Hello people, is anyone there?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BouncingTurtle · 27/09/2008 10:23

Skid - welcome to the group, actually it's been a bit quiet on there lately!

Arcadie - actually it went from bad to worse on Friday, my boss ended up having a furious row with another of the senior managers and his boss, and ended up storming out he was so angry
Plus the other senior manager made himself look like an absolute tit and he was lucky he made it out of our site morning meeting alive

suey2 · 27/09/2008 11:18

hello all,
Arcadie not that high powered! I have a private physio practice.
Tis quiet, eh? I don't do facebook though

Arcadie · 27/09/2008 14:07

Join Facebook!? How do I sign up!?

Arcadie · 27/09/2008 14:10

Ahhhh rubbish BT. Very sorry to hear it. Will keep all things crossed that it makes no diff to your request.

On a different (and obviously much more me-centred) vein. Guess what I did on Thursday night!?

I got to be birth partner for my friend and see her have her most beautiful snuggly little baby boy. Most amazing experience. Still quite glad it wasn't me though.

Arcadie · 27/09/2008 14:13

OK if the group is MN Dec 07 then I've just requested to join too. Ahem - if that's ok for a newby...

BouncingTurtle · 27/09/2008 18:09

Of course!
How amazing, what you did and congrats to your friend

Arcadie · 27/09/2008 20:14

Skid Re Facebook - yes you'll have to be friends with people to see their pictures. I may be a relative newby here on MN but BOY do I know my facebook. Feel free to "befriend" and check out my uber geeky month by month pictures of DS and DD!!!

insywinsyspider · 27/09/2008 22:03

Arcadie - people who don't discuss poo obviously don't have children, I find myself talking bout it all the time since having ds - it takes up such a huge amount of my day
also what an amazing experience to be friends birth partner (and very brave!) so sure I'd want to see it from the 'other' side...

Wizzka - lol at your poo story - sorry it bad at time but loads of milage in funny story now

wow at all lo's taking steps! ds2 is on his feet cruising, dh took him to have feet measured as ds1 needed new shoes and he is same size as ds1 was when he had first pair of soft cruising shoes saved me getting anymore! what are the chances of that?!?

insywinsyspider · 27/09/2008 22:09

just asked to join facebook group too hope thats ok - and how weird is it we all have real names - I've no idea who anyone is on there!

Arcadie · 27/09/2008 23:05

Hey Insy Why the ? Facebook rules. Not as much as MN obviously.

nice job on the shoes. But I have to ask. What are cruising shoes? DD hasn't ever even really worn socks, so with no hint of disapproval only interest, why shoes?

And poo seems to dominate this week's discussions in the Arcadie household.

Being birth partner - no bravery involved - just so honoured to have been allowed at such as precious moment in someone's life. She had it all sorted - in fact I just sent her back her birth plan with a load of "yep you did that" ticks all over it!

And I know it seems I'm all over this thread today - DH on call out tonight and has hidden the tv remote. Internet is all there is!

claraquitetirednow · 28/09/2008 03:16

Anyone who likes discussing poo should come and live out here in Pakistan - everyone (adults included) talk about it all the time as most people seem to have the sh*ts constantly!! I have been relatively lucky but this being such a small community, I knew by nine o'clock in the morning the day our deputy was laid up in bed with a bad case of the runs! (that's the ayah network for you...).

Still no firm news on our future. Getting very frustrated now! Still hoping to have our holiday to Thailand in three weeks time though.

Insy - I was thinking about shoes the other day as dd2 has never worn a pair, socks neither. I hate the thought of putting her in shoes but I think we are nearing the time where we will have to as she cruises around all over the place and sooner or later is going to step in something.

I stayed up until midnight last night, playing Wii with some friends. I am so glad I didn't drink or I would be dead this morning. Oh those child-free days/nights seem a long time ago now.

BouncingTurtle · 28/09/2008 06:49

Arcadie - I've approved you!! BTW you do realise hiding the remote is a divorceable offence Your DH is very mean!

Hi Claraq - sorry you still have had no news! Hopefully you'll find out something soon.

DS said 'Mama' yesterday!! I was in the car and DH put DS in the car seat and he looked at me and said 'Mama' He has been saying Mum-mum lots as well but DH wasn't convinced he was saying it meaning me, he thought he was just babbling, but there has been times when he has called out 'Mum-mum' and looked at or for me!

I've also told him has to take his first steps tomorrow as that is when he'll be 9mos and 2 days
He does love to stand up leaning on our coffee table but can stand on his own for a few seconds as well.

insywinsyspider · 28/09/2008 20:10

hi Arcadie - ds2 in shoes when we are outside to protect his feet when crawling, I like to let him crawl about when we go to park, I have a pair of water proof salopets so his clothes don't get too mucky too. I'm a bit ott bout shoes because when ds1 was just starting to walk I let him go in garden in bare feet - it was summer too - and he got a splinter, it broke off when I tried to get it out and we had to take him to A&E the next day and have it cut out was horrible he screamed blue murder and it took my dh and another doc to hold him down and that was after 2 locals on his foot - I had to leave as too upsetting - I'd be rubbish if he was properly ill anytime anyway took him straight from hosp to shop for cruising shoes which are basically softer soles as you are not meant to put them in proper walking shoes till they have been on their feet for a few weeks so he had some protection - been a bit paranoid of bits of wood since

Wizzska · 29/09/2008 10:06

Please don't all go to facebook. I really don't want to have to join facebook, have really been trying to avoid it.

