Gill79 · 24/10/2008 20:19

Hello everyone. Well done on the weight loss Sarah! That's great. I've been going to maccy d's and BK for my lunch this week since the kitchen is still pretty much unusable with building work. Though feel like I've been losing weight. The junk food diet - would be really popular if it did work! Have discovered Ella's kitchen stage 2 foods for Malc (on offer in waitrose at the moment and not available in my local sainsbury's) They're delicious and he loves them.

Having a lovely friday night in by myself as DP out and Malc in bed nice and early (sounds sad doesn't it? The truth is if DP is in we're always stressing about something and he gets really annoyed by the tv I like) So am sitting on the floor with laptop, telly, glass of wine and box of chocs

Not much news here apart from Malc has had a very sore botty, red raw to the point of bleeding Am hoping it is teething-related and not a reaction to something he's eaten. On that pleasant note I'll say goodnight!

Well done on the weight loss Sarah - that's fab!

Egg - I've probably said this before but when my nephew was only taking one bottle a day my sil was advised to replace one of his normal solid meals with porridge so she could put the milk in that. He was one yesterday but we didn't get to see him because they live overseas at the mo. They've been trying to get back here but her dh works in research and there are no jobs going because of credit crunch.

Gill - how are your nights now? Are you still bf and how is Malcolm getting on with the bottles in the day? I didn't realise you got stage 2 ellas kitchen - not in any of the supermarkets here unfortunately - my local asda doesn't even do the stage 1 ones.

Schools and nurseries back on Monday after the 2 week break. We've had a really nice break although tbh it's had its moments and I am slightly more frazzled than normal. Dh is working all weekend so we're decamping to my mums for the day tomorrow.

Leesmum - I am right that it's Lees birthday tomorrow? Ds2 will be 4 on Tuesday and is very excited.

I have just seen these very cute - sorry very sad I know but I've had 2 glasses of wine and I really can't handle my drink anymore!!

gingermumi · 25/10/2008 10:43

rozzy!

Well done sarah, am no where near my target weight but have lost about half a stone since we started recording our weights.

Egg, unfortunately dd2 can't get bus, the place is miles away and in the middle of nowhere! Oh well, shouldn't complain it is a charriteee! We're staying at my parents this weekend to look after their dogs (not far) and popping back during the day to do stuff at home, a bit crazy i know but it started out like that when we had to look after my nan as well (she's in a home now) so it's just continued. I think the parents lke it 'cos someone's guarding their house (besides the dogs!) never mind that our house is empty! Can't complain they leave money for take away and loads of food and drink! drank their wine and ended up with a headache though! Another one that can't take her drink here too!

Ds slpet right through, straight 12 hours! It's a smaller cot too... little bugger! have to go, washing to be done. have a good weekend y'all

alkar · 25/10/2008 12:27

DS is still commando crawling too princess, I dont think he will crawl properly he's been doing it for about 8 weeks now and shows no interest in lifting his body up. He can move fast though - just ask the cat

Have you thought of the mini pill rozzy, you can take that whilst bf

Well done on the weight loss Sarah. I had a bad stomach bug last week and have a cold now so I'm quite close to my target weight again.

That sounds like a blissful friday night Gill, before DS I used to love DH going out on a friday night I'd clean the house (sad I know) then sit down in front of the TV with a bottle of wine and relax. I could never relax knowing the hoovering needed doing

Egg · 25/10/2008 13:56

Ooh Gill I am of your Friday night. I do love a Saturday night to myself more though, then I can watch X Factor in peace .

Ginger glad Toby had a great sleep, maybe he should move in with your parents when they are back so you can catch up on sleep .

Rozzy have just started giving DD Ready Brek for breakfast (after checking and checking the packet as I still remember the baby who died after being fed on a diet of ready brek due to the salt ). She loves it so lots of milk in there. She is doing ok on milk really, and eats a yoghurt every day. She seems to now have a 6oz feed first thing, 3/4/5oz at 10:30ish, sometimes an oz or two in afternoon and about 3oz before bed. She did have 7oz before bed the other day so I guess she just takes what she needs (as everyone tells you they do anyway, you just never believe it...!).

