Just thought I'd better set up another thread as the old one is just about to run out.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sweetkitty · 19/10/2008 10:00

morning all just a quick one busy busy busy was out all day yesterday and out again today

B has a stinking cold, green nose and gunky eye poor wee thing think it is making her really cranky in the evenings. Still no routine whatsoever here TBH her being up with us and cranky all evening is starting to get me down seems like she is going back the way instead of lengthening her sleep as they are supposed tp do at 3 months.

Thumb sucking - DD1 is a thumbsucker she only does it now before she goes to her bed and with her comfort bunny, theres nothing you can really do you cannnot take their thumbs away from them and I don't agree with putting yucky stuff on them too it's a source of comfort for them.

Pampers - I am using newborn Pampers size but will switch to size 3 soon IME they are the best for runny poos that newborns do, once she starts weaning I will switch to Tesco's Active Fit the best nappy I have found. I hate Pampers Baby Dry they always feel like a few pees and they are sodden and so squidgy. I do think you have to use a few different types to find the best ones as some fit some babies better etc. Still hamker after my Tots Bots though wish I ahdn't have sold them but ho hum.

Disney - so glad Sam is on the mend

Will catch up more once I have the time (ha ha ha)

disneystar · 19/10/2008 14:40

same here SK i coudnt put nasty stuff on there thumbs either there only babies poor things i think sams thumbsucking is his comfort im leaving him to it
as for nappies i use terries easy and quick and i dont run out hes never sore but his bum looks huge in them he weighs 12lb 8oz now not bad for nearly 14 weeks
re night sleeps samuel now goes all night woohoo goes to bed approx 9pm wakes up at 7am i aint complaining at that
i was lying on the bed with him last night playing boo with a terry a clean one i must say as i pulled it down he laughed a little giggle came out it suprised him and he cried he also jumps now if hes suprised this little personality is coming out out
and boy does he melt my heart when he looks at me
ok ladies im after newborn little girl clothes my daughter is 34 weeks and doing the best she can but has one lazy arse bf
if anyone one has these clothes i will be more than willing to buy them for her if any of you guys can bear to be parted from them
im quite attached to sams little things ive kept a few but i have a huge box hes grown out of that i have given to the childrens hospital

TJuice · 19/10/2008 18:38

he sounds cute, disney!

I am giving up the dummy because she uses it to fall asleep and then wakes up (and wakes us up) whenever it falls out (up to 10 times a night!). she is sucking on fingers now, but not at night-time. i do feel mean but think its for the best for all of us in the long run. i may reintroduce in the day if she still seems really sucky because at the end of the day, i want her to be a happy baby but one that can get to sleep and get back to sleep without too many props.

i am knackered - had a busy day, entertaining 12 people for brunch, with all their toddlers too! it went well though.

Peanut73 · 19/10/2008 19:54

Hello everyone. Disney sending love to you and Sam. It must break your heart to see him covered in bruises, but I bet he's looking better every day. Good to hear his beautiful little smile is back!

Hope everyone else is well.

Well ladies.... if you turn to page 15 of the Sunday Mirror you will see a libelous story about me with a photo of me and Charlie.

I answered a netmums survey on maternal care and a journalist got in touch with me and interviewed me over the phone about the whole experience from the antenatal care, to the birth, to the postnatal care.

I never even said I had PND and the headline reads "I wanted to kill myself" and says I was suicidal with PND. None of the quotes in the article are accurate. And now, if you google my name the article saying I was suicidal comes up! That's going to be great when any prospective employers look me up!

I want an apology, the article removed from online, and would love some compensation though imagine this is unlikely.

Anyone have any advice?

CilC · 19/10/2008 20:49

OMG poor you peanut! i know a lawyer who may be able to help.
That is shocking and so not what you need.
Have you contacted netmum?
Must go but def seek advice.

JODIEhadababy · 19/10/2008 20:59

Juat a quick one, PEanut I can't beleive that, what knobs! No advice I'm afraid. So for you..

