No. I feel like I should (but the washing puts me off).

lunavix - have you ordered one of those breastfeeding necklaces? I quite like the Little Gems 'Summer' one but can't decide whether to buy one or not (could just get a lace and thread some chunky beads on it!)

lunavix · 18/02/2005 23:17

HD - I really want to (they are SO lovely) but I don't think I could justify it - while ds does like a cuddle, and does pull my hair, he's too much of a wriggler to sit still for long and I don't bf. We are planning on having another soon though....

YG - I'm excited for you, sad as it is! After today's poo explosion (easily the biggest he's ever had) I've reaffirmed my love for my tots after my initial shock (a - the poo washed out totally, b - the wrap didn't leak AT ALL - disposables have always leaked poo explosions! and c - they just look so cute drying!)

Fennel - Wiggles is terrible Australian kids show with 4 grown up men as singing dancing entertainers. Frightening

MrsD - I'm not sure about the thread (just jumped on the bandwagon!) but I do feel very proud of myself for coping with my tots/bumbles/kissaluvs this far!

DD has this annoying habit of tweaking my other nipple when feeding. Playing with beads would be preferable I think!
Reckon you don't actually need to bf to have one of the necklaces though - babies/toddlers would probably like to play with them anyway when sitting on your lap and at least you'd know they'd be safer than some other jewellery (as they're made for the purpose).

Fennel · 19/02/2005 11:50

lunavix - so Wiggles is like High 5? but with just men? (we put away our bedroom tv cos the dds were so keen to watch High 5 at 6.55am every morning, I quite liked it but it's so relentlessly cheerful).

yorkiegirl good luck with the nappies. remember it may take a few goes to get right - when we first tried disposables they kept leaking cos you put them on in a different way.

there was a thread on Chat a couple of days ago called Smug mummies for people to brag about their children or childrearing skills.

actually I find using real nappies creates no extra washing for me - it's DP's job at least he doesn't get bitten or tweaked while doing it too...

handlemecarefully · 19/02/2005 22:43

I've seen Wiggles too (isn't it on the Nick Jnr channel?). When I first saw it I tried to think if I could feasibly fancy any of the four fellas on it (I couldn't), and then I pondered whether any had wives or girlfriends (I doubt it). They didn't have bags of charisma, but dd and ds seem to like the programme.

LucyJones · 19/02/2005 22:47

Hi everyone. Ds seems to be a hungry little b**r atm. He's been waking up at 5am. I think we need to stuff him full of food in the day!! He has really started to move in the last few days, not crawl, but shuffle himself around to the toys he wants. I asked dh to lower his cot today and after much effing and blinding it appeared that dh had gashed a large chunk of the cot out which needs a trip to B&Q tomorrow apparently so ds is asleep in the travel cot and the real cot is in bits on the landing!!!

TracyK · 21/02/2005 08:32

the wiggles is the only tv prog that ds likes - he is mesmerised by it. I tape it and then play it when we come home from nursery at lunchtime and he falls asleep watching it.

Fennel · 21/02/2005 16:02

dd3 has woken at 5 the last couple of nights but I think she's cold, have you considered that lucyjones?

dd3 appears not to be interested in chocolate (can this be true in a child of mine?). I popped some white green-and-blacks chocolate in her mouth and she consistently took it out and "posted" it into the empty crisp packet I'd given her (bit of a junk food day for me!). she's posting mad at present. am sure her sisters liked chocolate at this age.

Chuffed · 21/02/2005 16:35

dd is going through the everything is yuk at the moment. The only meal she eats well is normally breakfast. Can't keep the floor clean, just about everything ends up on it and if we are lucky maybe the 4th or 5th pickup she actually puts it in her mouth.
dd does like a chocolate mint cornetto...

I've been lurking round the site, I haven't much time for this lately. HMC is busy 'out there' today.
Good to see Lunavix and Yorkiegirl on board with the reusable nappies You are beginning to sound like proper nappy bores now!! Once you have have your staple totsbots it's time to investigate all the beautiful WAHM produced nappies out there! Especially to show off when the weather gets warmer I know, I am really sad!

Fennel · 22/02/2005 11:13

WAHM produced nappies?

I'm guessing working-outside-the-home-mum produced. but it doesn't make sense?

MrsDoolittle · 22/02/2005 11:14

Work At Home Mum

handlemecarefully · 22/02/2005 12:06

Does anyone identify with this ? Ds is a little poorly today (nothing major just a very snotty cold, he had a temp yesterday but not today). It's making him a bit miserable, but it is "just a cold" so he is in Day Nursery. Feeling a bit uncomfortable that he is there, when he would probably dearly love to be with me having a cuddle.

However dh points out - that he was a bit miserable before we left for work this morning so he would still be miserable if at home with me, rather than at Nursery. Being with mum wouldn't suddenly make him radiant with happiness and gurgling in delight. Still having bit of a guilt trip though....

I suppose that if he were at home with me he would struggle to get one-to-one attention anyway, since I can't just ignore dd

MrsDoolittle · 22/02/2005 12:14

This is the kind of situation I can relate to HMC and I hate it!! It's hard when they are not quite right but you struggle with having to send them to nursery anyway.
Dh attitude is always "What can we do other than what we are doing?" The result is he just seems to carry on without the guilt thing that constantly racks me when dd seems 'off-colour'. I think blokes just think differently (probably because they have smaller brains, they don't have room for sympathy)
The truth is, he'll probably be all right being entertained at nursery. Maybe you can pick him up early?

MrsDoolittle · 22/02/2005 12:15

That is, your ds at nursery - not your dh!!

spagblog · 22/02/2005 12:25

Hello! Just re-introducing myself. Was previously Lowryn but bored myself silly with my unimaginitive name. LOL
How much are your babies talking? DH is always chuntering on about DS not talking as much as DD did at that age (yawn). Alexander doesn't make much sense. He does the dadadada, bubububa, yeahyeah etc but DH is convinced that DD was doing more.

handlemecarefully · 22/02/2005 12:43

Lol MrsD,
I like the men have smaller brains bit so they have less room for sympathy!

Yep my dh just doesn't seem to get it when I am agonising about ds
