Just thought I'd better set up another thread as the old one is just about to run out.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Poledra thanks for asking and good to hear all is well with Orlaith. Rafferty has been given the all cleart also. The only thing is we have to have another hearing test next March which apparently is policy for LO who go through this... Raff's hearing certainly seems fine.
My Raff is also a small one Pigleychez, he is just not a big eater. My dd was the same, but she bulked up once weaned.
Good to hear from you disney...thoughts still with Sam.

JODIEhadababy · 17/10/2008 07:10

Morning all...

Ahhhhhhhhh, Sam has gone from being a really good sleeper (7-6 with a dream feed at 10.30) to waking up every 3 hours. The last 2 nights he's woken up for his 10.30 feed before I've gone up to him, and then 1.30 and 5! I'm shattered, my eyes look like piss holes in the snow! I remember this happening about the same time with DS1 (15 weeks) and I was advised to wean him, which I did, at 17 weeks. But I don't really want to do it so soon with Sam. Yesterday was like a feeding marathon, and he's not usually a big eater, but my god, yesterday, I lost count, but I think he drained 9 x 6oz bottles, and thats Hungry Milk too........ Is this going to continue, or is it just ANOTHER Growth Spurt???? Someone please reassure me...

Sorry for big me post, will catch up later. x

mcchesers · 17/10/2008 07:47

Jodie - goodness that sounds a nightmare. I'm not going to even begin to try and give you advice on that one, but I wish you luck! Have you asked your health visitor. I'd try and get a professional opinion.

Aidan is 14 weeks old and 15lbs 8oz! He's also really long (2ft 3 in), and sleeps 9/10pm to 7/8am most nights but I do a cluster feed before we put him down. 6, 8 and 10pm. He eats like a champ but then he's still breastfeeding. It's a good solid hip baby weight so nice to hold

Disney- glad to hear that Sam is home and on the mend. Keep us posted.

Ladies the viewers we had are trying to get a mortgage for our place so fingers still crossed. We have another guy coming this morning so here's hoping. Shame we had to drop the price so low..but hopefully we can break even and be debt free which is all I care about just now.

hugs to all the mums 'n babies!

Libra1975 · 17/10/2008 09:49

Morning all,

Glad MN made it thru the maintenance work!

Disney - Glad Sams operation went well and I hope he recovers quickly.

Pigley - grr to the builders, when I was 8 months pregnant next doors gardeners trimmed the hedges and left most of the mess around my side. I MARCHED round there and demanded they come and pick up their mess. I guess it helped being 8 months pregnant and slightly hormonal. As for injections yes we had to book the second lot ourselves.

Poledra - great news about being rejected by the paeditricians.

Mama2leah - Alex has dry skin but we just use baby oil each night after his bath and it seems to have helped.

As for Alexs sleep, it's still all over the place. Yes I currently give a feed at 10:30/11ish. He went 2 nights earlier in the week with just one very short waking at 3:30ish between 11 and 8 but the last 2 nights has been up at 2am and 5am. I KNOW all babies are different and some just don't want to sleep thru the night but it's frustrating as someone said the first question always asked is is he sleeping thru the night! I still think he is waking due to wind but trying to settle him using rubbing the back, cycling the legs takes over an hour whilst bunging a breast in his mouth takes about 10 minutes and at 2am I just go for the easy option.
isaidno/ponto - my DH has been suggesting that for a while just letting him sleep thru the 11pm feed, he will be so glad someone on MN has suggested it as he knows I will now try it. Basically I will now try anything, we have tried topping up with a formula feed (after breast) at 11pm but all that has happened is his nappies have got VERY smelly and sludgy!

Sorry, long post, bit obsessed about sleep atm.

JODIEhadababy · 17/10/2008 09:53

Oh Good Luck Mccheseres fingers crossed for you!

Libra1975 Was thinking of dropping the 'dreamfeed' myself, I wished I'd never started the damn thing!!!! I;ll see, the last 2 nights he's woken himself for it though. I never know what to do for the best! Parenting is all trial and error I think!

Better get off and put a load of washing on.

Momma23 · 17/10/2008 09:58

Jodie,
9 is alot or is it? The only thing i would say if he is not filling up on the milk he may need food. My neice was like that, she was on food at 3 months. I know it not advised but if there hungry there hungry, plus it may help with the night feeds.

mcchesers
Good news, lets hope they get it.