Disney Glad Sam's recovering well

WW Are you there?? Did your DD have a nice b'day?

I;ve made a resolution today, Sam's not getting his dream feed from now on!!!! We'll see how that goes fingers crossed

CilC · 19/10/2008 21:29

Back for a few mins...
Disney - just wanted to say I am glad Sam's doing ok. He sounds like such a brave strong little chap.
Sweetkitty agree about nappies. Exactly what I found. Though just tried today some nappies from a gf that she bought from Lidl and they seem very good also...just goes to show it is not always what you pay. Not sure where a Lidl is but will search.
Tjuice - good luck. It is tough when they cry but totally understand why you are doing this.
Good luck Jodie, hope this helps Sam sleep.
Donut mum think it would onlytake me a glass to get tiddly these days...

Must fly again, am cooking up for my baby group who come tomorrow. Seven little babies here (which I find daunting)...not 12 like you managed Tjuice!!! Well done!

Night allx

purplejennyrose · 19/10/2008 22:30

Peanut

shortshafe · 19/10/2008 22:56

PEANUT - am so for you - do get some legal advice asap!

DISNEY - I've got a few bits left from when I had dd that your dd can gladly have, email me clairalouise at aol.com, I'll happily post them for you. I know how hard it is when you start out with very little - we've been given loads of stuff and I believe in recycling whenever possible!

Good luck with dropping the dream feed JODIE, I'm not brave enough yet! Isaac has just started going 12-8 so I feel human again, which is nice!

dd is 2 this week, can't believe where the time has gone, she's such a big girl now - potty trained, chatting away, miss independant. Good job I've got Isaac to cuddle and coo over.

Libra1975 · 20/10/2008 07:45

Morning all.

Donutmum - hope your cold is better.

DS - please keep us updated on Sams progress (if you have the time), sending him lots of get better 1uickly vibes. Also have you told your daughter about freecycle, we got lots of great secondhand clothes/babythings on it for Alex.

Peanut - that's horrible for you *hugs. Are you actually named? Get some legal advice.

Jodie - good luck with dropping the dream feed.

TJuice - you are NOT being mean, if she has found her fingers she will be fine. Check her hands however, we found 2 calluses on Alexs hands from where he sucks them! So funny.

Argggh, after deciding 3 nights ago to drop the dream feed after what was said on this thread Alex has woken himself up on the dot of 10 each night bawling for food. He has then proceeded to wake up at least twice between 12 and 6. I am exhausted. His nappies have also started to be really smelly and sludgey and he farts for great britain so not really sure of what is going on in his little tummy. I can't believe that my goal is just 5 hours of solid sleep.

JODIEhadababy · 20/10/2008 08:26

Woohoo, don't want to jinx anything, but, Sam woke himself at 10, but only took 3 oz, he then slept til 6.45!!!!!!!! YEAH

Will catch up later, off to visit my friend who has just had a little girl, she now 10 days old, can't wait to hold her, I bet Sam will seem really big in comaprison (She was only 6lb 2oz born!!!!)

EEC · 20/10/2008 08:41

I also am using tesco size 3 and find them much better than pampers (and cheaper) - R always soaked trhough to sleeping bag after a pampers night, but not with Tescos. (Also they are currently on offer!)

Isaidboo - hope you had a great time.

Momma23 -your routine is pretty much exactly like mine (when I can manage it) but R still wakes at 1am and again at 5am for a feed

Disney - so glad Sam is doing well - what a relief.

SK sorry to hear B unwell - wishing her a speedy recovery.

