Sponge, sorry about the lack of sleep. It's a killer. I hope you have a better night tonight.

Sybil, sorry about the mastitis

Essie, aren't Golfs the best? I have used that bit as a changing table a million times - it was fine until C got scared that he would roll off and then he would scream and scream when we were changing him. Even recently he got a little dicey, until he saw his baby sister breeze through it - and now, he's all macho about it!

spongebrainbigpants · 02/10/2008 20:01

Essie, sounds like you had a lovely day - lol at the breast milk stain! You classy bird!

UDC, thanks. So do I! Another here who uses her car boot to change nappies - I knew there was a reason I drove a crappy old estate!

fungle · 02/10/2008 20:03

Hello! Like many others Ive been finding it hard to keep up! Still keep skimming and like to check in when I can.
Isla did her one night through the night last week, and never since! She did do a few only waking once at 2-3ish after going to bed a 7, so that was good! The last 2 nights though she has been back to twice a night. Im putting it down to the fact maybe that she has got a bit of a bad tummy. Normally she only poos once a day being a FF baba, since tue she has been around 6 times a day and they are quite runny and lumpy She is fine in herself, but I think I may take her to the doctor tomorrow just to make sure. She has become quite dribbly over the past week too. Teeth??
Went to weigh in on Wed, 14.9 at 13 weeks, big babba!! Me and DP are quite small, dont know where its coming from!
Needahand, my email is fairey25 at yahoo dot com, give us a shout if you fancy coming over to Bath, or I can pop over to Bristol quite easily.
DP and I off for a posh meal together on Sat Cant wait!
Development....Isla is still not really into grabbing things. She should be shouldnt she? Also HATES being on her tummy so not really making progress in her head lifting. I know they all catch up in the end, just worry Im not doing enough to encorage it.
Better go, sterilizing, dinner, packed lunches......xx

Hi all - Essie why are you trying to keep Iestyn awake at 7pm? Just wondering as maybe he's tired which is why he's crying. Luke goes to bed at 7 and is sparko. At 6.45 he's getting very aggitated and grizzly as he desperately wants his bed. If I kept him up any later he would be screaming blue murder! Saying that Luke does not sleep through the night - I can't remember if Iestyn does or not.

I went to see HV today. Got luke weighed. He is 15 weeks and weighs 15lb 7oz. He has gained 1 lb 3 oz in 3 weeks no idea if that is good or not. He has dropped off his centile line a bit which I knew he would as he's not been feeding all that well. HV said she did not think he was teething and that refusing milk, munching anything and everything, crying for no reason and not being able to console him, funny night wakings and not having his bottle, red cheeks, litres of drool etc is 'a phase'. Funny that the teething powder seems to stop it. Also tried teething gel on his gum and he took his feed no problem. Funny that considering it's a phase and unrelated. hmm. She was more intersted in how awful I look (through lack of sleep)and has made me make an appiontment with the GP due to my sleep history. She has also referred me to a councellor which I actually think is a good idea. I have bought some Valerian root which I used to take when I was anxious as it helps to clear your thoughts at night - it did work for me before and may work again - no harm in trying. Also not a sleeping pill so I can still function ok. Have taken 2 so will let you know if it works all you anxious non sleepers. I still have some diazepam from before which I have never used as it's addictive and I didn't wnt to go down that route but I will if I have to as I have a baby to think of now. I did take a couple once and it immediately stopped me from feeling anxious about bed time and made me feel 'normal' so it does work. Would rather go herbal though clearly.

London ladies - have a fab time tomorrow. I am going on a night out with my bezzie tomorrow evening hich I am really looking forward to. I have threatened to wear make up and everything!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 02/10/2008 20:28

Essie3 · 02/10/2008 21:07

Oh, yeah, didn't explain - normally he gets his bath at 7pm, then asleep by 8pm. But DH wasn't home and wanted to see him.

I'm hoping to hang on to the 8pm sleep time for a few weeks because the clocks go back...

I'm taking a diazepam next week to go to the dentist!

fungle · 03/10/2008 07:43

Is 13weeks/3 months a growth spurt age? Please tell me it is. We went back to newborn nights last night, then wide awake at 6 LO now back in bed napping, Im knackered! Anyone else got/had hungry babies at that age?

Parofleurmapu · 03/10/2008 08:25

Morning all

Major breakthrough here Fleur sleeping through til 6am wish i could say the same for me!!! why is it i feel i have to stay awake just in case she wakes!!!
And now she is asleep agin still and i cant go back to sleep!!

Sorry for those with sleeping probs, valeriana is good i found it helped while DP was away when we had my MIL ill.

Fungle- Fleur had a growth spurt about then i think she fed every 1hr for about a week and put on 500g !!!!

Parofleurmapu · 03/10/2008 08:26

Seeing weight thing Fleur is 14.6 pounds at 4 months so is that good bad on the percentiles?

poppy34 · 03/10/2008 08:45

fungle reckon it is..as had newborn type week with edie too

OP posts:
spongebrainbigpants · 03/10/2008 08:58

Paro, it depends what percentile she's been since birth - each baby "should" track his/her own percentile, so the professionals only worry if say your LO was 75th centile and suddenly drops to 25th or vice versa.

At least that's the theory!

Can totally relate on staying awake to listen for LO - A woke at 6.45 this morning, I'd been awake since 4am waiting for him to wake!