Having a rough morning DD1 driving me potty... Wet the bed, her cereal fell on the floor and went everywhere, crying, whinging. I had to go to the siting room and jog in one spot like a lonney to get the fustration out!!! Then had to get all 3 out to get DD1 and 2 to play group.. Then DP rings and askes if there is any chance of a fry up!!!! I NEED A BREAK AGHHHH
You know how that went!!!

pigleychez · 17/10/2008 10:10

Just a quicky to say Hi.

Another busy day planned today- just what i need

Im another shattered one... not from Abigail not sleeping as shes great. Its me who has the problem sleeping! Lately its taken me ages to get off to sleep. Just lay there with 1000 and 1 things going through my head. Worse after the night feed about 5/6 as you know its early and by the time i go off shes wanting the next feed.

Builders are back today and it looks they will be putting in patio doors today. If they make more mess ill be so cross! I can be very snappy when im tired!!

Jodie- agree. no advice here being a first
timer but i would ask the health visitor.

I rang the surgery today about Abigail jabs and Yes they should of made an appointment and sent me a letter but hadnt. Suprise suprise!
Any more screams planned for next thursday!

JODIEhadababy · 17/10/2008 10:41

Don't want to jinx anything but..... so far so good, much better baby in this house today. Had a feed at 9 (why oh why can he go 5 hours in the day and not at night??????) and he's cooing away nicely now. DS1 just gone off with MIL to feed the ducks, so might grab myself some tea and toast!

EEC · 17/10/2008 12:25

Disney - so pleased op went well. Giv ethe little might a big hug from us all.

Pigley - I'm another bad sleeper and although R is only waking twice a night - usually 1sh and 5ish I find it hard to sleep after each waking - especially the 5am one - I just lie awake thinking odf all the things I need to do. It's so frustrating cos I'm shattered. about the builders for you!

I never do a dream feed either - I find if I do he's not hungry, only takes a bit and wakes up 2 hours later anyway.

I never thought about having to book next set of jabs - I just assumed they would do it. Perhaps I'd better check.

R very pink cheeked and fretful today - teething perhaps? My other 2 didn't until 6 months so I wasn't expecting it yet.

isaidboo · 17/10/2008 13:24

xmas shopping tip - woolworths have 3 for 2 on all toys until Sunday! I just bought the 3 dc another pressie each!

Momma23 · 17/10/2008 14:06

I have done all my xmas shopping online!!! sad or what. Just have santa to get and thats all in one shop and it stays open till 12 week days!! Just 2 more to and sadly i cant get them online.. Its one stress out of the way..

isaidboo · 17/10/2008 14:34

libra1975 - have you thought the late feed might be causing the 3am wind? If you fill his tummy too full, when he's not really ready for a feed it might be causing bellyache. I would def try without it.

momma23 - you are very organised, but I have to admit I don't have much left to buy really. I used to work in retail and always finished my shopping before the end of November becasue the last thing I wanted after a day in a shop was to fight through the crowds and do shopping!

Momma23 · 17/10/2008 15:36

isaidboo
I cant handle shops full stop.. DDs are to much of a handfull so online is sooo easy. Its the only way to go.

littlebadbunny · 17/10/2008 16:20

Hello everyone, i've not been keeping up with you lot, but everyone sounds well.
Disney so very glad Sam is doing well.

I was wondering why there was a scrum in Woolies today...I only went in there for pants with Thomas the tank engine on...i'm on day 2 of potty training, and have quickly realised that 5 pants is no where near enough!!!
Megan is doing so well...a little angel.
Oh and i've namechanged.....been watching bunnytown on disney channel....I was Thepuddingchef.

pigleychez · 17/10/2008 19:10

Hi all,

Well the builders didnt make any more mess but I have emailed the company to have a little moan.

Spent today out with an old work colleague and her 2yr old. It was nice to catch up but kinda made me realise how much I dont miss working with her. That sounds awful but she is very materalistic and always trys to be one up. ie What ever you have, she has it better...and talks rubbish. "Apparently" she has properties all over the world... which everyone knows is a complete fabrication and she pays interior designers to redecorate them every 6mths... He husband earns thousands every month blah blah blah but she drives a clapped out little banger.
Oh well, just gets on your nerves after a while.

I too have started buying the odd presents. Nothing major but will do soon to avoid the manic shops!

JODIEhadababy · 17/10/2008 20:17

I've been thinking about christams too. So many of my friends have had new babies or 2nd babies this year that it might get expensive, so that 3 for 2 deal is good (Boots and Marks and Spencers usually do similar on the run up to christmas).

