LM And hope you have a wonderful holiday. Are you going to Superbros?

luckymummy74 · 02/10/2008 22:15

No, going to the Cotswolds, to stay in a log cabin overlooking a lake . Just the four of us, I can't wait.

Sorry, I've been a bit crap at keeping up, but flick I guess you are going away too...have a great time!!

baiyu · 03/10/2008 09:46

otter So glad Hazel is home, I've been thinking about you lots. Wishing you both lots of strength for all the surgery hurdles to come but it sounds like you're doing an amazing job. Well done you.

LM74 That's so rude! I wore glasses as a child and on a train a lady once told my Dad 'What a pretty little girl but what a shame about those glasses!". They were lovely glasses, huge round blue NHS ones, I don't know what she was talking about!

Have lovely holidays all of you, I'm very jealous. I need a holiday!

All's well here but Finn has decided after nearly 2 months of sleeping through the night to stop. Lots of very chilly 2am and 5am breastfeeding, not impressed!

baiyu · 03/10/2008 12:45

I'm not sure if I imagined this but did someone say a while back that they ran a business selling homecooked freezer meals? I'm thinking quite seriously about starting to do something similar so would love any advice (if indeed it was on munmsnet that I saw this, really can't remember. I apologised to my sister this morning for arguing with her before realising that I'd dreamt it - sleep deprivation doing funny things!) Thanks xxx

notsoseriousanymore · 03/10/2008 16:39

Hi all!!

Flick - thanks for the booties!! They are gorgeous and DS is wearing them as I write!! They are so wonderful!! His hat is still a bit big, but we have just booked our skiing holiday for next February and it will be wonderful by then!!! Have a WONDERFUL holiday and I'll see you at the Baby Show!!!

LM - Bl**dy nuns!! Your DD2 is LOVELY. I suppose you can pass it off as them never having children and understanding how that feels. I know that I am much calmer, more considerate and understanding since I had DS!! Have a lovely holiday!!

Baiyu - I think there is a definite market for home cooked frozen meals - there is a place that does them here (We are just north of London) but my feeling is that it might be tough to start up as many people are feeling the pinch with the economy - I have started cooking meals and freezing them (Something I NEVER thought I'd do!!!) rather than eating out so often.. I had friends over last night, and cooked (the first time I had done so for these friends - who I've been good friends with since Uni!!! )

Michell - You will love the booties - they stay on SOO well!! Did the sellotape arrive?

Pina - Hope you have a lovely holiday too - Gosh, so many people are on holiday this week!

Hope everyone else is well!!

Can I ask how many of the babies are now sleeping in thier own rooms? DS has a (GORGEOUS) nursery all ready for him, but is still sleeping in his little crib along side my bed. DH thinks it's time he (DS!) moved into his own room but I don't know if it's a little too soon (he's 4.5 months) - The larger crib is on wheels so I could wheel it into our room so that he gets used to sleeping in it... WOuld appreciate your views!!!

And what about rolling and sitting up? DS is rolling onto his back when placed onto his tummy and rolls half way when on his back (He doesn't like to be on his tummy!) and he is also sitting up by himself (though it's a little wobbly at times!) No more signs of teeth here, though!!

Anyway, better go - Bathtime soon!!

NSSAxx

Hi all, so glad things are ok Otter, hugs for you, OH and Hazel and hope the 'normal babydom' will gradually take over for you all.
I've had a shit day today. I've shouted and jumped up and down at J, shouted and sent K to the naughty step for her whiney noise. I must have really upset her coz 5 hours later she nearly made 'that noise' again, sniffed (her comfort thing) then gave me a big hug instead. The jumping up and down at J was kind of stress relief rather than punching something I'd have to tidy up....

Everything is better now, both girls in bed and sleeping, but i just hate the way everything is goine fine then (for no apparant reason) it all goes to hell. If I thought I was extra- sleep deprived, or J was sick, (she seemed to be extra crying today) I could understand it, but its just a bad day.
Grrr. thanks, feel better for sharing with people who might (or might not)know where I'm coming from.

mumofK&J- sorry to hear about your bad day, think we all have days like that sometimes when we want to scream!

