Hi folks

Don't envy you Oooggs and Elkie. Met our neighbours 3 day old baby girl today and had no broody feelings at all! She was gorgeous though

MJ, how are you healing? Hope you are feeling lots better.xx

Elkie, I used to feel awful in the early evening too. Hope it passes soon.x

All ok here. So hot again today.

K seems to be on the mend although her temp started creeping back up at about 4.30.

Feel a bit cross with the docs. He was so dismissive. "Just look at her, she has a cold; it is just bad luck" Didn't check her chest or her ears.

Told me in no uncertain terms that the level of fever doesn't mean anything

Rant over!

elkiedee · 30/06/2008 17:40

Sorry you have such a crap sounding GP. Mine and D's is so lovely - dp took D last time but she was reassuring rather than dismissive, nothing too bad, what we were already doing was just right, but also in a way that recognised why we were anxious. Some people's stories on here make me so cross.

Sexonlegs · 30/06/2008 17:49

Some of the GP's at the practice are pleasant but he is a horror. My heart sank when I saw we were with him. He has always been quite tough and somewhat patronising. Half tempted to change surgeries.

Doobydoo · 30/06/2008 18:45

SOL your gp sounds like a twat.Fever in babies needs to be carefully monitored .How is the fever now?
Caz i really hope Molly is ok too.
Oh OOOGGS We are pregnant by proxy!Remember so well all the not so nice bits.
Hope you ok Elkie.
Best of luck with your move Lex,how exciting.I am sure your LO will be pleased with room eventually, tho might take a while.Excellent tale re hairclippers!made me laugh.
When ds1 was about 3 he went round for nearly a week with half a shaved head as he wouldn't let his dad do the other half
Milo can now walk the lenght of sitting room and back!I am so relieved as i was still worried about his hips.He is so chuffed.
Hi Dippy.
Octo..so sorry about your friends son.Can understand the weird feeling you must have.
Right,off to wrestle with M for bed!x

Oh Pisha, poor M and poor you. Hope you are ok.

Dooby, K bizarrely has had no fever today really which is good news. She isn't quite on form but 100 times better than yesterday. It was awful. Dh and I came to pick the girls up from my parents, and mum opened the door having got K up, and K didn't acknowledge us. Her whole face was right red and her body was burning hot. She just sat slumped on dh's lap. I have to say I was realy upset and dad said today that he was minutes from calling their doctor.

I have no idea how parents cope with major illness.

Great news re M's walking

mammyjo · 30/06/2008 19:59

Evening

Pisha, hope you are ok and M is feeling better xxx

SOL, glad K's temp is not so high. Late afternoon/evening is the time that temps will go up (naturally a time for body temp to be at its highest in anyone, lowest at around 4am - I hope you enjoyed that useless piece of info ).
I am doing ok, still a bit sore, bruised on the outside so dread to think what my insides look like! Much better though, feeling better in myself and eating chocolate! Yippee!!

Pisha · 30/06/2008 20:03

StealthPolarBear · 30/06/2008 20:11

Sexonlegs · 30/06/2008 20:22

Bloody hell Pisha. What a scare. Lots of hugs to Maia.

Hi SPB

Hi Oooggs Can I have a purple one please???

MJ, not useless info at all. I didn't know that.

Sat watching the tennis - fanbloodytastic!

Does anyone know how I go about moving GP's?

oooggs · 30/06/2008 20:24

dh has eaten all the purple ones (my favourite) twittering something about me not eating nuts

Sexonlegs · 30/06/2008 20:30

Bugger! ! I'll have to have a flake then

lexilex · 30/06/2008 20:49

sol, what gps you with? the one at eastleigh health centre are very good, you just walk into the surgery that you want to change too and ask for a new patient form for all of you, xxx

Sexonlegs · 30/06/2008 20:56

We are at Twyford surgery. My friend was the community midwife there when I was pg with B, so we went with them. Going to look in to the surgery at Boyatt Wood.

