at least swallow those mouthfuls. I didnt offer the porridge, just gave her a bottle after of which she drank all of it. and gdabd i think the idea of having a few days off weaning is superb, thanks. I'm going to take the weekend off

thefortbuilder · 13/11/2008 17:20

babylove i've joined your group - approve me please!!!

i am (very proud to admit) a smaller size than when pg with ds1 who is 2.4 now. i am wearing the same size jeans as when a tuni (i'm now 33). but......i eat barely anything during the day with the boys and had a decent meal in the evening. not very healthy but i don't get the chance to eat during the day really so it keeps the weight off.

not much else to say that's constructive - gdabd have a lovely weekend I am very envious

mumofkandj · 13/11/2008 17:43

Baiyu we're going to a cottage in the Dales a bout half an hour from Skipton up towards Settle.Well, I say cottage but its a huge family trip- DH's parents, his sister and her husband, and his brother and his duaghter and us four. DH's sister has stayed there before and talked it up as agreat place for us all. I'm stressed as when I go on holiday I spend about a week packing- but I'm packing for 4, I've not got much put together as sooo much of what we need is what we use every day so I have to get it all done before I get DD1 home at lunchtime from nursery, and then entertain them both until DH can get away from work....I'm sure it'll be fine but I think I wish I was doing GDABD weekend instead!

I think Hebden Bridge cinema is planning on doing baby screenings sometime soon (if they aren't already).I understand that children are expected to be noisy, they even turn the volume down (I'd go for that without kids!) and its whatever they usually put on in the evening.
Forgot to say, I opened a pot of plum baby food the other day and J ate it ALL, and she'd already had some pasta! Rather shocked at the quantity...
must go, both noisy now

TheSeriousOne · 13/11/2008 17:50

I've joined too, Babylove...
Can I just have a little rant about Ebay please? I know it's totally off topic, but why do people think it's OK to bid (and win) an item and THEN change their mind... I appreciate that they can leave me -- feedback and I can't do that to them, but it's so bloody selfish. I list everything at a price to sell and honour ALL bids, but it gets to me when people bid an item up and then don't pay - I have to pay listing AND final value fees and then ZIP...

I have 4 items at the moment where the buyers have simply changed their mind after bidding...

RRgghh!!! Rant over.

I'm also struggling to find the time to all the work I need to do - my boss decided today that actually a consultancy service isn't what they want to offer - it's an information service which means I'm going to have to work all weekend (well, when DS is asleep YKWIM) to get it finished by Monday...

Why on why doesn't Motherhood pay better???????

Sorry, that was totally off topic really wasn't it????

TheSeriousOne · 13/11/2008 17:55

That would be why OH why....

thefortbuilder · 13/11/2008 18:10

TSO can you put that you will leave negatice feedback for them?

sorry nothing else helpful to add - ds1 is getting silly when i leave the room and coughing so hard when he is crying he is retching.

baiyu · 13/11/2008 18:12

babylove baby cinema is normal cinema but with babies and usually in the morning. I love it. there's two cinema's that do it near me one is £2 and the other is £3 with free coffee! Always at 10.30am, the sound is lower and only once has it been a nightmare (boring film played too quietly so lots of screaming babies) but I've been at least 10 times and it's usually ace. See if there's one near you, I totally recommend it!

TheSeriousOne · 13/11/2008 18:16

No, Flick Buyers can no longer leave negative feedback for buyers. And, I've just had one seller contact me - SHe wanted me to send something to Denmark (I only ever send things to the UK, because Paypal demand things are sent recorded delivery)... I explained that I couldn't gaurantee recorded delivery and she was fine with that - but guess what??? SHe's saying it hasn't arrived and wants her money back (which Paypal will give her because I can't prove delivery only postage). Pathetic. AM feeling totally whacked abotu the whole thing...

Baiyu - Bab cinema sounds so great - I can't believe there isn't anything like that around here, but I can't find anything!!

baiyu · 13/11/2008 18:24

Oh no serious! That's hellish. Hope you get it sorted, it's meant to be so safe but clearly isn't. Cross post so didn't see that before. If you look at picturehouse cinemas, they all do it I think, usually places that show arty films rather than blockbusters.

