Just thought I'd better set up another thread as the old one is just about to run out.

I can even hoover around Luke in his bouncy chair and he drops off. He too also loves watching the washing going around in the machine

DS1 went off merrily when he name was called and didn't even glance back at me let alone give me a hug and a kiss goodbye like he used to at pre-school.

There were women there in full blown floods of tears and their children couldn't have cared less.

I'll admit I did have tears in my eyes, but only when my friend next to me looked at me and I said are you alright when I saw she had tears rolling down her face. I'm afraid I came out in sympathy with her.

Mind you walking away with Luke I couldn't believe the number of parents still walking to the school with the LOs. Wouldn't have thought it would make a good impression being late on their first day. By this time DS1 had gone into his class and the headteacher had explained the process to us parents re picking up, I'd had a chat with some of the other parents and I was a 5 minute walk away from the school by then.
Now if it was 8:50 which is the time the school starts in the morning, I could understand as mornings are hectic with more than one child, but 12:30pm .

But then again, I don't know their circumstances, and I'm one for being punctual rather than late. Always have been.

isaidno- its called white noises, leah loves it too... jus amazed by it!!!

leah has red spots, and her bum is quite sore... i tink it might b thrust due to her anti biotics, has any1 got experience of this?

please advice.. going to see hv on wednesday...

thanx in advance

libralady · 08/09/2008 13:24

mummy2be are the spots on her bum or elsewhere? If my LOs bums have ever been sore I've used sudocreme and it usually clears up within 24 hours. I've never experienced thrush so can't comment on if that is the cause.

Just uploaded some pictures of DS1 in his school uniform before he went off today if anyone is interested.

EEC · 08/09/2008 13:44

libralady - lovely pics of your gorgeous boy. V of your sleeping baby. I am still up at least 4 times a night!

I still haven't been able to upload any photos. Can anyone tell me how to do it? I think they may be wrong format, or to big.

I agree sudocreme is a miracle cream for getting rid of nappy rash. Don't know about spots though.

I also agree that a carry cot thing is a pram, and a buggy is more of a folding pushchair. I say I have a pram.

pigleychez · 08/09/2008 13:49

Libra- Hes looks so sweet... bless him.
Im sure he will be having a fab time and be telling you all about it and his new friends when you collect him.

mummy2bsoon · 08/09/2008 13:55

jus on bum, but she does have tiny spots, face, arms, body...

EEC · 08/09/2008 14:02

Ooh I've managed to upload pictures of my little poppet at last if anyone's interested.

mummy2bsoon · 08/09/2008 14:14

Hi All,

LIBRA - it is daft isnt it! I joined MN in Aug 06 (DD was born Oct) and in the January a whole load of people left our thread as there was a massive hoo ha re weaning! I had named the thread what I thought was a comical name re teeth and food (as a joke) and someone came in to give us advice about not weaning too early and it caused HUGE ructions and loads of peole left there is now only about 6 of us who are posters left on it and 2 of them joined much later! It is impossible to reply individually (unless you write it down I think) most of us are pusehd for time and memory skills! Sp petty - bigger things in life to worry about and any support on here is much appreciated I think.
By the way your wee man is a cutie.

EEC your wee poppet is gorgeous - I always have probs uploading too must get arounbd to it sometime as Calvin is looking much better now.

MUMMY2 - the HV got the Gp to prescirbe timedine cream for Calvins bum - it was right mess and it cleared it up in 3 days. Usually I use sudocream or weleda calendula cream or smellie ellie cream.

JODIE - forgot to say most people spell my name wrong - I am used to it! It is like Cilc too - most of us clic. My name is actually form Rumpelstiltskin (after a beautiful maine coone cat we used to have).

Hope all are well today must go

Started my "diet" today - I will keep you updated - those of us fatties who feel the need can support each other re weight loss too and be of you skinny lot that lost the weight so quickly and easily.

Peanut73 · 08/09/2008 16:11

CilC - oops, I say 'pram' too... must be an antipodean thing! And I agree with you Pigley regarding the specifications.

No, you don't need any special pram for Pushy Mothers... we walk around the paved paths, and then stop at various points to do exercises such as lunges and squats, and also some involving a stretchy rope thing that you are given when you join up. I'm back now and feel so envigorated from doing it. Also have a sense of satisfaction IYKWIM. Oh, and don't be put off if Rafferty cries all through the first one, they seem to do that!

isaidno - you're full of good ideas! Thanks for your comment on facebook too!

libralady - aw, sam looks so lovely, and so PROUD!

EEC - yay! your pictures are lovely! so pleased you were finally able to put some up.

Rumpel - I will support you! I'm normally naturally quite slim and really beefed up dramatically during my pregnancy due to a sudden penchant for puddings every night, and to be honest, I've been a bit down at the weight still hanging around. Everyone said that breastfeeding just made the pounds disappear, but I am still almost 2 stone over my pre-preg weight and I'm not eating unhealthily anymore. I'm still in maternity clothes 15 weeks after Charlie was born! I caved in and bought some jeans from Gap last weekend just to feel a bit more normal, even though I didn't want to spend money on clothes I hope to no longer fit soon.