Pina - ds doing exactly the same rolling onto front getting stuck & screaming which is driving me a bit mad, especially when you turn them back and they immediately do it again and again!

NSSA - ds went into his own room when he was 3 weeks, mainly because the moses basket wasn't really big enough for him & he would hit his arms on the side and wake up so he and we slept better once he was in his cot. Plus his room is right next door so he's not far away.

Hi Pina, am fine thanks. It's a shame about the price of aquababies as would have loved to do it with ds but we can't afford it at the moment.

We are having our bathroom gutted and re-done next week, it really needs doing but we will have basically no money left after! Just been and chosen some tiles, ended up costing more than we'd planned but they are really nice!

Hope you have a nice birthday and great holiday. We should arrange our meet up sometime!

Happy happy Birthday Pina, Hope you had a wonderful night out last night and not feeling too rough today . Hope you had a good holiday, see you in 2 weeks.

NSSA: No it hasn't arrived yet, maybe Monday. Thanks again though
The booties arrived and they are very cute and the 18-24month fit DD, she does have tiny feet though. DS1 already has 3 sizes bigger than his older sister.

Mumofkandj Hope things are better

Indigo: nice to see you

I must go finish making DD castle cake, my baby is 8 years old today.

notsoseriousanymore · 05/10/2008 15:22

Happy birthday Pina and Mitchell's DD!!!

Hope you both have great days!!!

NSSA!

monkeysmama · 06/10/2008 21:40

Hi ladies

Finally got five minutes to read through all the posts I've missed and say hey.

I know Flick's on holiday but Stella's booties arrived a day or two ago and have attracted several nice comments so I've givene the two women who asked your website details. I love them!

She is still not sleeping - in fact if anything it is getting worse. She goes down at 830 as usual then wakes up at 2 and from then on every hour or so until 7.

Anyway, better go - ti's almost 10 and have promised dp a nice evening which i don't think includes me on MN!

Hope everyone is well and happy - will check in again in the next day or so. Think of you all often even though I am not such a regular anymore.

MM

magicfairy · 06/10/2008 21:59

mm - just thought id respond instead of just reading, ds2 is now going down to bed between 7 1nd 8, then wakes up around 10, then evrey 2 hours, i think! We are not alone with those crappy sleepers! Goodnight

macaco · 07/10/2008 08:09

magicfairy and MM I'm so sorry to hear you're not sleeping...you must both be knackered. Are you both breastfeeding, would co sleeping help? I really hope things get easier soon. Are your DCs teething?
Not much to report here. I went back to work (2 and half days a week) last week and it was fine, despite all my wailing and gnashing of teeth. Mum's looking after DS and so far it's working well.

baiyu · 07/10/2008 20:44

No sleep here either... After 8 weeks of lovely sleep between about 10-11pm and 7-8am it has now all gone to pot. Last night I fed at midnight, 1.30am, 3am, 5am, 6am....and managed to get him to go back to sleep without a feed about 5 times on top of that.
DP slept through...
Today I'm knackered, trying very hard to write an essay and DP is being grumpy because I demanded a but of priorioty for my (rather urgent) work for the first time ever and he had to have DS for the afternoon.
Ok, rant over, back to work!

macaco · 08/10/2008 10:28

strange things going on with sleep here.
DS was being all shouty...gooo gaaa ooooo....not crying though, just shouty at 3am. After about 15 mins he went back to sleep. Then again at 6am and I go in and he's wrestling a teddy, sees me and starts to laugh! Don't know what he's up to.

Also usually he's awake about 2 hours at a time so sleeps 9-11, 1.30-3.30 and maybe 4.30-5.30 (veeeeery roughly) but yesterday was up for 3.5 hours in the morning and 4 hours solid all afternoon. He didn't even seem tired and when I put him down for his nap he just started the shoutiness (but not distressed, just loud babbling) and when I went up he was wrestling his toy octopus.

I went up at one point yesterday thinking he'd dropped off and he was clinging onto the cot bars, chewing them!

Aren't they strange little people?

notsoseriousanymore · 08/10/2008 15:57

Hey all!

Yes, they are strange little people.

DS is so happy and gurgly at the moment - he is obviously exploring making different sounds and even he looks quite shocked at some of them!

