Right, off to hop in the shower & then taking my oldest girls to the dump ...

Sexonlegs · 27/09/2008 09:06

Morning

POTC, I'll wear anything!!

Dippy, lovely pics K looks so demure and ladylike. Bless her heart.

Sorry you are having trouble with dd2. It is so exhausting isn't it. B just doesn't listen and is so rude to me; I was never ever like that as a child. Enjoy the trip to the tip!!!

Hi Luce. How are plans for moving?

Hi SPB, hope you are ok this morning and happier with T.

Good luck at M&S Bramshott [mad woman]!!! I see lots of bribes as the way forward!

Hope everyone else is ok. All ok here.

CaptainDippy · 27/09/2008 09:16

She is a fiesty lady from what I've seen SOL - a strong personality, it'll stand her in good stead in the future, it just needs to be handled carefully now. I have one black baby you can have - it's a bit dodgy looking and I won't be upset if it doesn't come back You interested?DD1 - demure & ladylike

Eddas · 27/09/2008 10:13

morning x

CaptainDippy · 27/09/2008 17:54

Gosh - last post at 10am

Going to outlaws for dinner tonight - was quite excited - looking forwad to nice hot meal (meat, pots, veg etc) that I hadn't cooked. Was informed my MIL that we're having Spanish Omlettes & salad- WTF!!!!!?

I despair!!

NorthernLurker · 27/09/2008 18:29

Hi all

Oh dear Dippy - spanish omelette is very disappointing! I love your pictures - believe me - one minute dd1 is just a little thing in reception and the next she's a huge year 6 and going away next week on an adventure holiday!!!

Pesha - sorry the childcare has been such a nightmare. It is very hard. I am only managing fulltime work because a) I found a lovely nursery for B, b) that nursery is very close to the girls school, c) that school has after school, breakfast and holiday clubs, d) that school is close to work and e) my work offer childcare vouchers and have arranged discounted places with after school and holiday care. Without one of those pieces the whole house of cards would collapse! Hope you can get sorted with something soon.

Runny - hope you've had a bit more sleep in the last few nights? Poor little W.

GM - hope you're having a great weekend

Caz - hope Caitlin has a more settled week at school.

SOL - I don't think you're being unreasonable about K. Our babies are still very young, just because they can eat toast and muffins and scambled eggs doesn't mean we have to wave them off at the station with their luggage for a month in Tuscany. Iyswim
My in-laws are brilliant - but I was still like a cat on hot bricks when fil was supervising bathtime. (this was with the older two when they were maybe five and two)

Elkie - hope the pain eases soon.

POTC - sounds exciting - I will Watch This Space!

We've had a really nice day today. Been to a country fair which we all enjoyed, bit of a picnic and dh and I bought a lovely wooden footstool thing. He's gone to do a few things at church now and will be bringing chinese home later as today is our 11th wedding anniversary As we were on our way out of town today we stopped at the postbox and in front of a nearby pub I saw a groom and best man etc having a pre wedding beer and photos. So I went over and told him it was my anniversary and wished him well - he looked a bit startled but pleased Probably was hoping that his bride isn't as mad as me after 11 years though

B is lovely atm, eating really well and feeding herself very messily competently. She has a lot of words - or word like sounds and nursery keep commenting on how chatty she is. My work is going well, really interesting and I just enjoy being there. Life is very busy though and i feel bad for not catching up here properly! I do come on mumsnet quite a bit but it's often just a quick scan, post and run

Anyway that's about all from here - except to say I'm ridicuously pleased because I got a fab new changing bag from TKMAXX (£20 instead of £78 supposedly) yesterday. It's a little company one with a gorgeous lining and very smart cream colour on the outside with leather trim. I LOVE it and it's isn't really going to be used as a changing bag cos I don't really need that anymore - more just a big family bag. Dh rolled his eyes but I told him it was my treat to myself for my new job so he shut up. Wonder how long I can get away with that one.......

CaptainDippy · 27/09/2008 19:00

Happy Annniversary NL and Mr NL Glad everything is going well & you are enjoying the new job

Must dash and get ready for my snack with the outlaws

CaptainDippy · 27/09/2008 19:01

... should've said snack dinner with the outlaws.

NorthernLurker · 27/09/2008 19:26

it's a snack Dippy - don't be fooling yourself!

oooggs · 27/09/2008 20:05

Happy Anniversary NL & Mr NL

nice dresses ellie would my belly look it in it?

bramshott - hope M&S went well

I'm stumped now!

