Sounds fastinating Caz

Oh no - I missed the programme POTC I was in bed before 8.30 last night Anyone record it? I'd be very interested to watch.

re your mum SOL. Great that they have the private healthcare thingy though Praying that there would be news soon, they need to know something for definite now, don't they!!? xxxx

Hoping D is better soon, Pesha - we've been having similar probs with P lately - I am putting it down to teething and general "not-well-ness". xx Hope all goes well with blood tests for N too, you poor things!! Emmlar cream is great, hope it works (I always have it too when I have needles cos I am a wuss )

PillockOfTheCommunity · 10/10/2008 12:13

Had a phonecall from M's dad. He is no longer employed. They ignored the people who offered voluntary and chose others instead

Have taken some time of next week, need a break from the office and it's a slow week for me work-wise as it's mid month.

That's ridiculous!(and illegal?) Hope SOL has something to say!
Although hopefully it will have a silver linign about keeping his options open, and he can move with you and will get something quickly

PillockOfTheCommunity · 10/10/2008 12:34

The guy that volunteered has been there over 20 years, no prizes for guessing why they didn't take him up on it

I didn't know what to say when he rang, was trying to be practical and sensible about it rather than fussing (which we all know I'm not great at doing anyway, except for with a select few !) and that was wrong, he wanted me to be all sympathetic and lovely. Have promised him a big hug to make up for it!

OH dear POTC

What time is your interview?

CaptainDippy · 10/10/2008 12:47

Oh no POTC to all.

Bramshott · 10/10/2008 13:44

Oh dear POTC

SOL - hope your mum can get some answers soon and that it's all fine. Really hope she is just down because it's been dragging on.

Pesha/Dippy/SMB - O is a bit like that at the moment too (waking up screaming etc) and I've put it down to teeth because I can see those sharp ones between the front ones and the molars starting to push through her gums. She is up a few times a night crying, and needs us to find her bear (which is in the cot somewhere) and give it back to her. Half makes me wish she didn't have a comforter, but I suppose she'll be old enough to find it for herself soon. N never had one - anyone got any experience or suggestions (short of tieing him to her pajamas!)

Caz - that actually sounds quite interesting!! Did you find your keys?

PillockOfTheCommunity · 10/10/2008 13:48

not until later, I'm still at work at mo. Can't say on here when or where it is

OP posts:
cazboldy · 10/10/2008 14:50

Bramshott - James found the spares, but the others haven't turned up yet!

POTC - Well good Luck anyway x

oooggs · 10/10/2008 19:27

evening

hope it went well ellie

Jack is a pain at night a mixture of teeth/cough/cold - mine have all had muslin squares as comforters (no idea why) James still has his at bedtime.

caz - meat in the slow cooker? isn't that good for cheap cuts

I have been for acupuncture this evening for tiredness & asthma - no idea if it is working, but it is half an hour laid down on my own with my eyes shut so that has to be worth the £2.30 parking

SharpMolarBear · 10/10/2008 19:41

Definitely oooggs!
Anyone else around?

Sexonlegs · 10/10/2008 19:48

Hi folks

Oooggs, that sounds blissful Hope it helps.

Caz, so, time well spent last night then!

POTC, how did it go? Sorry about M's dad. Can understand why they didn't take the guy with 20 yrs service up on his desire to be made redundant! I assume M's dad has been given notice etc etc.

Erm... brain emptied sorry!

I am so so so tired today.

Thanks for all your kind words re my Mum. She should hopefully get an appointment with the gastro doc early next week so they can start to look at what is going on.

Went to Becky's Harvest Festival assembly today, and it was lovely. All the classes had something to present, and B did really well - very proud of her. Managed to hold back the tears - just!

How is everyone this evening? Plans for the weekend?

Pesha · 10/10/2008 19:53

Oooggs - hope it does work but even if not it'll still do you good to have that dedicated relax time. Although possibly slightly more relaxing at home in bed without the pins being stuck in you

Sorry to hear so many babys having bad nights and general unwellness at the moment. Although slightly reassuring to hear lots of us going through same thing iykwim.

Caz - I cooked a stew for 4 hours ish the other day! Although you're right I just buy a pack or 2 of stewing steak, that or chicken or turkey, wouldn't know what to do with anything else. I do love a good stew and dumplings though and so do all the dc which is good cos I always pack it full of veg and beans and stuff.

Emla cream was fun The leaflet I found at GP's said you can buy a pack with the patches to go with it at pharmacist but pharmacist never heard of such a thing Rang hospital to ask and they said just wrap cling film round it - easier said than done! They also said they were finishing just after 3 so I had to collect N from school early, sit him on the wall out the front and proceed to try and wrap cling film all around his arm in the wind and then tape with micro pore tape stuff. Had to tell him he had robot arms to try and make the fact that he couldn't actually bend them seem fun!! Not sure if the cream worked as well as it could have if done properly but he didnt cry at all when they took blood, just winced a bit which was a big relief. And was very interested in her putting his blood in the little pots and asked how much she had taken and generally very curious and not at all squeamish! Now just have to wait for results.

Why cant they ever just go straight to sleep??? I'm being called again

SharpMolarBear · 10/10/2008 20:06

Any idea when he will get results?

Pesha · 10/10/2008 20:14

They said a week or so as some of them will have to be sent off. But said I need to talk to gp really as he referred N for tests so results will have to come from him. Will ring up middle of next week and ask. Hate waiting!

Hows you?

oooggs · 10/10/2008 20:19

bump photo on profile - wide angle lens alert!

SharpMolarBear · 10/10/2008 20:23

Ahh oooggs your DCs are lovely
(as is DC4, from what I could tell )

I know Pesha, it's horrible waiting when it just plays on your mind. There must be a better system!

SharpMolarBear · 10/10/2008 20:23

Wow only 16 weeks to go

SharpMolarBear · 10/10/2008 20:24

That was aimed at oooggs, not Pesha, sorry

Eddas · 10/10/2008 20:49

evening

glad you found some keys caz. I hate losing things

SOl, fingers crossed your mum gets some answers soon

POTC, ho did the job interview go?

oooggs, lovely bump glad you got 1/2 an hours peace, every little counts!

Hi everyone else

I'm so busy atm, it's a nightmare.

Still searching for a childminder. the one is was very excited about was a complete waste of time but I have plenty of time.

Do any of you use an after school club for the older dc? I'm going to visit the one that dd could use in a week. I had discounted it as an option, but dd loves older kids, so it's worth a look. Plus I think they do a holiday club which may be invaluable, and if she already knows kids from going after school that'd be good. I'm just not sure if it may be too much what with her satrting school and everything. I'm going to think up questions to ask and try to keep an open mind

Bramshott · 10/10/2008 20:54

I'm here!! DH is away again this w/e

Eddas · 10/10/2008 21:08

where's he gone bramshott? work or pleasure?

Bramshott · 10/10/2008 21:19

He's gone walking in the Black Mountains.

Pesha · 10/10/2008 21:34

Love your pics Oooggs - can't believe only 16 weeks to go Although will prob go a lot slower for you than for us!

Eddas - no after school clubs here I'm afraid but I would love it if there were. Can't really help though sorry.

Feeling very cold and shivery and now all achey down my back and round my ribs I really dont want to get ill, I haven't got time!!!
