Tallulah, we have always slept with the dcs under our duvet. I know it's not supposed to happen, but they would never overheat in this house, it is bloody freezing! I am a light sleeper of the highest degree as well, so I know I would never roll on them or smother them. They didn't sleep in the middle when they were tiny either. They slept on my side. Dp is a seriously heavy sleeper and I wouldn't trust him next to a tiny baby. I think you have to use your instincts and figure out what's safe for you. Sputnik has a side cot, maybe that could be an option for you?

HollyWeen · 14/10/2008 22:17

I think I should see if we can get our cot at the side of our bed. That might be a solution for the sleeping thing for us.

TALLULAHBELLE · 14/10/2008 22:25

DH was always worried if we had DD in the bed but sometimes I'd bring her in for a feed then we'd both fall asleep. It was a great way to multi-task. Still with 2, one would have to be in the middle as I will need to tandem feed.

LackaDAISYcal · 14/10/2008 22:44

My friend swears by these, but they only do little baby sizes unfortunately.

Ohforfoxsake · 14/10/2008 22:51

we arranged the pillows so baby was higher up the bed than us, but we are both short-arses. When it came to feeding I just dragged her down the bed to me. Also helped to turf DP out.

Have just spent all night trying to get my ipod connected to my wireless bloody clueless! Keeps asking me for fecking password.

And, I've been on the phone to Sky to complain about my astronomical phone bill, 20 numbers I couldn't recognise which cost LOADS.

After I got off the phone to them, I realised that my laptop broke and I had to use the old dial-up connection for a couple of days. Oops!

LackaDAISYcal · 14/10/2008 22:57

oops indeed foxy...have they agreed to reimburse you for the calls? If so...result

I did something similar with my credit card. I had been charged for a late payment but was set up for a Direct debit payment so shouted at them.....it was around the time I had a new card issued and they agreed that because of this the payment obviously wasn't taken off, so they reimbursed me and gave me a £10 credit for the interest/inconvenience. It wasn't until I came off the phone that I realised it was my other card that I have the DD with and it had actually been my fault . I didn't tell them though.

No such luck, I mentioned small children playing games using 'the red button'. So they told me to look into it and take it up with Ofcom. But bugger me, I only used it for two days, and its massive!

Luckily DP isn't here, so I've come full circle on it without him knowing (he pays for it by DD so will never know!). I am going to bin that old PC forthwith!

What a waste of an evening.

LackaDAISYcal · 14/10/2008 23:05

ah well, at least he is none the wiser. I am such a sap about these things that I always own up!

Feeling really glum and hormonal tonight...have been crying at lots of things. Had the mother and father of all contractions earlier but just the one. I'm definately in for the long haul on this one I think!!

Do you feel like you've been PG forever Daisy?

I remember feeling like that with DS2.

LackaDAISYcal · 14/10/2008 23:07

And I've dug out the little cardi that my secret stork sent me for DD....it made me cry too as it is so small and lovely. It's nice to have another baby to wear it as well

this seems to have gine really quickly tbh.....just these last weeks that have dragged a bit. I think life slows down to your pace when you are pregnant though.

Its hard graft Daisy, but we get through it

I'm off to bed.

By the way, who's up for Secret Santa this year?

You know how I just love Christmas, and it is October now so I'm allowed to talk about it!

X

LackaDAISYcal · 14/10/2008 23:23

count me in for secret santa....but for the mums only this year and not the kiddies; they will get plenty from rellies and friends

OP posts:
Izzybel · 14/10/2008 23:24

How long have you got left Daisy? A few of my friends are pregnant at the moment. I wished they'd sod off and stop it coz it's making me want another and we can't afford to at the moment . I keep going gooey at the tiny clothes in Tesco. Oh well, at least I can give their tiny babies a cuddle when they arrive!

JammyOLantern · 15/10/2008 08:18

Morning all. I'm also in for Secret Santa please!! I was going to mention those sock ons but I see I've been beaten to it. And I recommend Ralph Lauren socks myself. We were given some when Jamlet was tiny and they stayed on far far better than any of the others.

LackaDAISYcal · 15/10/2008 08:54

morning jammy

ooooooh ralph lauren, hark at you

I missed you last night izzy......three weeks , although I had about four or five really bitey contractions last night, but they didn't amount to anything . I'm currently thinking I'll go before my due date, but........that is probably just tempting fate and virgil will say "ha! that's what you think mum", and turn up two weeks late!! From what I've read on here, boys tend to be later than girls...typical lazy men that they are going to be

Yes get me indeed! Didn't stop he getting poop on them though which tickled DH no end. Like I said we were given them along with a zillion other pairs of (more mundane) socks from a friend. I suspect that they may have been a gift to them originally, as my friend is pretty practical and down to earth, and most of the others were Next or nameless.

DH's interview started at 9 this morning. Fingers crossed everybody!! He looked very smart in his suit I must say.

LackaDAISYcal · 15/10/2008 09:10

lol, I like the new name storm....or should I say Elvira?

Sorry to hear you've been poorly but I hope you enjoyed your trip.

And I second a modestly priced Secret Santa.

JammyOLantern · 15/10/2008 09:13

OK, Jamlet obviously isn't going to nap so I'd better go retrieve her from her cot. Catch you later ladies...

LackaDAISYcal · 15/10/2008 09:17

Good Luck to JAmmy's DH

DH has handed his notice in . He spoke to his MD yesterday, who is quite keen to "release him from his contract" early (to avoid having to pay him, no less ), so given that he is booked for paternity leave in three weeks and has nearly three weeks holiday to take, he could be home for good in three weeks time . He needs to talk to the new lot to sort out a start date, but he thought the middle of December, which means I'll have him home for about six weeks before starting the new job. He even talked about getting the living room decorated in that time so it's done for Christmas . I'll believe it when I see it, but the fact he will be around for us when the baby is new is just bloody brilliant.