Bramshott · 27/09/2008 20:37

We survived M & S thank! Although due to crap planning on my part it was 11.00 before we left home, leading to us arriving home at 1.45 with O screaming in the back of the car because she'd finished all the snacks! I've decided that for older kids, M & S stock nothing at all that they would ever choose themselves, and just stuff that grandparents would love to buy them as gifts. Loads of educational stuff and craft things, but none of the revolting pink tat that N would choose herself (!). Hence we got O a nice shopping set with a till in M & S, but I let N go to Tescos next door (yes Katy, it was that one - I can't believe you used to live near there!) to choose an addition to the Barbie empire complete with dogs that crap and wee themselves (anyone else have the delight of these things?!?). Did get N a new swimming costume in M & S though, and both girls rather nice winter pajamas for only £7.

Wiped us out for the rest of the day though!!!

A load of logs arrived this afternoon so I'll be spending tomorrow morning making a woodpile !

SOL - sympathy for your dealings with B. Nothing useful to add really, just the usual stuff - consistency, praise for good behaviour, no tolerance for rudeness etc. Blargghh - when someone told me when N was 1 that it just gets harder as they get older, I really honestly didn't believe them, but now of course I absolutely see what they meant!

Happy Anniversary NL! Glad the job is going well. I am biting my fingers on the job front because I'll know about the job I interviewed for last week on Monday or Tuesday, and I REALLY don't know if I want it!! The difficulty is that I am going for an interview for something else I may well want more, but not until 14 October - argghh! With any luck they won't offer it to me which will make the decision for me!

Runny - hope W has had a better night since you posted last.

Bramshott · 27/09/2008 20:38

these are the pajamas they've both gone to bed in tonight. N is very keen on this dressing alike malarky!

NorthernLurker · 27/09/2008 20:41

Cute pjs! I'm very of the logs - i love chopping logs and haven't done it for years. We don't even have a chimney here. We do have central heating though which is a huge improvement on the last house though Bramshott - hope you get the job you want or want the job you get! Whichever works best

Eddas · 27/09/2008 20:44

aw they're cute bramshott, are you sure it's N that's keen and not you

Happy anniversary NL

How was your snack dinner cd?

i'm bored

I should be working, but I found out my boss is off fo yet another friday next week so feel much better about work atm

I might go to bed soon with a girly dvd, but which one ooooooooooooooo the choices.......

Eddas · 27/09/2008 20:47

as question for those of you with 9-10 year olds, if they like something now what are the chances they'll still like it by christmas?

Hi NL

i too hope the job situation works itself out Bramshott, i'm sure it will

NorthernLurker · 27/09/2008 20:53

My ten year old is consistency itself tbh so i would go for it

Bramshott · 27/09/2008 21:02

Don't work on a Saturday night Eddas! Mind you, I have just done half an hour's work and am delighted at the thought that I have just earned £10!

Eddas · 27/09/2008 21:12

bramshott, i think like that!

Thanks NL, I want to get magazine subscriptions for my nephews(aged 9 and 10) one is a football mag, so unlikely to change, the other is Dr Who. He's liked it for a while, asked for Dr Who stuff last christmas and his bday(July) so should be ok still

cazboldy · 27/09/2008 21:17

Yeah Bramshott they aren't quite as fickle as they get older....

Hello btw

No Caitlin didn't go to school yesterday.... but we had tears and a heart to heart about what she is finding so tough

I have just had half a bottle of wine, and tbh I feel like having the rest!

We have had £200 worth of gates stolen from down at our old field where the cows used to be. We went to pick them up and they have vanished although the lovely old man has offered to claim on his insurance........

Dh has the whole weekend off, although I am a bit ashamed to say I had a bit of a paddy (Molly style ) because he wouldn't come swimming with me to my neighbours pool ( i know I had no idea she had one until she came round and invited us! must have moved to a posh area! they will be getting a petition together to evict us soon! )

Dinner with my brother and sil was lovely last night, and they brought their wedding dvd round, which was actually really nice to watch.....

Am feeling a bit fuzzy so sorry no personals......

Do you think I am the kind of person who never shuts up when they are tipsy? xx

Bramshott · 27/09/2008 21:19

You are so organised Eddas!

Now - is anyone other than POTC going to the big Xmas meet up thingy? I am sort of toying with the idea, but will probably be a chicken!

Okay, I'm off - I have some film on DVD called North Country / Cold Country / North somethingelse about women's rights (sounds worthy) so I think I'll go and watch it whilst drinking the rest of the wine I started last night and marvelling at the number of mice I have caught under our sink with the patented honey and chocolate bated trap. Mind you it's a humane one so it could be the same mouse that keeps coming back in!

Night all!

StealthPolarBear · 27/09/2008 21:20

to gate thief
Hello everyone
very tired today....

Bramshott · 27/09/2008 21:20

Aww Caz - hope it settles down for Caitlin soon. What year is she in? What is she finding hard (if that's not too personal)?

StealthPolarBear · 27/09/2008 21:21

PMSL Bramshott - you are just feeding a stray mouse

Bramshott · 27/09/2008 21:21

Actually I will go in the other room and fire up my very very old and slow laptop, so I will be back in a while once I've put this film on.