Well, my father arrives to stay with us for two weeks tomorrow. Mum and Dad split up 4 years ago after 37 years of marriage (Dad had an affair). Typical bloke, not being able to face up to things, took off and has been living in Thailand (Koh Samui) for the past three years... London's going to be a shock I think!

disneystar · 08/09/2008 16:12

libralady · 08/09/2008 16:17

I say pram too. To me a buggy is a light weight sroller/umbrella type

OP posts:
libralady · 08/09/2008 16:18

Sorry - stroller. Typing one handed at the mo

OP posts:
isaidno · 08/09/2008 16:19

I have a couple of wonderoos - not keen tbh. I also have some motherease one size - much better. I would buy just a couple to try out rather than loads the same, to see how you get on. Motherease wraps are by far the best though.

DonutMum · 08/09/2008 19:40

Hey Rumpel, for sure there are some right wnkes out here but then I was working in the City for 15 years so am used to it - more money than manners (them ,not me). Have to say, the traffic is bloody awful and the parking on the school run - but then it's like that in the UK. Just hotter and dustier here. Didn't enjoy the mother and baby group - find those things a bit cliquey - so much for not being shy (although I'm not shy, just can't be arsed talking a lot of the time lol - anyone on here done Myers Briggs?)but meeting up with another person I met on an expat site who seems really nice too. So, got things planned for Wednesday and Thursday now. Most important thing is I've found a hairdresser.

Oh, and I HATE the word buggy. Always say pram.

Right, off to bed, am exhausted cos have really been up with Logan since 3am this morning with his fussing and chatting - didn't go down properly after his night feed. It's a bottle tonight I'm afraid....Slippery slope, but my boobs are knackered.

DonutMum · 08/09/2008 19:43

Sorry libralady, meant to say, your boys are lovely.

libralady · 08/09/2008 19:55

Thanks DM What's the time difference between here and Bahrain?

OP posts:
EEC · 08/09/2008 19:57

Donutmum - Rory is up fussing and chatting every night from about 3 or 4. Don't know what to do about it. Lety me know if a bottle solved it for you. I think Rory's problem is that he is very windy at that time - no idea why.

SilverSixpence · 08/09/2008 20:10

hi everyone, this is the first time i've posted on the postnatal thread but i did post a few times on the antenatal thread! DS is doing v well, apart from the dreaded colic i've tried infacol, colief, gripe water and have given up on them all as none of them seem to make any difference to him! my ring sling has been a godsend the past few weeks. He used to sleep 2-3 hours morning and afternoon in the first 3 weeks but that's not been happening lately.

He's also started to get eczema behind his ears and on his chin which really worries me because his dad and aunt (DH's sister) had terrible eczema in childhood and SIL still has scars all over her hands i've been putting olive oil on it and watching out for scratching but so far it seems fairly mild - maybe i'm just being paranoid. How long does eczema take to develop? I'm exclusively bfing him so i'm hoping that will help.

I will have to go back and read the first thread to find out what happened with everyone else, the only thing I've managed to pick up on is Disneystar's situation - and am wishing you and Sam all the best. I worked in paediatrics for a short while and have met lots of mums in similar situations, I always admire them so much.

JODIEhadababy · 08/09/2008 20:11

Before I start and forget please take alook at this see if you can help..

Any way Rumpel and Peanut and anyone else tying to lose weight, I have this fab recipe for a Pizza Base, that so low in fat.

8oz Plain Flour
4 fl oz Warm water
1 1/2 Teaspoons dry yeast
drop of Olive Oil

Mix all together and knead until soft. Leave to rise until it's doubled in size (about 1/2 hour) then roll out and add toppings.

As I'm doing weightwatchers the whole base is only 9 points, and it makes a big pizza, so with a side of salad you would only prob want 1/4 of it...

Had it for tea last night, yummy.. It's also a great way of getting rid of those 'just about to turn' things in the fridge, (mushrooms, ham, tomatoes etc)

JODIEhadababy · 08/09/2008 20:16

Welcome back Silversixpence DS1 had Eczema on his face quite badly when new born, HV gave us Hydromol (sp?) Fab stuff.. Basically she said to keep it well moisturised as it's when it's dry it gets itchy, when it gets itchy, it gets scratched, when it gets scratched it gets infected, which makes it itchier.... And so on and so on... He is now 2 (nearly) and I keep a pot of it and when I see a flair up it gets administered straight away, wonderful stuff.

You might also want to try cutting out/down dairy from your diet if you are BF, as thats quite a common cause of eczema.

libralady · 08/09/2008 20:22

Longtime no hear silversixpence. Great to hear you guys are doing well (apart from the eczema). I know I had it quite bad as a child but under the ears and behind the knees, although I can't remember what was prescribed from the drs. I did grow out of it though. Hopefully someone else will be able to advise.

SilverSixpence · 08/09/2008 20:52

thanks jodie and libra, DS hasn't been weighed for 3 weeks (!) as i've been at my parents place so i'll ask the HV when i go tomorrow. He's also due his 8 week jabs so will get those tomorrow - anything i need to watch out for afterwards? like temperatures, more screaming etc