Peanut poor you. No advice but feel for you. I would get some advice - do you know any lawyers?

disneystar · 20/10/2008 10:01

peanut omg what a bad thing to happen
back in 2002 i had a story in news of the world we had been nominated by someone as my charlie had had a whole face reconstruction so the headline was meet the baby with a new face that bit was true but what they wrote and what i said were two different things
yes some quotes were true but many many wernt similar to yours i was suicidal and they said i turned to class a drugs to keep me sane
i went mad this was a face to face interview with pictures the lot and i tried very hard to get a retraction but i didnt
because of that story we were hounded by the press some camping on our doorstep for a few days as we woudnt open the door
in the end i had 3 or 4 tv crews round filming us live to go on the news to tell my side im glad to say it worked
maybe this is an option for you i dont know
but at the end of the day you know the truth who cares what other people think who dont even know you they have probsbly read it then turned the page and forgotton
but i know how angry and distressed you must feel you poor thing

Mummywannabe · 20/10/2008 10:26

Hi all. Not had chance to read posts yet but could do with some help. Max has gone from having 8 ounces (a lot i know) to barely managing 4 ounces - will take 5 after alot of fussing. Should i be worried (well i am of course but do i need to?) Have doctors booked today but wondered if the wisdom of mumsnet could help me

Momma23 · 20/10/2008 10:59

Peanut
OMG you poor thing, def go seek advice as they should not be aloud to get away with it.

MWBe
I wouldnt worry unless he is weight is going down, My dds did that and went back to the 7-8 oz feeds again. See what the doc suggests.

Disney
Good to hear sam is doing well. about what happen in 2002.What they will do to sell papers is unreal!

Hope all mummy and babies are well.L is doing great, Rushing as i have to bring DD2 to doctors think she has an ear infection. O the joys she was up half the night the poor thing.. So i am now recked, look like sh^t and in tracksuit!! I havent even washed my face this morning!! yucky mummy i am.

pigleychez · 20/10/2008 11:08

Busy day for me yesterday- Went out for dinner with the PIL's for DH's Nans birthday. Abigail was a star and slept right through the meal then was all smiles for lots of photos

Lazy day today- fed at 7.30 then Abigail fell back to sleep about 8.45 so I layed in till 10 and she is currently still asleep.

Nappies- Ive been using newborn pampers untill this week DH bought some Sainsburys own ones. They do seem to hold more during the night.

Disney- So glad that Sam is doing well

Peanut- I did that survey too
How awful for them to twist everything. A local paper did that to a friend of mine recently.

Clic- Enjoy all thoose babies today!

Mummywannabe- Not sure about advice.. Have you posted about it on the feeding section?
Abigail has 5oz bottles but usually takes about 4ozs but can be anywhere between 3 or 5. Everyone elses LO's seems to take more than that

sweetkitty · 20/10/2008 11:18

Morning all Bethany asleep so have a whole 10 mins MN before getting the other two (house is sparkling though beds are changed) older 2 will come in and change all that though.

Rough night last night B went down at 8 back up by 8.30 then had a feed at 10pm, 2ish, 4ish and 6ish argh maybe it's because she is so bunged up. Her gunky eye was a lot more gunky this morning I cleaned it then squirted some BM in it.

I found both Pampers and Huggies leaked with my other two, Tesco's all the way, I think they have put the price up (like everything else) but they are still only about £7odds for a pack of 60odds which used to last me a fortnight for one child so not bad.

peanut - I quickly googled Sunday Mirror and PND and got the article straight away I would be so cross they mentioned you by name and where you live I hope you get some sort of compensation for that.

disney - I have stopped reading the paper now as well, most of the stuff in there is utter rubbish.

mummywannabee - I wouldn't worry too much as long as he's pooing/peeing and still putting on weight I'm sure he will be fine. With BFing I don't have a clue how much B takes I always think she never spends enough time feeding she seems so quick to latch herself off then refuses to go back on but she must be getting enough as she's putting on weight and is happy enough.

Jodie - fingers crossed with Sams sleeping

I would like to do a poll ladies if you don't mind with regards feeding and sleeping, so can you let me know

are you BF/FF or mixed feeding?
how long does your baby sleep in a typical 8am-8pm night?

