ooh, £80! Actually, MB I've bought a tankini thing from them before and it's damn good quality. Haven't attempted the underwired hoistemup versions yet though

Does anyone have any tips on making DD stay in bed past 4.sodding30 in the morning. She's been at it for over a week now and I think DH's head is actually going to explode if he doesn't get to have a lie-in. We have tried feeding her, playing with her, changing nappies regardless, leaving her with the lights on and some toys and today... leaving her in the dark to cry for 20 minutes. .None of these have any appreciable effect. She is happy once she is downstairs watching reruns of cagney and lacey and bouncing in her bouncy chair, while mummy mainlines caffeine. It's not that she's hungry- once up she'll wait till 6.30 or so for breakfast and she is still having a bottle at 1-ish and we've introduced a 10 dreamfeed to no avail. All that means is one of us now has to stay up till 10 to give it.

We are not coping well.

merryberry · 29/09/2008 13:10

ours is a more amenable 0500 to 0530, but still driving us spare. been months now. tried all the above too (except cagneya nd lacey: genius). also do not know what to do. nothing worked with ds1 except outgrowing it, and early nights for us. i've also noted all the sleep books (obsessibvely read at all libraries we go into) are quiet/despairing on this topic. please dear god a mum here has an answer?

merryberry · 29/09/2008 15:46

oh crappity crappity, the clocks go back soon as well don't they. SOB

fitnfortyone · 29/09/2008 18:48

oh bollox

evie2000 · 29/09/2008 19:42

hello all, WBPA - have been thinking of you all day - guess you won't see this for a bit but positve vibes coming your way - hope it wasn't too traumatic and hope you're being well cared for back at home.
Wearehipsandmakers - thank you for words of wisdom on florence...and HQ thanks for thinking of it...DH has been AMAZING and booked the most fabulous apartment for us...and a babysitter every night. Am totally thrilled as know it'll be just great. Think Apartment great way to do it with a bit more space, fridge, cooker etc so at least we can eat in during the day and ds can be in own space...so excited and v v spoilt.
as for the ttc - can't work out my cycle at all...so could be many many months before anything exciting transpires. I'll keep you posted!
thanks again

evie2000 · 29/09/2008 19:42

clock change....noooooo - my life is ideal. how the heck does one manage that?!?!?!?
can I stay on bst for rest of the year?

merryberry · 29/09/2008 20:36

phew its a nother month to go. phew.

MarchNowFebMum · 30/09/2008 05:55

wearehips - i could have written your exact message!!! i was just logging in to complain while mainlining. what is the deal? something developmental maybe? i also tried the dream feed to see if would help and after almost 10 days of 4:30/Frasier I am convinced it's not food related.

forget my dh (who is starting new job so forgiven from nights for now) i can't stand the wrestling match that starts around 4 some days. my dd has had a cold for the entire time so I am telling myself to wait until that's over before i sell her on ebay.

it doesn't matter if the time changes, we'll still be up at an ungodly hour!!

MarchNowFebMum · 30/09/2008 05:56

ps two nights ago music (lullaby cd) helped. nothing since then but worth a try?

HolidaysQueen · 30/09/2008 09:39

wbpa - hope everything went well yesterday and that you are home, recovering well and being pampered by DH

evie - florence holiday sounds lovely! babysitter every night? lucky you and DH!

merry - i invested in an almost-but-not-quite-as-expensive swimsuit in June for my holiday due to my body's requirement for industrial-grade engineering and it was well worth the expense. hope the swimming goes well - know you love it!

skidoodle - how do you remember these things?? you're right, i did eat a lot of prunes during pregnancy, and they really did work I tried them on DS mainly because I was a bit nervous about him getting bunged up with solids but they are by far his favourite thing to eat.

On the sleep thing - are your babies sitting/rolling yet? My DS went through a horrendous period of waking between 4.5 and 5.5 months which calmed down a couple of weeks ago once he had mastered both sitting and rolling properly. He now sleeps 8 hours through about 2 nights in 3 which is a hell of a lot better than the 2-3 hour stretches every night that we were getting before. He also drinks HUGE amounts of milk in the evening now which I guess helps him get through the night - last night he had a big breastfeed at 6, then he finished a 200ml/7oz bottle of formula before bed at 7.45 (I was out so DH had to feed him) and then a 260ml/9oz bottle at 11pm demolished in 5 minutes. I have no idea where it goes (hollow legs?)

I'm very proud today: we've just reached 6 months - he was born on 31st so we can celebrate today and tomorrow I am not allowed to have any chocolate to celebrate until after my weigh in at Weightwatchers this morning though. Eeek!!!

