Thought it was about time....

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
fitnfortyone · 24/09/2008 14:54

after the vomming incident, decided to sod it and put LO to sleep in the big cot anyway...and he went to sleep! Eventually. He wriggled onto his front and fell asleep like that, so dribble everywhere, the odd bit of snot etc. Shame he kept waking up every couple of hours for a cry, didn't know if he was hungry post-vom, cold or just uncomfortable in the new bed. Gave up just after midnight as i was knackered, stuck him back in the hammock again. Will give big bed another go tonight.
Feeding time again then off to the airport to pick up mum for a few day's visit, prob offline for another few days till that's over, sigh.

iwantasecondone · 24/09/2008 15:29

evie-Hurrah! Wishing you all the very best. Am so looking forward to being sorely disappointed every month. Took us ages too. I'm doing survey for the new Clearblue preggo tests...their new ploy is giving you a window telling you how long ago you conceived. Great. Received it yesterday with a letter telling me they would like me to wait until I think I'm pregnant to use it...but could they have the results by end of October. I'll try!

merryberry · 24/09/2008 16:06

[they're talking about pregnancy i'm sticking my fingers in my ears and going lalalalalalalal again emoticon]

merryberry · 24/09/2008 16:07

good luck, mind! you mad shaggers you

wontbepreggersagain · 24/09/2008 16:13

more children...................

I'm afraid i'm firmly in the no more camp

had ct scan today- waiting for call to see consultant re results- question over whether it is ovarian cysts or something more sinister but either way will be having hysterectomy within a month- damn pesky hormones

sorry to hear everyone's either poorly or lo's are not well- get well soon vibes winging your way (i've got an abundance of them!!)

evie2000 · 24/09/2008 17:10

MB and WBPA - with all going on in your lives it seems a bit indiscreet (wrong word but I hope you know what I mean) to be talking about trying to concieve etc. forgive me.

evie2000 · 24/09/2008 17:14

oh and IWASO I like your attitude to looking forward to the month by month trying - going to make that change in my mentality and see it as exciting trying! Love the idea of tests by end of october - keep me posted and very good luck! How old is your LO now? I've lost track if you early or late in march. I was middle - he's 6months and 8days now

iwantasecondone · 24/09/2008 19:49

WBPA- You are amazing. I hope that things go well for you. Look on the VERY bright side...no more periods! That's got to be a plus! All joking aside, you are an inspiration.
I am trying to be cheerful today despite friend dying and baby being ill.

iwantasecondone · 24/09/2008 19:51

evie- Mine is 6 months on Saturday. If it were to magically take just one month, that would mean 66 weeks between them.

fitnfortyone · 24/09/2008 20:19

Iwaso {{{hugs}}} re your friend, I went through that last October while pregnant and it was really difficult.

To those of you trying again, I'm with MB and sticking my fingers in my ears, but a friend who has 3 (eldest 5yrs) told me to pass on the message that you get this broody feeling at 6months, but give it another month or 2 and it'll pass. If it doesn't pass then go for it with the next one, but save yourself the "oh shit" moment if you're up the duff and suddenly not broody after all

iwantasecondone · 24/09/2008 20:32

fnf1-been broody since I was 8 months pregnant...how that is possible, I don't know!

MarchNowFebMum · 24/09/2008 23:34

ditto ear stuffing over here. def want second but not for a looooong time. like maybe 3 years long time. from friend who has 10 month old and is 3 mos pregnant: i also heard broody peaks at 7 months or so (corresponds with first period for some) but i've got nothing (on the broody front, damn period showed up at 5 months despite breastfeeding!).

iwantasecondone · 25/09/2008 07:19

If it makes you fel better, despite EBF I got my first period 3 weeks after lochia stopped. Which was 8 weeks. Joy.

merryberry · 25/09/2008 08:00

oh evie. don't worry at all, it makes me smile and happy to see it (despite leg crossing fearit also induces!)

HolidaysQueen · 25/09/2008 09:08

merry - isn't pregnancy meant to make the symptoms of RA slightly better

good luck evie and iwaso! think DH is feeling a little broody - keeps saying that DS is all grown up now he can sit in his high chair and eat proper food! but i have to go back to work - want to see if i can do the working mum thing, plus would owe work a lot back if i didn't due to my enhanced mat benefits. so i doubt i'll be trying until next summer at the earliest.

evie - am looking into florence hotels now

wearehipsandmakers · 25/09/2008 10:04

Evie- we 'did' Florence last year but we went self-catering. Got a really nice apartment right in the centre, with travel cot, dishwasher etc. Probably not ideal with little baby as on the 3rd floor with no lift but having said that I'd try and take a back pack rather than a pushchair anyway as streets are really narrow and busy and Italian drivers are.. italian drivers. The best thing about it was it was all open plan apart from bedroom and bathroom so plenty of room for active toddler. All on one level as well.
God, I wish I was going on holiday any time soon. I loved Florence. I suppose until DD sleeps through it probably isn't worth it anyway as I view all of life through a sleep deprived fog.
Sorry to hear your news WBPA- I hope the scans come back in your favour.

merryberry · 25/09/2008 12:45

it did indeed HQ, but now it's so bad i'm on these meds you can't be pg on. plus being 40 and having 2 already (insert spurious green argument here) it's time to stop!

