So scared about possible leukemia?

My daughter is 13 months old. She is getting over a mild cold. Shes on day 6 of the cold and it’s mostly resolved. Just some leftover congestion and a mild occasional wet cough.

yesterday before bed, I noticed she had a couple of tiny non-blanching spots on her upper back, in the centre just below her neck. I freaked out because I know that is a common symptom of leukemia.

otherwise she’s fine. No fever and acting silly like usual. The shirt she wore yesterday wasn’t tight. It was actually really loose although did have a tag in that spot (her shirts rarely have tags).

I am so scared! Did your toddlers have a petechial rash that looks like this? This is making me so terrified I can’t even enjoy
mothers day :(

If you are this anxious why wouldn’t you go to the Dr or A & E?

if the rash is the only symptom just monitor it.

There's lots of reasons kids have rashes, seems highly unlikely it's going to be leukemia. Sounds like a slight reaction to clothing tag is the most likely explanation, or any kind of slight skin dryness or allergy.

You have health anxiety don’t you? You need help with that.

You have posted many times about your health anxiety. It’s now transferring to panic about your child. Do your medical professionals know about this?

My kid has had every kind of spot going, certainly some that looked like that. They’ve never yet been leukaemia.

I hope your daughter is all better now but just to share my son had a small non blanching rash on either side of his neck last year when he was 2. They are associated with leukemia and meningitis which is obviously terrifying but they can also appear when theres a virus/infection. I took him to the doctors who confirmed the type of rash and gave us antibiotics for a suspected chest infection, these didn't sort the rash and he kept having high temperatures over a week later. Long story short we went to a&e and a blood test eventually showed he had a kidney infection that needed a different type of antibiotics.

That rash is gone now. She did pick up something heavy while pulling to stand the other day (and it looked like effort), and is also coughing due to a cold, so wonder if one of those things caused it.

You still need help for the health anxiety. Before your anxiety affects your child.
