It has been a tough morning here

oooggs · 16/07/2008 12:04

what's happened dippy?

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2008 12:07

Anything in particular Dippy, or what you've mentioned?

CaptainDippy · 16/07/2008 12:14

P hasn't settled at all this morning, she's been in her cot for 2 hrs crying and whinging on and off Is that really mean of me!!? I feel bad about it, I also feel anxious that she is not napping I just feel rough and under the weather and overwhlemed. Not nice. So sorry to moan, just had enough Thanks guys. xx

oooggs · 16/07/2008 12:17

At times like that I would chuck place her nicely in her car seat and drive around the block

Bramshott · 16/07/2008 12:23

Aww, Dippy. Do you use a monitor, or are you near enough to hear the wingeing? I must admit that when it's nap time I usually just toss O into her cot, and then go and get on with my own thing for a couple of hours and figure it's her choice if she sleeps or not. She is not a screamer though, although if I am downstairs on the computer or in the garden, I wouldn't hear all but the loudest screams anyway. Her nap time is my time, and I'm blowed if I'm going to waste it worrying if she is or isn't asleep .

On a more practical note, I know it's probably convenient for her to sleep in the mornings, but do you think she's maybe not tired enough? O has been having her nap after lunch since she was 12 months-ish and it suits her better. Just a thought.

CaptainDippy · 16/07/2008 12:23

Two problems there ....

1.) P doesn't like being in the car

2.) DH has car at work

CaptainDippy · 16/07/2008 12:35

That's what I am worried about Bramshott - that she's not tired enough. It is very sudden though - she was sleeping fine just a few days ago I don't think it could change as quick as that, could it!!? I am really really hoping it just teeth. I am just stressing out so much. I need to work in the mornings DH is home for lunch. I want to cry.

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2008 12:36

Not really mean Dippy but is it possible she just doesn't want a morning nap any more? Any way things can change - does she normally sleep in the afternoon instead / as well?

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2008 12:37

x posted Dippy, sorry
Something has to change! Can your DH take some time off work and can you have a rest? I know you say it's not possible but iff you make yourself ill(er) you both won't get a choice!

Bramshott · 16/07/2008 12:38

Oh sweetie! In that case, just keep at it, and get on with your work regardless - she'll be okay! If she's really not sleeping, can you put loads of toys in the cot and she can just amuse herself? Will you still have to keep working mornings over the summer holidays?

Sexonlegs · 16/07/2008 12:55

Hello

Dippy, I wish there was something I could do to help. What time does P wake in the morning? I find that unless K has had a bad night, she only sleeps after lunch. I know this is not want you want to hear
Huge hugs to you. xx

Hi Liath, good to see you. Enjoy your walk.

POTC, hope you catching up on your work ok. Fancy being distracted!

Hi MJ, good luck with work.

SPB, glad to hear T is better.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Been to B's sports day - it went on for over 2 hours! She did ok, but got in to a paddy cos she only came 2nd out of 4 in the first race. Her friend was really sweet and came over and hugged her and told her not to worry and that she (the friend) had come last!! She did come first in the sprint though [proud mummy emoticon] It was funny; everyone was all very polite/restrained until the sprint race, and then the parents went mad shouting and trying to make their way to the finish line to see their dc cross it! Also interesting that there were loads of parents from Year R, but barely any as the children got older!

I was really nervous on B's behalf I have to say!

K is ok; I am sure it is just teeth; she is not handling it well.

Right, better get lunch.

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2008 13:08

advice n eeded!
after this feed we're going to the post office in the next village (about 1 mile away). going to let t walk some of the way on reins. do i take pushchair and look like an idiot pushing it empty? or not and end up with arms like arnie haing to carry him? push a stuffed toy? how much is he likely to walk, in reality?

liath · 16/07/2008 13:27

SPB - ds walked to shop recently on reins, probably about half a mile but refused to walk back and I ended up carrying him, the shopping and holding dd's hand! Do you have a sing you could take? That'd be easier than the buggy.

