Just thought I'd better set up another thread as the old one is just about to run out.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
RUMPEL · 08/09/2008 20:55

Tee hee JODIE - I was coming on to do exactly the same thing - first time I opened up your link it wouldn't work and I just knew that is what it was - she has emailed me already with the address - you and I are like spiritual/mental twins Incidently I already make pizzas - the only thing is you do need a teeny bit of sugar to activate the yeast properly - my Dh likes thin pizzas and I like big puffed up ones with loads of topping - tuna, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and low fat mozzarella - yum. I had this couscous chicken thing tonight - was okay but a bit sweet. Also did my sits ups, arm weights, bum, thigh and back exercises and me bike comes tomorrow. I have been an ANGEL today [proud emoticon] I am hoping to be at least 1 dress size smaller by the end of the week - ahem

Hi SIXPENCE - the skin behind the ears may just be a newborn thing - my DD had that and so did Calvin - it went away after a while. I would ask HV or GP to confirm and if it is eczema I would second the dairy thing - Lo might be very intolerant and that might explain the colic too - worth a try.

What's Myers Briggs DONUT?

I say pram for solid body cot and buggy for stroller too.

RUMPEL · 08/09/2008 20:56

SILVER - just give him disprol if he needs it - he might be fine though. My DD was fine with the first lot but not so good with the second. Calvin has his on Thursday.

nite all
xxx

JODIEhadababy · 08/09/2008 21:02

Rumpel he he, we are very alike aren't we!

silversixpence I would advise you to get some Calpol in, just in case, and give 1/2 a teaspoon (2.5ml) if he gets grumbly, but side effects (Temperature, grizzles etc) usually happen days 2,3 or 4. (Not a given though, DS1 was vile the day after his, DS2 seems to have sailed through)

Oh and yes, If they lie flat it's a pram, sitting up it's a buggy.

RUMPEL · 08/09/2008 21:10

Not disagreeing with JODIE but I use disprol 'cos Calpol has got horrid colorants and crap in it JODIE - maybe we would fight in RL or be best friends

SilverSixpence · 08/09/2008 21:18

oh right thanks Rumpel for that tip - the Infacol had horrible stuff in it too so didn't want to give that either..and it didnt work in the end anyway!

sweetkitty · 08/09/2008 22:17

Evening all just about to head off to bed, B having v unsettled night but asleep on DP now bless she does look cute.

Rumpel - does Disprol got aspirin in it? I thought you weren't supposed to give aspirin to under 12's what is it again some sort of syndrome beginning with R (too tired to look it up). Anyway B has her first jabs next Monday. Love the pizza base recipes will definitely try them out, I love fresh pizza.

silversixpence - welcome back

Love the idea of pushy mothers would love something like that up here.

EEC and libralady - love the pictures as well so cute

Right must be off night night all

ChacunaSonGout · 08/09/2008 22:28

hello all!

Reyes syndrome sweetkitty and it can only be given to over 16s now

checking in and reading all threads when i can but SO SO tired and busy

6 kids is a LOT!!

shortshafe · 08/09/2008 23:03

Hi all - haven't been on for ages as far too sleep deprived and unable to type/think - love the thread title, very apt!!

Isaac's doing well and gaining weight - now 11lbs 11ozs at 6 weeks, am exclusively breast feeding at the moment, although have done formula and expressed milk as had mastitis and the most awful cracked nipples (more blood than milk at one point, sorry if tmi!)

JODIE - thanks for thinking of me, I had lunch at the hedgehog the other day, and thought of you! They do a great burger! I agree with you about some days being shit, I think it's partly to do with having 2 under 2, I'm really of first timers too.

DISNEY - was thinking of you and Sam the other day, keep your chin up - it sounds like you're doing fabulously.

SK/RUMPEL - I heard that about aspirin and under 12's too? Don't think I've made it up in my head anyway!?

SILVERSIXPENCE - I used calpol for dd after her 1st jabs (on gp's advice), now use calprofen though as I think it's better than calpol - not sure what age you can give it from though, and too tired to get off my ass and look

oh, I agree with whoever said prams are hard bodied lie flat things, buggies are lightweight stroller type things!

re weight, am lighter now than I was pre pregnancy, but won't be for long if I don't give up my mint matchmaker habit

will try to catch up more regularly, hopefully Isaac will start sleeping for longer than 3 hours at a time soon and I won't feel so sleep deprived!

ponto · 08/09/2008 23:08

Disney, I used the Motherease one size nappies for dd1 and dd2, they were great, lasted until potty training, though needed boosting with muslins towards the end as they couldn't cope with sudden deluges of toddler wee. I did what you're not meant to do and bought loads of the same type straight off with dd1 having read lots of recommendations, fortunately they worked really well for us. I have just bought some new Motherease air flow wraps (old ones have worn out). I am planning to switch Bryony into washable nappies soon, now I am getting into more of a routine and will be able to cope with the extra washing (though it's only an extra load every 2 days really).