Sam been fine today, only 6 bottles, I've upped his bottle to 7oz so we shall see (He didn't drink it all, just left a timy bit at the end.) Gone to bed without a hassle, lets see if we get a good night!

isaidboo · 18/10/2008 10:54

Well I am busy busy here finishing packing to go to Butlins next week. We're going to my parents tonight. DS2 is poorly though, hope he perks up by Monday.

So, don't all chat too much while I'm gone!

mama2leah · 18/10/2008 11:47

Momma23 · 18/10/2008 12:07

Pigleychez

Jodie
How was the night?

isaidboo
Have a lovely weekend..

mama2leah
I am using the tesco own brand size 3 and i find them great and less expensive. The only reason i change from pampers was because i could never get the size i wanted! No advice on the thumb sucking..

Okish day here still in pjs as i dont feel like leaving the house today.. Tesco delivery tommorw and the fridge is empty! So looks like i will have to spring into action.. DP is out tonight so long soak and a movie for me!!

TJuice · 18/10/2008 13:01

hi ladies

i am in the throes of getting rid of dummy. and i feel like an evil witch - i hate letting Elodie cry! but shall perserve.

but problem is that i am crap with routine myself. have to get a grip and have some structure to the day - may help her in the long run.

i thought we had cracked it last night - she went to sleep after her bath and feed with no tears, no dummy and no rocking.

so i decided to go out for a few hours to this party with my girlfriends and be back by 12. dh does dream feed anyway. but she woke at 10 and was inconsolable for two hours and wouldn't eat! i felt like a bad mummy . . .

Am also having difficulties resettling myself at night! Exactly the same as you pigley and libra. May have to listen to my meditation tape or something - its so annoying!

disney - so pleased everything went well. how's the little one now?

JODIEhadababy · 18/10/2008 14:13

Momma23 Great again, back to normal, had dream feed at 1030 and woke at 4, had another feed at 7.15 and then not another one until 12.45 (he had his nap then too). I think it was a MOSSIVE growth spurt as I've just dressed him and the clothes he was weraing a couple of days ago are REALLY tight around the bum, and I've put him ina disposable and not a cotton! Thanks for asking.

tjuice It's horrid hearing them cry isn't it, but I used to think to myself that if I kept doing things 'for an easy life' then I was making things more difficult down the line. There is no harm in her crying, even though it sends your blood pressure through the roof!!

Mama2leah No proper advice as I;ve not ever had to deal with it, but other than trying her with mittens I don't think there is much that can be done about thumb/finger sucking. Maybe start a new thread about it? Good luck!

Right off to deal with DS1

xx

Momma23 · 18/10/2008 15:16

Tjuice

7am 7oz feed (sometimes she sleeps in)

Nap and play

10-11am 7oz feed

nap and play or go to shops.

1.30-2pm 7ox feed

nap and play, or watch me in the kitchen in her swing.

5pm 7oz feed

Light snooze if she need it,

play

7.30pm bath/top to toe play with sisters

7oz feed and bed by 8 - 8.30pm

It works here and suits L. Just so you can see another babies routine, it may help E. I remember with DD1 i craved routine so much but now L fits in to our routine IYKWIM.

Momma23 · 18/10/2008 15:17

All L naps are usually in her bouncer, swing or car.

disneystar · 18/10/2008 15:45

M2L re thumb sucking samuel does it to all the time i guess its his comfort zone so im going to let him carry on as soon as he wakes up in goes the thumb its constantly wet and wrinkled now like being in the bath a long time
tjuice sorry if ive missed all posts but why are you taking elodie,s pacifier away?

hope you guys are ok and babies healthy and well

DonutMum · 18/10/2008 16:52

Hi all

Disney, glad sam on the mend.

Re sleep, am also obsessed but as another poster (can't remember, am sleep deprived..) said, going to leave him to sleep once he's in bed (6pm) and see leave him to lengthen his night time sleep naturally - have been trying to strict routine him and it makes no difference so different from DS1 and DS2.

Starting to get a bit better here now - went out on a night out on Thursday and got a bit tipsy on pinot grigio - sadly only three glasses is enough to give me a hangover.

Anway, best go, got the enitre family on skype on DH's PC. Then it's bed cos I've got a stinking cold, as has Logan, poor wee boy. The other two are thriving.