SOL, well done to B in th sprint !

Dippy, so sorry you are feeling crap at the moment, hope things perk up for you .

Eddas · 16/07/2008 17:00

loft conversion sounds fab oooggs. fingers crossed it gets done quickly and smoothly. It'll be lovely for you to have those extra bedrooms

SPB, i always take the pushchair. Not because they may not walk but because I alwyas get hacked off walking like a snail/chasing round and pulling them to move the direction that I want to go in

CD {{{hugs}}} ds still naps in the morning. He wakes anywhere from 6-7.30 normally and then naps from 9.30-10 til 11.45 or later if I don't have to wake him to collect dd. I would think it's teeth playing her up. She has 20 to push through. It maybe that they all giving her grief atm. DS is teething and is whinging on and off all the time I know just how hard it is to work from home. I am supposed to do 7.5 hours each week from home and it's a complete PITA. Is it at all possible to do your work in the evening? I know that's not ideal and you are tired and fed up by then, but I have resigned myself to the fact that that is the only time I can do it, well most of the time. I even thought I may try and do the whole lot straight through one night and just get a couple of early nights to catch up

We've been to the beach today(Dymchurch) was nice but I am not a beach person. Hate the sun and sand next time i'll make sure i have a chair and parasole so I can keep cooler dd loved it as did dh. Poor ds isn't feeling too good so wasn't that bothered poor mite is suffering teeth I think

CaptainDippy · 16/07/2008 17:54

Thanks guys.

NorthernLurker · 16/07/2008 18:02

Hi all

Poor dd1 is under the weather with a high temp so will be missing the second performance of Joesph tonight at her school (she was a narrator) Fortunately we went last night so it's not a disaster but still a bit for her. She is being very brave though - just wants to lie down poor mite.

Dippy - so sorry you've had such a tough day. Did P nap at all?

Hope the poorly babies are better - what did you do about the walk SPB?

CaptainDippy · 16/07/2008 18:07

Poor DD1 NL Nope, no nap from P today

NorthernLurker · 16/07/2008 18:11

Oh no - poor Dippy!

I was thinking about the morning/afternoon nap thing and just wanted to say that afternoon nappers can sleep well at night at night too. My big girls were afternoon nappers and now B is as well and they all sleep fine. Infact dd2 aged 4 was capable of a 2 hour nap and then a full nights sleep. The staff at her nursery couldn't believe it! I don't know if that is a concern of yours - that if she napped in the pm instead she then wouldn't sleep at night - but if it is just wanted to say that it needn't be - iyswim

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2008 18:26

Oh no NL, hope she is better soon. Sounds like she was given a very responsible job!
In the end he went in the pushchair, I also had trouble getting him to walk in a particular direction, plus I couldn't push and hold the reins. Never mind maybe on a shorter one (with DH when he can carry him when he gets tired )
T has just clapped for the first time

CaptainDippy · 16/07/2008 18:32

Not one of my concerns NL, it is just bloody inconvienent and a PITA tbh

NorthernLurker · 16/07/2008 18:38

hmmm - ok then Dippy what about 'playpen time'? You put her in the playpen for two hours and she plays or naps or whatever? I used to do that with dd1 to stop her driving me crazy in the mornings

Eddas · 16/07/2008 18:48

SPB, glad you took the pushchair i can't stand the pulling my in whichever direction apart from the one I want to go in thing

oh cd fingers crossed this is just a blip and she naps again soon. Can i offer more {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}

i've uploaded some beach photos if anyone fancies a look

Eddas · 16/07/2008 18:49

nl, hope dd1 feels better soon and she's not too disappointed with missing her play

NorthernLurker · 16/07/2008 18:56

Thanks Eddas - she's ok (phew, she's very sensible and doesn't want to do soemthing if she knows she's not well enough. Lovely pics!! B love dthe beach last weekend

Dh has just rung (he's away for work) and he feels exactly like dd1 and is going to bed early. I don't feel on top form myself and am wondering if it'll be me ringing in sick tomorrow!