Her sticky eye is no better, despite the regular squirts of breast milk, and her other eye is also quite sticky at the moment. Doesn't seem to bother her though, unless I try to clean it up, but I feel very conscious of it whenever anyone comes over to look in the pram.

Rumpel and Jodie, you sound like you are being much more motivated than me with the diet - I did make a big effort at the start of last week but it all went downhill over the weekend. I think the problem is that I have got into the habit of snacking on really unhealthy things - cake, biscuits, etc. A friend brought round a cake yesterday, then my mum came round with an apple pie today, so I have felt obliged to eat them (and very much enjoyed them!)

Sweetkitty, I think disprol is paracetamol, no aspirin in it, so safe for little ones. I never think to check for additives though, I think as I only give it occasionally and they only have a tiny amount, I don't worry too much - Calpol is the one the dds like the taste of best but I now usually get the chemist's own brand as it's a lot cheaper.

JODIEhadababy · 09/09/2008 07:06

morning.

6 HOURS LAST NIGHT woopee, shame DS1 didn't revel in the 'lie in' I swear my 2 are in cahoots, one has a good night the other doesn't. Oh well, the joys of 'getting it all out of the way'

Gave Sam a bottle of Hungry Milk at his 11.00 (was more like 11.30, when there was a break in the tennis) and he went until 5.30, which is when DS1 decided it was time to get up and have 'juice'. Hence why the early post, sat here with naked DS1 trying to get him to wee in potty (not having any luck1)

Shortshafe Great to hear you are OK. I love it at he Hedgehog, the Sunday Lunch is great there too.

Gilly Are you OK? Where are you?

Ponto My motivation is skiing for New Year, I have to be able to fit in my winter woolies by then (2 stone in 15 weeks???? It's only just under 2lbs a week, so if I'm really good it should be possible)

Disney You'll have to post pics of the nursery when it's done, it sounds lovely.

Morning to everyone else, hope you had good nights and are going to have good days

disneystar · 09/09/2008 07:22

just skimmed the posts and had to post this as i saw the word disprol being used

my children are highly allergic to disprol we didnt know and gave it to one ds he was sick came out in a raw rash itching terrible he was hospitalised,
please check with hv or doctor before using it just incase
i used it to calpol cos od the horrible stuff but i have to use calpl now

EEC · 09/09/2008 09:52

Jodie - that's great. I can only dream of 6 hours. Lots of luck and stay strong vibes for the diet.

Ponto - Rory had sticky eye. I tried the breast milk which didn't work. It was plain boiled water twice a day that worked in the end. It took a while though. I would get HV to have a look though as it could be infected if it has spread to the other eye.

Cacunasongout - are you someone else by another name?

Shortsafe - welcome back to the throng.

R was up from 2.30 last night grumbling and grunting. Finally did a massive tummy explosion at 8 am - there was so much it seeped through his vest and babygrow onto the sheet and matress protector on my bed! The bath water was yellow after he got out. Nice! Great timing too trying to get other DC's out of the house by 10 past! I'm sure it won't be the last time they're late for school this term! He is asleep now, and what am I doing? Sleeping, cleaning? No. MN.

EEC · 09/09/2008 09:54

ChacunaSonGout I mean - sleep deprived typing! Have you a french connection at all?

minipinkscottish · 09/09/2008 10:30

disney - hugs to you - keep strong xx
Abbie is 11lb 3oz at 12 weeks - little dolly

disneystar · 09/09/2008 10:32

awww a dainty little girl

Libra1975 · 09/09/2008 10:59

DS - Sams bedroom sounds great and Sam will be in my thoughts on the 15th.

Minkus - we didn't have a big wedding reception and we are now thinking of having a party for our friends next summer and combining it with a naming ceremony for Alexander as like you we are not religious!

Someone mentioned on here they were having a hog roast? WHo did you use and would you recommend them?