Hope everyone is well - it's been a rough old day with the banks, hasn't it? Rather worrying really!!!

No other news here - DS and I are just mooching and doing the garden! THe weather has been lovely here!

monkeysmama · 08/10/2008 18:13

Macaco yes, dd is breastfed. She's been finishing the night in bed with me which makes it easier to feed her what feels like every 5 minutes! Having said that, she only woke once between 9 and 630 last night at 2 for food. I find it reassuring that other babies are doing the same (whilst feeling sorry for their mummies). Someone suggested it is a 4/5 month thing?

I am about to write to work to tell them I'm taking another 6 months off. I am not enjoying being skint but am loving my time with dd and dp earns enough to pay our mortgage & for me to stay off until my statutory maternity pay ends.

Any other babies scratching? I cut dd's nails every 2 or 3 days but she is scratching and grabbing me (my hair, nipple, handfuls of flesh, eyes, lips, nose ) and hurting quite a lot. Not sure when to start the "that hurts mummy" and putting her down as it usually happens when she's playing and really fun and happy.

I tried to register for swimming but the waiting list locally is 8 months! I think I might just try taking her myself. Do any of you who are taking LOs swimming think that sounds okay or crazy mad?

Hope everyone is okay?

MM

monkeysmama · 08/10/2008 18:35

P.S Talking of strange little people. I was singing along to the radio (as you do) the other day when S-Express came on. Dd thinks it is hilarious when I whisper "S-Express" and laughs out loud...?!??

notsoseriousanymore · 08/10/2008 19:12

MM - DS has been swimming for about a month now, maybe a little more, and is now swimming unaided.

I'd def. recommend lessons as you learn the right technique and I am sure that makes the babies more confident.

DS loves it! I'd really recommend starting sooner rather than later!

mumofkandj · 09/10/2008 14:18

Hi all,J is sleeping so can get on the laptop. We're having a mortgage party! more specifically, its a 'we've paid offour mortgage so I don't have to go straight back to work, and then DH is going part-time to be with the girls' party.

On a downside I'm struggling with lack of sleep so we've been playing with j's bedtime. she now does a 4.5 hr stretch, last night 9-1.30 am but she spends the evening downstirs with us, either dozing or playing, both not restful enough for me! Tonight i'm ready to try 7 pm bedtime again, and just rest in bed with her (she was screaming roughly every 40 mins if i went downstairs after she went to sleep, then feeding frequently all night). I wish they came with specific manuals for each baby- your baby will not like dummies but will love bread crusts, for example, and doing x is THE RIGHT THING for your baby!
right, time for a doze,
mokj

magicfairy · 09/10/2008 14:54

hui all, heller of a night last night, ds2 had his 3rd set of jabs yeasterday and is not happy one little bit, burning hot, very upset and lethargic, por little fella. He seems a bit better this arvo. osds law though and ds1 is refusing to nap!

mm - i took ds1 for swim lessons from 8 weeks old, which at the time i though were great, he swam unaided, underwater etc etc. i stopped taking him when he was almost one , i missed a term and then couldnt afford it anymore. I then used to take him once a week myself, all he wanted to do was jump in and splash! Now we go semi-regulary and he swims with armbands on his own and is very confident. People are amazed at his confidence for a 2 yr old. But i rekon this is due to my confidence with him, as missing one term he seemed to forget all of his lessons and is now great in the pool. I am taking ds2 myself and he loves it. We arent doing the lessons this time as money is very tight for us. I think the lessons were great for my confidence. So go for it, as long as you feel confident to do it yourself as i think babies would pick up on it if you didnt.

notsoseriousanymore · 09/10/2008 20:28

MF - I totally agree with the confidence thing... Learning how to properly submerse DS and bring him up again is really important and I am sure will have long term benefits with DS's confidence in water too.

It's the end of the term next week and there is an under-water photographer coming to the class. I really would love a photo of DS swimming, so fingers crossed he won't choose next week to take a dislike to being under water!!!

Ds is sleeping quite consistently now, though still waking up each and every night for a feed. he's starving most of the time, though is only just average weight for his age!!! I don't know where he puts it!!!