wontbepreggersagain · 30/09/2008 09:49

i'm back!! about 2lbs lighter and VERY sore! aparently i have a high anaesthetic threshold- need enough to knock out a horse to make a difference!! have a lovely small incision 'inside the natural contours of the belly button'! i think the surgeon meant it is hidden in the spare tyre .
Spending the day chilling out on the sofa, watching crap daytime tv and mn-ing, well i will until best mate decides to have her baby, i'm her birth partner and i have begged and pleaded to wait a few days, she was due yesterday and pains are getting increasingly more frequent. That could be a fun few hours- i'll kidnap the gas and air i think

merryberry · 30/09/2008 11:07

lol at natural contours. glad it was ok, and i hope yu have fun being a birth partner x

evie2000 · 30/09/2008 12:02

WBPA - great you're home safely - a rather extreme weight loss activity but at least a small silver lining to the cloud. Glad it's done and hope you're enjoying a quiet day.
rotten weather here. Any thoughts anyone - right from the start my ds has always been very sick - doctors not worried. Assumed when on solids things might improve but no such luck - today we've seen breakfast coming back a number of times some hours after eating. Does anyone have any knowledge or thoughts on this - should one just not worry and put up with it.
have a good day one and all (and yes, I am very very spoilt getting a baby sitter every night - DH realises it' the only way to prevent me spending too much time cooking whilst on holidays!)

wontbepreggersagain · 30/09/2008 13:09

dear god..... how long does it take to have a blardy baby? its her fourth- i figured a quick cough and it would fall out and bungee on its cord

Aparently not, i know i wanted her to wait but i'm getting fed up now- who goes to full term anyway

So i'm still stuck on the sofa willing her to hurry up so i have an excuse to get up and DO something, i'm bored!!!!!

monthlymayhem · 30/09/2008 16:44

Hello

Glad to hear it all went ok WBPA, enjoy relaxing on the sofa!!!

Evie - very jealous of your trip to Florence - DH and I went with some friends a couple of years ago and stayed at a gorgeous villa just outside of Florence set in a vineyard Florence was absolutely fab, lots of really nice restaurants and the weather will be perfect at this time of year

On the early wakings - LO went through a phase of waking up at 5am ish around about 4 months, and it lasted a couple of weeks. We didn't do anything to stop it, it just stopped of it's own accord and he now generally gets up around 7am which is better ...that said he's still feeding through the night (after a couple of good nights which lulled us into thinking it was getting better!) - last night, 12pm, 2.30 am, 4.30am and finally 7am. He is still very uninterested in having milk during the day, whether breast or bottle and has obviously decided to have his milk at night. He is wolfing down the solids though, except when his gums hurt.

wearehipsandmakers · 01/10/2008 09:54

Glad to hear I'm not alone, I guess it's true that misery loves company. Hopefully, it's just a phase for her then, not all the time like poor you merryberry.Up at 4 0'clock this morning tho' she had had a poo and did go back to sleep again at about 5. Then DS got up at 6 asking if it was stupid'o'clock or if he could have a story. Dear God the joys of trying to focus on Thomas the Tank Engine at that time.
She sounds like your DS monthlymayhem- she has 9oz at bedtime, 9 oz at 10, maybe another 6 oz at 1 ish and then a very ladylike 2oz at breakfast. I don't know quite how to break the cycle without refusing to feed her in the night and I think we need the sleep more at the moment.
She does find the whole of life hugely entertaining at the moment which is nice I suppose but a little more pacing herself would be better.

merryberry · 01/10/2008 10:22

oh, don't pity me, i'm not doing the mornings now he's weaned. dh is. i can't manage in the daytime with ra pain&fatigue, plus the new drugs, plus the kids unless i get better sleep!

wontbepreggersagain · 01/10/2008 12:20

i'm bored! so far i have rolled out of bed- yes rolled literally as i can't bend in the middle atm! fed babies whilst in a semi reclined very weird position, then spent about 40 mins trying to get downstairs- you would not believe the trouble that caused

Now i am happily laying on the sofa with a packet of maryland cookies, a flask of coffee and a banana. DH has gone to find me more books, Twins have gone for a walk with nanny and all other children deposited at school/nursery.

Daytime tv is crappola- am tempted by 'To the manor born' and 'waiting for god' followed by 'surgical spirit' a bit later after my nap

merryberry · 01/10/2008 14:03

ah then, record stuff after dark and then watch entirely inappropriate stuff tomorrow

wontbepreggersagain · 01/10/2008 15:36

tomorrow will be a 'two pints of lager and a packet of crisps' marathon- dh got me a box set today- didn't have the heart to tell him that i used to watch them at 4am whilst feeding the girls and therefore have seen them all! But hey you can never have too much of Will Mellor [swoon]

Feeling a little less sore now, am liking solpadol pain relief!

merryberry · 01/10/2008 19:19

it's got to be better than 'what not to eat' which is tripped over while slumped in front of tv after school run.

iwantasecondone · 01/10/2008 19:54

Hello all...just back from a very long weekend in Lancashire. 6 hour drive home was murder as P still teething. He hasn't gained a single ounce in over a month. Am beginning to hyperventilate. He has grown 2 inches though, so I suppose I should be happy about that? Do I panic yet?

HolidaysQueen · 01/10/2008 20:04

wbpa - you need Sky+ in your life. I got it in June and my hours of bfeeding no longer revolved around crappy BBC property programmes and Jeremy Vile. Instead I have all my favourite crime dramas recorded at 1am off Living/ITV3/Hallmark...

wontbepreggersagain · 02/10/2008 09:40

HQ- we have sky+ BUT dh is keeper of the remote and exclaims in a disgusted voice "WTF is Katie and Peter doing on MY planner"