Rozzy I think I would go maaaaad if I had all my three at home for two weeks solid. Nursery is my salvation . It was ok having the babies here on Monday although nicer to get the time to myself and no cleaning got done, but I do like a few hours without DS1, bless him, as it means I can actually cuddle the babies a bit more (poor loves still get dumped on floor with toys as long as they are happy).

Am very of the stage 2 Ella's Kitchen sachets! I didn't know they even existed! Am fed up with Plum Baby ones now. We are limited to about 4 or 5 different "meals" and although the babies don't seem to care I am wanting a change! DD did the world's biggest puke yesterday after lunch. No idea why. It was foul. Bleurgh.

Betty hope you are enjoying your DH. Make sure he is waiting on you and bringing you lots of cups of tea etc while he can! How's the sickness? Do you have a scan date yet?

Egg · 25/10/2008 13:56

Alkar - clean the house on a Friday night !

sallyforth · 25/10/2008 19:05

ooh I like these

sallyforth · 25/10/2008 19:12

DS asleep since 6pm. Its supposed to be his suppertime at the moment think this sleepiness may be because DH took him to the park without the raincover on his pushchair and it was really windy and rainy

Egg that salt thing really scares me. eg how much salt is there in sausages? how would I know if my LO had had too much salt? what would happen to him? so scary. sometimes I give him toast but that has loads of salt, ditto cheese. all the stuff he likes (esp sausages!) is salty.

leesmum · 26/10/2008 08:34

Hi everyone (leesmum waving)

Phew, at last new laptop arrived eventually on thurs, and Ds1 is not allowed any food or drink anywhere near this one

Been really busy this weekend Ds1 was 4 yesterday and was so excited, he got a new "big boy" bike, spiderman stuff, games, books and loads of other stuff!!! i've informed everyone that for christmas he'll just be having clothes or books and puzzles, the amount of toys and cars he has is unbelievable.

Anyway i've missed you all loads while i've been away and i'll be honest, i havent read through all the posts that have been on in my absence so i hope i haven't missed out on too much and that you and all your families are well and happy xxx

Happy birthday to all the other big boys/girls who are also turning 4 soon, i look at Ds2 and can't even imagine him being 4, i think i'll savour him being my baby for as long as i can

Bye for now x

Gill79 · 26/10/2008 13:03

Welcome back Leesmum! 4 seems such a long way away but I'm sure it's not really. I'm getting a bit sad about the end of babyhood which seems so close now. I keep finding Malcolm standing up in his cot which is really freaky!

I'm going to have to go on a mission next week to get more of the Ella's kitchen stage 2 I think. They have fish pie (with salmon), chicken casserole made with apricot and mint (yum yum) veg & lentil bake and beef stew. Which reminds me I didn't tell you all that DP fed Malcolm a pot of horse while we were in Sardinia . Yes that is baby food made with horse meat. Can't really blame him that much, he thought it was just a nice picture of a horsie on the label.....

Rozzy since you asked.... he is being a nightmare at night at the moment. Waking for a feed three times a night and a couple of times in the evening for a cuddle (and ends up on the sofa with us looking very very pleased with himself for winning the battle). When he wakes up in the night there's nothing that will shut him up apart from booby. Argggghhhhh. He does have very red cheeks at the moment so hopefully he'll get another tooth and then calm down a bit.