Amberc · 03/10/2008 09:05

grrr. My insomnia is back with a vengeance. It's not just listening out for the baby any more. I recognise everything from when I had it before and had to be medicated and go and see a psychiatrist. I can go to sleep but can't stay asleep although I did 10-2 last night, from 2 onwards I was awake. I knew the baby wasn't going to wake up after |I fed him at 3.30 but just lay there thinking. Not bad thoughts just was not tired. I am now! Am off out tonight for some ales so I am hoping it'll knock me out and DP can do the night shift. Quite funny actually as he reads mumsnet to find out what I'm up to/thinking as we hardly see each other! I had the valerian last night but I think I unfortunately have now gone beyond herbal help. I had such terrible insomnia caused by having to watch my beloved daddy die from lung cancer which has never left me and gets worse at times of stress. Not much you can do apart from take sleepers which is impossible with a baby to look after. Perhaps I can mess about with the dosage?

Anyway - Other than that Luke has gone back to waking once in the night thankfully. Things to do during his morning nap (now) but will have a lie down for afternoon nap and try and regain some strength to get me through tonight.

goingfor3 · 03/10/2008 10:29

Sorry to hear about all of the insomnia, hope you all get a decents nights sleep soon.

Paro I think your dd is around the 50th centile for that weight and age. DD1 was 14.1 lbs at 17 weeks and was on the 50th.

allnew HV not worried as ds had been ill and not really had any milk for three days over the weekend. She was just pleased he hadn't lost any though I think he actually had as he was feeding constantly, so having a growth spurt, a couple of days before gettting ill. I will go back in two weeks as he still is not feeding as much as I would like him to.

DS finally pooed! It took so much effort from him and he had to try three times over three hours until he finally manged and then spent another hour trying to do two more. I feel so sorry for him.

fungle · 03/10/2008 11:52

Thanks poppy and paro, It helps to know that is maybe what it is. Having a shit day. Isla is really overtired and screaming the house down. First time Its all made me cry for a while. Thank god its Friday!

Amberc · 03/10/2008 14:51

In my last message I said I would have a lie down for Luke's afternoon nap. He does not seem to want one and is a PITA and refuses to sleep. I am gutted as I didn't bother having a lie down during his morning nap. Flaming typical. He always sleeps in the day. Why is it just because I am exhausted he decides not to have one?

needahand · 03/10/2008 15:01

Sponge I know what you mean, sometimes I am so tired I feel like I might just drop dead like that in the street. Mind you I must have looked really sh*te yesterday because DH told me I was so white I was almost transparent and insisted on not waking me up last night. Lukily SJ took the bottle of mixed EBM and formula and I had a much needed rest.

Amber were you the one worried that Luke was the smallest baby. SJ is only 15lb2 at the moment and he is 16weeks. Do you have a Neals Yard remedy near you. They do wonderful tinctures, I used to take one made of passiflora, valerian and skulcap and it did wonders although it tasted rather foul!

fungle I have a really full week next week and beginning of the week after, but I'll get in touch after that for a meet-up. Perhaps we could go to the new shopping centre in Bristol (it is quite central and easy to get to considering none of us drive) and it is quite baby friendly, I went this morning and it wasn't stressfull at all. Oh and yes it definitely sounds like teeth, I think they get runny nappies when they are teething

Essie3 · 03/10/2008 17:14

Needahand Amber was worried but Iestyn is only just over 12lb at 16 weeks! Not particularly worried though as he feeds ok, and he was small at birth.

PiggyPenguin · 03/10/2008 17:18

Jamie is 14lbs 7oz at 16 weeks. He only feeds when asleep though so I feel has special dispensation to be a bit small! Actually though, this is just slightly below the 50th centile so obviously there are lots of other babies out there who are smaller. Just not on this thread obviously!

Amberc · 03/10/2008 17:26

Apparently according to HV - anything between 50th and 75th line equates to 50th centile.

debinaustria · 03/10/2008 17:40

Hi everyone

Sympathies to those struggling with tiredness, insomnia, crying babies, growth charts etc...

Not much time here to post, trying to get everything ready for flying to UK on Sunday.Sorting out clothes for 5 is bad enough but sorting out clothes that look acceptable on TV is another matter.

However I hope that when you watch the programme you will note that my muslin cloths have been ironed especially for the cameras!! Last time I did that I was about 8 months pregnant.

Will try and check in again tomorrow before we go.

dh is hoping that the show will open some doors for him and his music, have a look at this, Nigel composed the backing music - any comments gratefully received.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 03/10/2008 17:41

Am I th eonly one who doesn't think any of these weights are small

Parofleurmapu · 03/10/2008 18:19

no 5 go mad, i think they are all altight too i asked bout fleurs cause she is one of the oldest babies and seems to be the same as most of them so i wondered if i was missing somethiing!

eveeryoe allwayys ttells me oohh isnt she big!!!!

Upsidedowncake · 03/10/2008 18:29

i think all of those weights are huge! Dorothy is just over 12 pounds too, essie . she has had sore teeth and no 12-week growth spurt though, so that's my excuse! I think once they double their birth weight, they really slow down.

Sybil, really impressed with Jamie's weight - you must work really hard at feeding him.

hedgehog1979 · 03/10/2008 18:37

deb will definitely be impressed by ironed muslins. And also that music sounds fab
re weights I had Isaac weighed at 11 weeks and he was 12lb's, he is now 14 and I haven't been back yet. Might go next week if I can fit it in with everything else going on (funeral is monday)
Waiting for DH to get here so we can head West. He was supposed to be home about an hour ago - but there was a crisis - Not sure what a pizza related crisis is but never mind. Should prob start loading the car....