I just want to know if it's true FF babies sleep longer and want to compare B against other babies too (I know they are all different but I am just curious) thanks

Right better get poor wee sleeping B into her snowsuit and car seat and take her down to nursery, hate moving her when she's asleep

wobblingweeble · 20/10/2008 11:29

Hi All,

Back form parents now - no rest though as my Mum was so busy working that I ended up cooking for my Dad and running after the kids and no dishwasher there either! Lovely to see my folks - weather was nice and DD adored the animals - she was out on the tractor and quad with Dad, feeding the sheep, cows, chickens etc and one of our Highlanders had a wee calf when she was there too.

She had a great Bday thanks JODIE . Was not interested in pressies once she got a bit of cake though She only got to try her dance mat when we got home as I got the wrong batteries - she loves it though. Where have all the fellow dieters gone?

Calvin has settled down and is a lovely wee ginat boy now - all smiley and loves cuddles and kisses. We are going off to baby group today so I will get him weighed/measured. He has second lot of jabs tomorrow - should have been 2 weeks ago but we were away.

I am feeling really motivated now and the best I have felt for years so am attacking the house with gusto trying to get things done and also start back healthy eating today.

PEANUT - lying ba*ds!!! unfortunatley they write what will sell papers - why dont you contact some womens mags and tell them your story - that way youll get to clarify and get some cash?

DISNEY - how long until you DD pops? How are all your clan?

MINPINK - how are your lot getting on too?

TWINKLE - how are you out there?

TJUICE - am lucky C spits his Dt out when he has had enough but DD is extremely attached to hers!!

Hi to everyone else must go as C is shouting!!

disneystar · 20/10/2008 12:19

feeding and sleeping

samuel has 6oz bottles eg thus morning had 6ox for breakfast and 4 lunchtime thatl be it till the afternoon then hel probably have 9 hes a strange baby
i put him to bed between 8pm and 9pm now if i wake him for dream feed he will have approx 2-3 oz then sleep till 5am
if i dont wake him he will wake up about 2-3pm starving and thinking its morning and be cooing and smiling
hance still doing dream feed he just fusses all night otherwise
my dd is 34 or 35 weeks now and wobbling about

cass66 · 20/10/2008 13:09

just a quickie to answer your question SK.

Ed is exclusively breast fed. He sleeps from 7pm to 7am. naps during the day, sometimes for 1hr or longer.

Never done dream feeds.

Cass.

Libra1975 · 20/10/2008 15:46

SK - breast offered at 7:30am, 10:15am, 2pm, 5pm, 6.15pm and 10:30pm, however is fed at other times if he seems hungry.
sleep. 7pm-10pm. 11pm-2ish. and then either 1 or 2 more wakings before 7 depending if it's a good or bad night!

However I am sure I have read a document with evidence that the oft repeated FF babies sleep longer is actually just a myth. I am trying to find the article for you.

pigleychez · 20/10/2008 16:26

Sk- Your poll....

Abigail is on formula now.
She goes to bed at 8pm after a feed, has a dreamfeed at 11 then wakes again between 4ish to 6ish. Depends how lucky we are
She then goes off again untill her next feed 3 or 4 hours later.

Example- Today she woke at 4am and fed..back to sleep till 7.00am, feed, lay in bed with me playing till she fell back to sleep at 8.30. then slept till 11 and fed at 11.30.( only on lazy days when we dont have to be out)

Naps... she has 2 or 3 a day and vary from an hour to 2.5 hours.. She sleeps longer at home in her moses basket than she would in her pram when out and about.

I too find it interesting to see what other babies do.

Poledra · 20/10/2008 16:30

SK, Orlaith wakes through the night at least 3 times for feeding (exclusively BF) but I have no ide when these are, as I had really crap eyesight and can't see the clock at night without putting my specs on . And if I'm really unlucky, (as I was this weekend) she wakes to fart at least 4 times.

pigleychez · 20/10/2008 16:36

oohhh We got Halloween smileys again!

Hehe I remember the Halloween smileys when I posted when I got my BFP

Libra1975 · 20/10/2008 16:42

*hugs Poledra in gratitude that she isn't the only one with a baby who doesn't understand the concept of night.