Horrible wet day here but we're off to an end of confinement party for a friend who's baby is 1 month old this afternoon. Hope there's plenty to drink

Welcome home leesmum

DS is crawling!!!! OMG !!!! Can't stop now, just a quicky, hope all having a gd weekend!

princessllama · 26/10/2008 16:22

leesmmum it was dd's birthday yesterday too. she was two. we ended up singing happy birthday for her 4 times as she loved it so much. sadly we have been struck down with the pox so half her friends didn't come to the party. i think Ferdie is just starting too as he has one tiny tiny mark on his face. dd still has them appearing all over but quite dignified. bizarrely she's not itching. anyone know if this will start soon or will we be lucky and not at all?
gill malcolm can claim it later on when they're competing on things they've eaten. dh once ordered horse burger for his horse obsessed sister when they were in spain on holiday as teenagers. she ended up sobbing when she found out what she'd munched through. i can see why he did it though, he was dragged to horse events every weekend of childhood.
betty really glad you have help now. put your feet up.
aaghh everyone's crying and we're all confused with hour change.better go

Gill79 · 26/10/2008 19:23

ooh congrats on the crawling ginger!

and good luck with chicken pox princess...

Sunday night blues. Can't wait for next weekend....

OP posts:
rozzyraspberry · 26/10/2008 21:39

Oh god princess - what a nightmare! Unfortunately I think the itching might start when the spots start to dry up.

Congrats on the crawling ginger - I'm sure you'll get down to your target weight now you have a speedy baby to chase!

Gill - ds3 has been up twice in the night for the last week. He's had a runny nose and red cheeks for what seems like forever but these blardy teeth will not come through!!! Was also up with ds1 and ds2 last night but at least I got a break from 7pm to 1am. Dh was working all day as well so I've been a grumpy tired mum. Fortunately my mum came over for a couple of hours to give ds2 his birthday pressie as she won't see him on Tuesday so he had a lego set to build up to keep him nice and busy.

I somehow managed to keep dc up until 7 (their usual bedtime) so hopefully they won't get up too early tomorrow. School and nursery back from holidays tomorrow - yippee. So I have a couple of hours in the morning to try to make a birthday cake in the shape of a lego brick - never made anything more than fairy cakes or a round sponge before so I don't know what makes me think I'll manage this.

Egg sounds like your dd is having a fair bit of milk - just must be hard not to compare when you have one who's taking lots more.

Sally - I think they recommend no salt until a year although I think a little salt in sausages etc now and again shouldn't do any harm.

Off to bed now - am knackered!

rozzyraspberry · 26/10/2008 21:40

Oh and almost forgot hi leesmum.

Bessie123 · 27/10/2008 11:25

Hi all. As usual, it's been much longer since last post than I meant it to be.

Dd is now quite portly. She weighs 23 pounds and is crawling and standing. She eats loads and has so much milk I worry that I am over feeding her and have secret nightmares about an obese baby. She seems happy enough though.

Tyaca - how far along are you now? I hope the sickness calms down soon.

Leesmum - just looked at your pictures. Your ds1 looks v cute in his superman outfit.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 27/10/2008 17:28

hello everyone,

welcome back bessie and leesmum, good to hear your both good,

not much to say here, but thought id say hi xxx

omy · 27/10/2008 20:16

Hello everyone, it is very comforting reading your news - Gill I tried those stage 2 ellas' kitchen but she wasn't impressed - she much prefers pinching food off my plate!
Hope the pox is a nice mild one Princess - usually is when they are young. There is a homeopathic remedy for the itching - can't remember what it is though - google might know!

Am feeling a bit lonely as I am without the family including LO for the first time! ) a night without the baby - they are with parents in law on hols and I am in london as I had to work today - very sad especially as LO is not well at the moment. She had a temperature for 3 days and I thought it was teething but now the temperature has gone and she has a horrid cough. Really don't like not being with her! Blardy money earning malarkey. Had to express just now as she has been sucking on me day and night when she was ill - I wonder how poor old DH will cope tonight with no boobs!
Off to try to get a good night's sleep though will probably wake 3 times expecting to hear a baby cry!

omy · 27/10/2008 20:19

Happy birthday to little Lee and Princess' DD and Rozzy's DS!

I have been giving LO weetabix for breakfast - off to check the salt content now!