TheSeriousOne · 13/11/2008 18:39

Well, today is just getting better and better.... ANyone who says that having a baby isn't career suicide is bloody lucky, that's all I can say.

I've just been turned for a job that I was TOTALLY qualified for, on the basis that there were 'more suitable candidates' Might as well read 'Candidates that don't have 5 month old babies to look after'

I have to say, I have SO MUCH MORE respect for women on benefits now. It's easy to say 'get a job' but when the only work you can get pays peanuts and the government then take any benefits off you for the crime of, err... working, it really doesn't stack up. Seriously (No pun intended) I have 3 degrees and I am struggling to find decently paid work. It's just mad.

baiyu · 13/11/2008 19:20

To join in your rant oh serious one (and I totally agree), you can't even get income support if you have a degree as you "should be available for work" when your baby is 15 weeks old. I only found out I could get it at all when DS was already 10 weeks old. (if you don't have any further education apparently you can get it til your child is 7). If I have a job and a childminder has a job then the government is happy but I would probably have to pay a childminder more than I could earn right now (and I don't want to go back to work just yet anyway). The whole system is a mess IMO, so many people just fall through the gaps.

GoodDaysAndBadDays · 13/11/2008 19:24

serious I use paypal all the time and never send things by recorded delivery?

I know you can't leave negative feedback in response to them leaving you neg feedback, i.e. if an item isn't up to scratch, but have you tried leaving neg feedback? If not, contact ebay, it seems very unfair that they don't pay etc and you can't reflect that.
Try posting on the MN ebay thread, I'm sure there are a lot of people on there who use ebay a lot who can help you (but don't get into any fights !).

I had a result on ebay today. I bought a BNWT dress from monsoon....when it arrived it was awful. So frumpy...definitie impulse buy! I put it on today to re-sell it at £10 buy it now, as that's what I paid for it, and someone bought it within 5 mins of me listing it!!!

Had a lovely time with my friend over from the US. They had their very very cute 4 month old baby with them, who is very dinky and petite like my DD1 was, but she made DD2 look like Phil Mitchell (she does actually look a little bit like Phil Mitchell anyway ).
It was great to see them, but I can't help worrying about them building a rod for their own back with baby. She is the most precious PFB I have ever seen! They literally constantly hold her, and if one of them needs a wee, the other one holds her. She never gets put down, she never sleeps much in the day cos she is quite happy being cuddled all day. They did try and put her down to bed for the night at 10pm and she cried and literally within seconds her DH was dashing upstairs to get her again. I wanted to subtley drop Dr Marc's sleep book in their luggage! It seems to be OK for them at the moment but I am worried she could be difficult in the future. Eeek! She didn't go to bed til 11pm . My two were in bed by 7pm .

Anyway, it's just HOURS now til the tesco totty weekend away...yippeee! I have a few emergency tops from my sis to wear out as last night I realised I have nothing to wear out to a club (hmmm, probably cos I don't go clubbing anymore ). The girls are all furiously texting each other....'what are you packing??!!' There's 6 of us going. That crazy woman denny text me to ask if I'm taking gym gear to do a work out.......erm....let me think about that, no! Work out? She's delusional with tiredness!

I had a good day today and feel great (obviously something to with the next few days coming up!)

DH has just gone to Sainsburys (don't tell Tescos!) to get us some goodies and we are gonna watch a DVD .

Might check in later as I have stuff ending on ebay tonight, otherwise, have a good weekend all of you....will be thinking of you!

LM xxx

Delusional with tireness [Grin] - Have a WONDERFUL time GDABD - glad you got some clothes!!!

Baiyu It's crap isn't it? the harder the try, the higher the bar is raised... It's so annoying. I can't believe that (given how much tax I've paid) I'd lose the pittance I currently get if I work more than 4 days a month... That's the thanks I get for WANTING to go back to work. I didn't know about Income Support, but it doesn't surprise me... You spend your life training (and earning next to nothing) to find that all it's gotten you is a lifetime of drudgery...

Ah, well, our babes are worth it... Best get on with some work!!!
