spagblog - aren't dd's supposed to get language first anyway - I think this is normal.

As for nursery guilts - you got me. We've been having this constantly and even more so now dd has moved into this new room and sobs everytime I leave her (it is just killing me - bring on the BFP)Apparently she does settle down quickly after I leave. What our nursery tends to do is not worry if they have a 'cold' so much it is when they are obviously feeling grotty and won't be put down and are 'not themselves' that they tend to call and let you know. The only other time they have called was when she had thrown up and had a temp.
You can only stretch yourself so far and in a way MrsD your dh is right and it is what my dh and I keep telling ourselves almost every day - we are doing all we can...

Oh on another note one of my best friends had a little girl on Sunday evening and I was the first non family visitor yesterday after work as they got home at midday yesterday. She is so tiny and dd was smaller and it is hard to remember how small she was.

Fennel · 22/02/2005 14:17

I don't feel bad about putting babies in nursery with a cold as so many times I've dithered when they seem a bit off form and then nursery have told me they've been fine and had a lovely day. they get better and worse so quickly.

am not sure dd3 can be said to be "talking" with about 1 word (she used to have 2 but forgot one).

LucyJones · 22/02/2005 18:24

Hi everyone. I do't think ds is cold Fennel as his room as the boiler in it!! Handing in my notice on Friday. Feel a bit scared I'm not doing the right thing, career going down the drain etc, but I just hate it so much!

TracyK · 22/02/2005 18:57

ds has snotty nose and gunky eyes - so pinned him down after bath and put som bm in them - lets hope it works.
I think they prob get on better at nursery if they are poorly - so much more action to distract them and nursery would phone you in an instant if they thought they'd be better off at home. They still get paid so no odds to them.

dolbear · 22/02/2005 19:42

hello sos have not been aound for a bit

ds also snots and gunky eyes as well as little bitof a temp

so not much sleep in the dolbear hse hold

spagblog · 22/02/2005 20:06

LucyJones, sorry I have missed out on a lot on here. Why are you leaving? I am sure you have done the right thing whatever the reason! Lots of positive thoughts!

LucyJones · 22/02/2005 20:14

Thanks spagbol. I'm leaving because I hate working there. But I'm a bit worried about having no money, no career, going nuts at home and driving ds and dh mad with my nuttiness We're going to keep ds in nursery one day a week (he currently does two) because he loves it so much. I guess this is the 1st time i'm selfishly doing something for me and it feels very wrong iyswim

Fennel · 22/02/2005 20:16

lucyjones I think it's probably the right thing if you hate it.
you can always find a career again one day if you care to.

I put the heating up in dd3's bedroom and she slept better so I think she was cold - but we keep our house quite cool at night and she's on 2 outside walls.

LucyJones · 22/02/2005 20:18

yes, logically I know you're right, I think the fear is that because I hate working now I will always remember I hated it and never want to go back which will be miserable when I have too.

hewlettsdaughter · 22/02/2005 20:19

But isn't the grass always greener? You'll probably WANT to go back when you start to think seriously about it again!
Sounds like a positive decision to me, LJ.

LucyJones · 22/02/2005 20:20

Thanks HD. I just need to keep the pessimistic thoughts at bay and the guilt!!!

MrsDoolittle · 22/02/2005 20:24

If I was in my old job I would feel guilty...... for about 2 seconds!!
Honestly LJ, if you hate it stay at home with Ds and make more babies. I would!!
My lovely colleagues always say to me, your family is your whole life, work is only part of it! This says alot to me!

KristinaM · 22/02/2005 20:26

Hi all - sorry have not been around for a while. Hello to Gorgeousgirl - my two youngest are the same ages as yours - boy of 9 months and girl of nearly 5yo.I lurk here as baby was due April 04 but came 2 weeks late. And of course because all the girlies here are so nice [sycophantic emoticon]

Am still BF teething snotty baby but am a bit fed up with it now (the BF I mean and the teething, not the baby!!!). Like Fennel i find I'm exhausted and have no sex drive. Baby has been crawling for 3 months and cruising for one but thankfully shows no signs of walking yet.

Also he is not sleeping through the night yet. SIGH [exhasted emoticon]

KristinaM · 22/02/2005 20:27

Lj I'm due back to work soon but I'm thinking of applying for a career break. Also called putting off the decision

LucyJones · 22/02/2005 20:30

MrsD - are you still working, I can't remember if you deciced to leave. I like what your colleagues say Hi kristina, glad to hear you're doing okay

hewlettsdaughter · 22/02/2005 20:30

Commiserations on the sleeping KristinaM. Although my dd was quite a good sleeper in the beginning (compared to ds anyway), she still wakes in the night. It's knackering isn't it.

MrsDoolittle · 22/02/2005 20:36

As I have said before Kristina, dd spends her time eating and sleeping - she went down at 6. But she doesn't crawl, just bounces around on her arms with her legs straight out beside her.
She does like dancing though, with me holding her. We dance all around the room, singing and swaying all the time, she loves it. After all, I imagine her thinking, why does one need to move oneself when one has a perfectly good adult to do it for you?

hewlettsdaughter · 22/02/2005 20:37

MrsD.

Though I can't quite visualise the bouncing on arms bit?

MrsDoolittle · 22/02/2005 20:39

Yes LJ, I am still working. Call it a cop-out if you like but when dd got better, I felt better suddenly. If, (fingers crossed) I was to get pregnant maybe later this year, then would time for the big re-think. At the moment I need to do as much as I can.

spagblog · 22/02/2005 20:39

I decided not to return to work after DS, the guilt crops up occassionally, but I love being at home with him...Mind you I also get guilt about the fact that I couldn't wait to get back to work after DD!
KristinaM, well done with still bfing. I am too, although DH is urging me to give it up. He thinks that my sex drive will come back as soon as I quit
Got my first period today in almost 20 months! Yuck, forgotten how nasty they are!
Oh well, the pcos will kick in again soon and I will stop getting them, fingers crossed!

MrsDoolittle · 22/02/2005 20:42

Imagine dd sitting with he legs wide apart, supporting herself with her arms on the floor. Then she bounces to and fro, moving..... maybe an inch? A kind of bum shuffle I guess, but not quite.

LucyJones · 22/02/2005 20:43

MrsD - that's not a cop out at all. Good luck with ttc later in the year. loved the bit about dancing around the room with dd! Ds is also still not crawling but he is shuffling a lot these days!! Spagbol - commisserations on the return of nasty af!!

hewlettsdaughter · 22/02/2005 20:45

Ah MrsD, I see! Sounds like she will be a bumshuffler!
Hi spagblog, by the way . Re talking, dd just says dadadadada.

KristinaM · 22/02/2005 20:48

Spagblog - LOL at your Dh - my Dh has been enjoying some peace and quiet for these last few months . It took him weeks to recover from those last 2 weeks of pregnancy when i was desperate not to be induced.
How long does it take for the urge to come back after stopping BF? My periods started again at Christmas when i cut down Bf during the night.
MrsD are you really thinking of no.2 yet?

MrsDoolittle · 22/02/2005 20:52

Dadadadad, that's what dd says too. Does that mean her first word will be Daddy? All the indications are it will be Sasha the dog. She gets so excited by her dd nearly jumps out of my arms 'dadadada'.

Hi Spagblog - I stopped bf ages ago and my af returned in August. I'd say my sex drive is pretty much back which is worrying dh slightly. He couldn't keep up with me before HD, Fennel, Kristina and Chuffed will testify. Remember all those days leading up to delivery? Cervical banging and what-have-you?