Ewe · 26/09/2008 13:41

ARGHHHH! She is properly crawling, been getting around for a couple of weeks but last night DD properly crawled. She prefers backwards crawling to going forwards but she is proficient in getting everywhere she shouldn't be already!

This weekend is going to be spent babyproofing. I have plug things, stairgates and corner protectors for my v.sharp coffee table. Have I forgotten anything?

Good luck evie and IWASO! Lots of positive thoughts and admiration to WBPA and MB, you amazing ladies!

merryberry · 26/09/2008 14:17

Ewe - strong belts for yourself. You do not want new crawler to ease over to you, and grab trousers down your arse, in public, as ds1 once did

wontbepreggersagain · 26/09/2008 15:41

ewe- from here on my dear you shall have no peace or sanctity, she will follow you to the loo and you will never wee in peace again Now that she's crawling make sure you attach cleaning cloths to her knees so she can polish the floor while she moves

i'm off to the nice BUPA hospital in wrexham on monday to have all baby making bits whipped out via keyhole/ laparoscopy (sp?)! DH is breathing a definate sigh of relief as this means it really is it on the kids front! i feel a bit wobbly about it but i have 5- thats more than enough on some mornings! I'll only be there for the day as long as the anaesthetic goes ok, so dh will probably have to endure a long drive home to me whimpering "oooh" "ohhhhh" "ouch-you bastard, drive ROUND the damn potholes"

fitnfortyone · 26/09/2008 19:49

Best of luck for Monday WBPA, Wrexham's a bit handier for you than Cardiff isn't it? Amazing they can do all that with keyhole surgery. Hope the day isn't too traumatic for you after everything else. x

Getting geared up for LO's first day at nursery on Monday, have negotiated it down to a 1/2 day with the same on Tues as they didn't get in touch to arrange some settling in time.

MarchNowFebMum · 27/09/2008 08:17

good luck wbpa!

LOL at MB - am so glad you warned me as dd is craling on me, standing and cruising, etc and i can see me meeting a similar fate at waitrose! (feel like i spend all my time there btw and am cross about it)

on the safety front, i bought these belts (not for me :.) that attach furniture like bookshelves to the wall and don't forget to move all cleaning supplies out of low easy to reach cupboards

skidoodle · 27/09/2008 12:05

hello everyone,

wbpa hoping all goes well for you on Monday

merryberry glad to hear you're feeling better, hope things continue to improve

HQ didn't you get quite into the pruniness yourself when you were up the duff? No wonder the little fellow loves prunes

I'm very impressed with the mobility of some of these March babies - standing and cruising! Wow, that's great

DD is just starting to look like she might crawl one day. She has never tried to stand at all. I was a little worried she might have some hip issues as her cousin had hip displacia, but she went for an x-ray the other day and all is well.

We finally started on solids and I've surprised myself by being really cautious about it. She's been having baby rice after her evening feed for most of this week. Today we tried her on pureed pear, so I guess that was her first new taste. I'm going to see how she gets on with that for a while.

I'll pick up the pace soon, but for some reason I'm still not 100% thrilled with the idea of giving her food.

She LOVES her high chair (Antilop) though. For the first time ever we are able to eat with her around as she is so happy to be sitting at the table with us.

Good luck all attempting the repregnanting manoeuvre. I'm very glad to hear about the 6-7 month broodiness, as I've been having some very dangerous thoughts recently.

IWASO - snap on periods, 8 weeks & 3 weeks after lochia for me too, although I was having weird light periods every two weeks. I had my first proper period nearly a month ago and 2 weeks before that I'm pretty sure I ovulated for the first time since the baby.

JFly · 27/09/2008 19:30

Good luck and healing thoughts to WBPA for Monday. You are amazing!

For kicks, here's a link to one of my favourite sites Ask Moxie. When I read this post and another about developmental milestones that mess with sleep, I thought of a few of us ++++Iwantasecondone++++. The image of your DS in his cot partying in the middle of the night comes to mind!

Anyway, interesting stuff, and Moxie speaks sense.

merryberry · 28/09/2008 17:27

the fight back continues over here, against all things ill health related. so i bought a cossie to brave the local pool again. but i'm a weird, large pear size. ended up at lands end (the catalogue, not the metaphor)

are you sitting down? i'm sitting down. i advise it. it cost 80 quid.

told you you should have been sitting down didn't i?

i don't think i ever spent more than about 40 quid on a speedo even in my surfing days...pools and seas eat cossies, what's the point in paying much?

well of course there's a point for the kind of underwiring and tummy gripping and hip hiding i need.
