hi lollyheart, refusing one breast can sometimes be overcome by using rugby ball hold when feeding from that breast, tricks them into thinking its the other one! worth a try!

lollyheart · 28/10/2008 21:46

Thanks minkersmum i have started a thread in breast and bottle feeding and a few people have said about the rugby hold i will give it a go.

Hopefully Contact PALS at the hospital you gave birth. You might have to pay (£50 max). Alternatively you could ask for a debrief/feedback session wrt your birth and they may offer to either send the notes to you in advance or photocopy them on the day.

I'd recommend you get a hold of them though because understanding WHY you tore can help you plan carefully for next time. A C/section may still be what you choose but you'll be able to think about/explore alternatives too. Teleporting hasn't yet been used in childbirth but when a company gets a move on and invents it I'll be buying shares!

Meglet To top it all we're doing a joint Christening in between . Think I'm gonna say no presents ta!

Star1ightExpress · 28/10/2008 22:04

potxola Is this your face: ? You have my sympathy. I feel like recording my voice saying 'no'over and over again, putting it on an ipod and then sellotaping the earpieces to DS's ears!

Poor little sausage.......

DebitheScottishGhoul · 28/10/2008 22:13

potxola · 28/10/2008 22:19

Debi I took one just before the C-section
Digitalgirl Do you have the Cossatto or the Mothercare bedside cot? Where did you buy it from? She has been sleeping all day, waking up every 4 hrs more or less to feed.
I have just realised I have lost my Visa. I went to the post office with the pram trying to control my 4 yr old and I must have left it there. I have just cancelled it. I am so tired, I guess I am lucky that is the only thing that went wrong in my outing (the post offce is only 2 min from my house)

Star During lunch, I told him of for not feeding himself properly (while her sister was crying) so many times that he cried and I ended uo crying too. I am so overloaded.

Star1ightExpress · 28/10/2008 22:23

Fecking stop that fecking hammering you knob wot lives next door to me. Even if I didn't have a fecking newborn this is not the time to be doing DIY!!!!

lollyheart · 28/10/2008 22:27

Debi my period started yesterday aswell .
I am getting the implant tomorrow so i wont have another one for about 3 years

I have a friend that has periods while ebf so i think its normal.

Potxola DS has speech delay, but is so excited at having learned the parts of the body he keeps wanting to poke his sister while she is feeding 'arm', 'knee', 'elbow', 'mouth', but when he said 'eye' and poked her quite hard IN the eye I knocked him away so hard he flew across the room .

He is irritating me soooooooo much at the moment, but then I remember he's not even 2 and the guilt just eats me. Can you get a friend with or without a kid to come over so your DS has attention and company? Are things okay when it is not half-term or do you have to completely rethink your strategy?

lollyheart · 28/10/2008 22:30

at the knob who lives next door to you star some people have no respect.

OP posts:
Star1ightExpress · 28/10/2008 22:33

Star1ightExpress · 28/10/2008 23:13

Lollyheart, I think yours may be too little, but my dad used to get us up in the middle of the night when it snowed, wrap us up warm and take us out for a snowball fight.

We'd be in trouble with all the neighbours the next day though for the noise and their poor kids used to watch us from their bedroom windows in their pjs!

potxola · 29/10/2008 00:11

Starlight Your son is so young, only 2! You brave second time mothers with first sons/daughters so young!!!!
My ds could not have cope with having a sister at 2. He only has recently been potty trained.
Some weeks ago a mother friend (Which is not the same as a friend, you know what I mean)came with her 2 kids and they stayed for almost 4 hrs leaving every toy on the floor. It took me ages to tidy up. The Thomas the tank train truck was all destroyed. I was tired for 2 days. I was ok for a couple of hours, but it went for too long, after all my baby was only 4 weeks. My lovely straight talking son asked them to go after 1.5 hrs. He had enough of them just taking everything apart, something he is not allowed to do. My sitting room has big shelves were all the toys are stored, except the train truck which is always on the floor. It looks always like a nursery, but they left it in a real state.

lollyheart · 29/10/2008 09:39

How lovely star
I was so tempted to wake them but they are only nearly 4 and 2[hgin]
we are going out to build a sonw man in a bit better hurry up tho the sun is coming out

i, too have a toddler, 25months nearly. and i agree, star, it can be irritating at times cos i can't say "no" enough! and other times, he's wanting to poke ds2 in the eyes and tug on other body parts while shouting the body part name. and now, he's grown a liking to playing "this little piggie" with toby's little toes. OH, and the scariest thing ds1 likes to do is bounce the back of toby's bouncy chair ...and its quite hard too! i know he doesn't really understand how to bounce him gently, but it just goes to show we really have to be careful about leaving them alone in the same room, even for a second!