CilC - where do you live? I did a Thames Turbo Triathlon thru Bushy Park a few years ago and thinking of giving it a go next Easter. It's a lovely area to live in!

LL - re: your posting on June. Think every post/anti natal thread is different as you have different people on it (prize for stating the obvious goes to me). If I gave advice it would be nice to get a thank you but not obligatory it's just nice to think that you are helping another suffering mother! As for personal responses this thread does go quite quickly so personally I also read the posts but usually only reply to the last 2 pages worth!

EEC - I have the same problem with A from about 5 he is just fussing and crying, he's not hungry so I think it's wind, this morning I just stuck a dummy in his mouth everytime he started to cry which seemed to calm him down a bit. Also MN is MUCH more theraputic/fun/necessary than housework or sleep.

Welcome back Silver.

hmm I say pram but in fact we do have a stroller as we just got a Maclaren. Alex seems to have the impression that food is to be regurgitated rather than kept down . The whole house is covered in baby sick but he is gaining weight so not worried. Today I am going to the gym to ask about membership and their creche even tho apparently according to another thread I am a bad mummy for wanting to leave A in a creche for 45 minutes 3 times a week. *rollseyes.

Libra1975 · 09/09/2008 11:08

ohh also have a question, we are going to see a nursery this afternoon as I am going back to work p-t when A is 6 months - what questions should I be asking them and what should I be looking out for? Good points? Danger signs?

disneystar · 09/09/2008 11:57

hey libra you are a person to not just a mummy and going to the gym is going to keep you fit to much more fun stuff with your LO
it increases energy levels to i think its a great idea go for it girl !!!!

sweetkitty · 09/09/2008 12:01

Libra1975 - No I don't think you are a bad Mummy leaving A to go to the gym, very good to have some you time. Sorry can't advise re nurseries I am still on maternity leave from the first one 4 years ago

disney - will be thinking of little Sam on the 15th he's such a brave little man and will make his Mummy proud

Don't have a clue what B weighs must be over 11lbs as we weighed her on the WiiFit will get her done proper next week, will dig out DD1 and 2's growth chart things to compare too.

Oh dear she's woke up best be off.

Poledra · 09/09/2008 12:30

Libra have posted on your other thread re nurseries.

Disney, thinking of you and Sam - you are such a strong woman and inspiration to us all on here. It is SO not silly to go with Sam to the operating theatre and wait there with him - I'd want to do that too. I know it's a much smaller thing, but I hated leaving Orlaith in SCBU every night when we were still in hospital - I wanted her next to me where she belongs.

Shortsafe good to see you back. re the cracked nipples (been there with dd1, remember crying my eyes out once when she'd had what i thought was a good feed then she threw the lot back back up again as it was so bloody). However, re the weight loss, I'm sloooowly losing the weight but I know from past experience that my body holds onto about half a stone extra until I stop bfing. It makes sense that my body is making sure it has enough fat to feed the baby if we hit a period of famine but could someone please inform my fat cells that I am fortunate enough to live in the Western world in the 21st century and unlikely to suffer a famine??

Orlaith did a big long sleep last night (10pm to 4am) but at least it made up for her being on my boobs all day yesterday - d'you know that slightly chewed feeling you get by the end of a day like that??

min912 · 09/09/2008 13:14

lol Poledra at the fat cells - wish someone could have told mine when I was pg that there was no need to store quite so much just in case! Can also sympathise on the 'chewed' feeling... P slept a big chunk again last night but only after hours of consistent feeding. Not sure which is better, that or being woken twice in the night.. hmmm

Perhaps we could start another mini-thread for those of us who have a sizeable chunk to lose (38lb here, yikes)?! Found this website though which has a choice of classes near me, plus I can take DS along on the days when he's not at the childminder.

I personally wasn't happy about leaving DS at the gym creche but that was a combination of him being a clingy baby at the time and the staff being two bored teenagers who clearly didn't have the time or inclination to spend a lot of time with a baby - they obviously would have just dumped him in the baby area and ignored him. But if you are happy with your creche and your baby is happy then why not, anything that reduces the amount you sigh when you look at yourself in the mirror (if you are like me that is) is a good thing.

Can't remember who was asking about eczema but DS had it - apparently 'baby eczema' is quite common plus if like us you live in a hard water area it makes it worse. He has grown out of it though (22mths).

Not to be a parrot/sheep but hello to those who haven't been here for a while, and also I would totally want to be as close as possible Disney. Not unreasonable at all!