Doobydoo · 30/06/2008 20:57

bLOODY HELL pESHA HOPE YOU AND mAIA OK.mUST HAVE BEEN TERRIBLY FRIGHTENING!
Sol so pleased re temp coming down.It is so scary with little ones they can be up and down like yoyos.DS1 went to hosp twice with high temps,on the cusp of febrile convulsions. These are very comm on in babies up to approx age 5 or 6 years, but sometimes need intervention ie oxygen etc.I used to give calpol and nurofen to keep on top of it.Which is what they did in hosp.Have no idea re canging GP'S in Uk as I expect it has all changed now but I would ask not to see him and see a different one in that surgery if you like them.though I suppose there is always the danger that you get him at some poiny.I know you are perfectly within your rights to though. You need someone even a smidge more sympatico[which prob won't be hard!].
OOOGGS,I f you can't eat the nuts ones you must be allowed 2 chocs to replace every purple one. That is the pregnant Law[number 1]
Hurrah MJ,SO glad you on mend.
Thanks for the acknowledgements of M walking,it is amazing isn't it.When they do it!xx

lexilex · 30/06/2008 21:02

so sorry to hear bout lo pisha, hope she gets better soon,

mj, glad your feeling better, i dont know how long i can go without chocy, i have to some every day.

congrats on lo walking dooby, im sure o will be ok, the poor little might has so much change to deal with in the next 2 months, hes not used to it,

i hope the preg ladies are copig ok with the heat, and no worry about moaning, my dp said i didnt say i happy thing about my pregnancies until after i had them. then he would get fustrated cos i would tell people that i loved being pregnant, lol, funny how your few changes after the birth, but i do miss it now. xxx

elkiedee · 30/06/2008 21:24

Pesha, aarrrrgggh, your poor daughter. Hope Maia feels much better soon.

I have heard MJ's very useful piece of info before, but could have done with remembering it a couple of times with D lately (I didn't). His last temperature spike was at just that time of day/evening (about 5.30 - 7 pm).

SOL, my memory of changing GPs in the past was that I rang or visited and registered. I was actually going to change doctors to a new health centre nearer our house, but then when I realised I was pregnant with D I went to see my GP and decided I was comfortable with her. And she has certificates on the wall about extra training in obstetrics as well, and I think she does quite a lot of her general practice with mums and young children.

elkiedee · 30/06/2008 21:27

Oooggs, next time anyone gives me Quality Street I'll post you the purple ones (don't really like them). I'm not going to be able to eat peanuts or pistachios again this Christmas , and I forgot to buy some to make up last Christmas.

StealthPolarBear · 30/06/2008 21:42

You can eat pistachios can't you? Thought it was just peanuts? Sorry if I'm wrong. If so, you need extra chocolate to make up for it

elkiedee · 30/06/2008 22:03

I thought it was nuts generally. I was rather alarmed by being told no caffeine by the midwife, I've stopped drinking coffee and tea but not until about 3 weeks ago and I do have hot chocolate and choccy bars sometimes (depending on how I feel). Ah well, hopefully it will be ok.

martincat · 01/07/2008 00:54

Wow - this is weird - I just thought I'd have a peep to see how you are all doing and it takes me right back! I've changed my name cos my old ones bugged me but you might remember me as Greengirlforever? Actually, I always used to post really late at night when there was no one around to talk to!

I probably won't stick around cos' I'm so crap but think of me as someone who will pop her head round the door every (year!) now and then to say hi. Many congrats to all those preggars again - I still get broody but I've got a (symptom free!) womb prolapse and I'm even older than I was before!. My gorgeous little DD has only just started walking but the longer she takes over all these things the happier I am as I know she is the last.... She is trying to talk like mad tho!

My other news is that I'm hoping to become a midwife! Shall definitely come and tell you if I get anywhere with that! In the meantime, hi to Captain Dippy, Pesha, Bramshott, Sexonlegs, Elkiedee, Oogs, Doobydoo, Mammyjo and all you other lovely people! And who is SteathPolarBear???

Sexonlegs · 01/07/2008 07:50

Wow, hi GGF!!Lovely to hear your news You had another chat name since GGF didn't you, but am now wracking my brains as I can't remember. Good luck with the midwifery training.

SPB is Katy44.

Morning everyone