(((ds1 is quietly enjoying Mr Tumble go on & on about baby animals...hence, me having the time to post this)))

lolly awwww! i'm about you having snow! did it stick this morning? i lurve snow!! and fynn's just at the age to really start enjoying it and wanting to play in it. shame really, cos i've heard im in a seaside are that will probably never get snow that actually sticks. ((but perhaps there's hope yet as the weather sure has been doing all sorts of odd things lately...))

mamapumpkin · 29/10/2008 10:36

Hello guys .

Trying to keep up with the thread.

Firstly can you please Send the faries my way! My ocd of cleaning is a distant memory.

Oh and I would quite like a bit of snow too

Having the same problems/traumas as most of you, which is fantastically reassuring. (sorry guys)

My dad is recovering well from his op following his heart attacks but remains in greece. Not sure when they are allowed to fly but I wont truly relax till there back.

I think the men having the snip are allowed to much R&R. I think alot of us where not given the 72 hour bedrest after we pushed massive babies out of our bits. .

Let me know how the implant goes lolly I want one too I think.

Euey is such a pudding. Feeds fab and is now sleeping thru no problems. A miracle really!

However, Its a shame my 4 year old isnt . He turns up in our room with his pillow and teddies most nights expecting to just jump in, which is fine excepts he often wets the bed. (alot of hard work). He often will not feed himself either.
But, He is being a fab big brother so pateint and watches euey while I shower and do house stuff and is as gentle as can be. He tells him he loves him and spends hours trying to make him laugh, it is so lovely to see.

Catch up soon guys xx

MuwahahahaMom · 29/10/2008 11:08

ok, need another opinion...

((not related to sept/oct baby))

dh's co-worker gave us a bed frame to use for ds1 since we'll be needing the cotbed back soon for ds2. now, he gave us the foam mattress along with it.

i was as bit errr...skeptical about using the mattress as i'm just weird about things like that and perhaps its just been embedded into my head that its a no-no for small children/babies. DH is convinced he can "steam" clean it. while the thought just grosses me out completely.

the history of the mattress/bed so far as i know, coworker used it for 2 of his kids, and even then it was given to them second hand so its been used by at least 3 other kids! ((((instert grossed out face))) the thought makes me cringe.

i shouldn't even be having this debate or even posting this question, i know. but i suspect i'm just looking for a bit more to add to my argument to dh?

DebitheScottishGhoul · 29/10/2008 11:26

muwahahahahahahahahahamom I'm not a big fan of cleaning and don't care about a bit of dirt around but I wouldn't use a mattress that has already been used by 3 other children. Apart from it possibly being a bit minging it will also be moulded into the shape of the last child so might not be very comfy for yours. I think mattresses are something where its worth getting a good sprung one. And a top cover that zips off is a very very good idea.

We have snow too and its still here. I couldn't believe it I looked outside last night and saw the big fat flakes falling.
It must have then frozen as its now very crunchy and is still there even though the sun is now shining.

MuwahahahaMom · 29/10/2008 13:03

the whole thought just makes me cringe, really. ok so its one thing to sleep in a bed at a hotel thats been used by goodness knows how many people....but since this is for my child, who will be sleeping on it day in day out, i think it goes without saying, really.

now...off to make dh see my point .

on another note totally nothing to do with our dc;s...is anyone else a bit baffled as to why something so petty as the ross/brand phone call is making headline news for 3 solid days now!?!?!? now, really though, the girl they were joking about is "aspiring to be a glamour model". this is soooo petty, i swear!!! who cares!!??? (((she must really be desperate for a few magazine covers)))

MuwahahahaMom · 29/10/2008 13:08

ok, and one more thing about that...
i'm watching bbc news now so its really getting my panties in a bunch...

ok so the interview of the grand-daughter in question, anyone see how she was dressed? im not against sexy dressing, but come on! Don't go on national telly and say things like: i'm sooo offended about how they spoke of me, blah blah blah" dressed like you are grateful for the attention!

ok. rant over. ((if i'm the one being petty with arguing all this, i'm sorry!))

DebitheScottishGhoul · 29/10/2008 13:52

just back from taking ds2 for his 1st lot of injections. It was very untraumatic and very quick. We didn't even have time to sit down before we were called in. Was very glad of that esp as ds1 is full of the cold today and hasn't stopped coughing all day and I felt mean dragging him there when all he wanted to do was sleep.