Ooh Bouncing - its all kicking off at your work isn't it. Hang on in there.

Arcadie - Good for you resigning. I must admit I'd love to. I'll give it til Christmas just to see how our finances stretch. I hate leaving DS in the mornings, but at least now I'm not weeping on my way to the bus stop when I go to work.

Having absolutely awful nights lately. Since our holiday DS is not sleeping though and he's waking and absolutely wailing for ages. We're at a loss as to what to do. We've given Calpol for suspected teething pain. He's got a runny nose too which may be bothering him. I've decided to do what I did before when he was 6 months old which finally got him sleeping through to try to help him settle himself. We go in to show we're near but then leave him to cry . It's awful but we re-visit every now and then. Last night he just wouldn't go and we left him, re-visited, left, re-visited and he wailed and wailed. Stupid us didn't check his nappy so didn't realise for an hour that he'd done an enormous poo. Am totally knackered this morning and so is DH and feel really guilty.

skidaddle · 29/09/2008 10:25

oh no wizz - poor you - hope it did some good and you all will suffer less tonight

I also battled against facebook until last week - just didnt want to get into it all but then DH joined and my curiosity got the better of me - I keep searching old school friends and boyfriends - as if I need another distraction from my thesis...

insy - your poor DS1 - that is why I want to get DS shoes although he's not quite walking but DH thinks it's a ridniculous waste of money. I think I will tell him your story and see if that convinces him

BT - wow at DS saying mama - is that our Dec 07 first word?!

Arcadie - that must have been so amazing being a birth partner. I would love to do that. In fact my best friend is pg so maybe I will send her DP off the weekend when she is 39 weeks so I can be one too! Not sure how keen she would be though...

anyone else's baby biting when feeding? DS does this just as he's latching on and it bl**dy hurts. I think it has become a game now because I squealed in pain the first few times. eminds me of those dark days of mastitis and thrush when he was tiny

Wizzska · 29/09/2008 10:56

Oh Skid, poor you. Don't get sore nips again! DS has bitten me a couple of times too but I squealed and unlatched him he seemed to look at me puzzled and shocked and hasn't done it since.

Lucky you being a birth partner Arcadie. Nearest I've got lately is visiting my friend's week old boy yesterday. It's so funny holding them at that age. He was light as a feather after my big lump of a boy. Am very broody.

OP posts:
skidaddle · 29/09/2008 11:01

Oh God I'm broody too wizz, those little newborns trigger some kind of hormonal madness in me

suey2 · 29/09/2008 11:01

i second wizz's comment- i am not doing facebook! Please don't all go away.....

No biting here, skid, but then no teeth

Millie has been saying mama, baba, fafa, vava but no dada yet - much to dh's frustration. I am not convinced it is with reason yet, however

Wizzska · 29/09/2008 11:12

We've been getting a lot of Mum mum and da da, but not sure he means it. Usually we get more Mum sounds when he's teething so we're getting them lots at the moment. Am hoping he'll get his top middle teeth soon so he won't be fang boy anymore. At the moment he's got two bottom middle teeth and two top second teeth so he looks like fang boy. It's quite sweet really. Will try and post a pic.

Wizzska · 29/09/2008 11:17

Fang boy pic on.

mellymooks · 29/09/2008 14:09

Hi ya everyone, have just read the last few days and have now promptly forgotten who said what!
We've just been to Cornwall for a few days and Kaesha put her toes in the sea! She's been saying ma-ma for a while now and last week she said "baby" which was very exciting!!
She crying now gotta run xx

insywinsyspider · 29/09/2008 14:22

v cute fang boy pics! hope you have a better night tonight, we've all got sticking colds, ds's taking it in turns to be up, I was actually quite pleased when ds1 just got out of bed and crawled in with us, saved me freezing my arse off again - anyone elses dh's being stingy with the heating? we had it on all winter last year for ds2 and apparently this year a good jumper will do it on plus side he gave me lie in till 7.45am (only since having kids does that class as a lie in!) and brought me cup of coffee

skid - sorry to hear ds is bitting, owww! my friends lo has done this, she just said No and took him off and put him on floor, she'd distract him with something else then feed him again - took a few days but he stopped biting - he's same age as our lo's so must be a stage they go thro!

can so undersatnd being v broody - I forgot how frustrating the ttc stage was! i have completely unjustifiable envy when someone tells me they are pg

insywinsyspider · 29/09/2008 14:22

x posts melly - sorry and hello!

suey2 · 29/09/2008 15:02

cool phots, wizz- they really are growing up fast eh?

Wizzska · 29/09/2008 15:42

Insy - yes, stingy this year with the heating, and with everything. Am trying to save as much money as possible. Am not quite feeling the crunch yet as still have lots of new clothes to play with from shopping in America. I don't feel too guilty though, because there was one time I would have spent all my money on Seven jeans and Kenneth Cole bags when in New York, this time I was buying dresses in Target (Woolies/Tesco equivalent). It helps that my body image is down the pan since having DS so I don't quite feel its worth buying designer gear - polishing sh*te my DH would say (though he wouldn't dare say it about me).
