Hi - anyone fancy making up a thread for babies born this month? My dd (child no 4 ) was born on 6th Jan - I have had a rough time so far with feeding (cracked nipples etc) but things have started to improve now (I think). if only I could get her to sleep at night....

hi all, i havent posted for a while (ued to be s13, but thought that was dull). Has anybody had a first birthday party yet, dds is on 31st and i cannot decide if we should do anything. Also dicovered last week that i am 8 weeks pg, anyone in a similar situation.

Dizzymama · 14/01/2006 19:49

Congratulations snic! Wow! I'd love another one too but am in the middle of a career crisis at the mo and need to get that sorted
We've just booked E's 1st birthday party (20th) have decided to have a pool party! I work at a school and they hire the trainer pool out so we have that for an hour and then one of the mobile classrooms for an hour after. We're just going to have snack food and all E's toys out for the other babies, wine and beer for Moms and Dads and party bags, quite small affair.

suss · 14/01/2006 21:01

congratulations snic - v enivous of your condition! Tried for No2 in Nov (IVF attempt) which failed and trying again in March or april - desperate for sibling for DB and feel at 36 time is passing, plus it took us 10 IVF attempts to have him. You are obviously feeling fine otherwise you would have known you were pg earlier! good luck. Pool party that's exotic, we are just going for a scrum and cake at home with plenty of champagne for the big kids! good luck with the birthdays everyone. Has anyone done one yet and survived?

katylou25 · 14/01/2006 22:29

Snap snic I'm also 8 weeks pregnant with no 2 wasa bit of a shock but amv excited about it now/ For Harrys birthday next weekend we're just having open house on the sunday afternoon with harrys toys out for all the kids, drinks and food - has gone a bit out of control though - am gonna end up with at least 12 kidsin my little house hmmm never mind - can't even calm my nerves with a vat of wine either!!! Am going to do cake and party bags and stuff so have some elements of a kids party.

tinytotmummy · 14/01/2006 23:03

Congrats to snic and KatyLou. I was just reminiscing now that DD is 1, that this time last year I had a 14m old and a newborn! At the time, my DS seemed so grown up, but when I look at DD now at 12m, she still seems like a baby to me. I can't imagine having another one so close now - I must have been barmy!!
DD had her first haircut this week - got a certificate and everything!! I was very embarrassed when I took her in, as I realised how scruffy her hair looked! Much better now though.
Shelley, sorry for the delay - Viscious circle!what happens if you don't let her sleep so much during the day? Does she get terribly grumpy?

shelley85 · 16/01/2006 01:28

its near impossible to keep her awake she is very stubborn and if she wants to sleep then nothings gonna stop her! hasn't been too bad the last few days shes been going to bed about 11/12 which isn't great but an improvement to what they were! hopefully its just a phase!!!

LynnC · 17/01/2006 10:27

Congratulations snic and katylou.

DD started walking on Friday and getting more confident each day. Shes still a bit unsure and still likes to hold our hand but can walk on her own from the couch to the end of the livingroom. So cute but strange when one minute she is sitting playing then next she is at my back clinging on to me.

Luckie · 22/01/2006 20:30

Haven't posted on here for ages! DS is 1 tomorrow and we've just noticed his first tooth tonight - thankfully he got it without too much hassle (fingers crossed for the rest).
Has anyone got any advice on the quantity of milk he should be having now? He has 7oz bottle three times a day, although he often leaves an ounce or two.
Many congrats snic and katylou

papaya · 22/01/2006 22:51

Hi everyone, May i gate crash???? My DD is one today I just can't believe i would feel like this on her 1st b'day...where has this year gone??? Anyone else feel surprisingly sad at there DD's 1st b'day? I hope this next year doesnt go as quick.......

shelley85 · 23/01/2006 01:09

hi papaya i know what you mean, it feels like their not your baby any more, my dd started walking last week and where as before she would only do it holing my hand she now pushes me away

katylou25 · 24/01/2006 11:35

I know was DS's birthday on Sun and I just wanted to cry - we had a big party for him which he loved but I was miserable - can't believe hes one already. Hes cutting his 4 molars all at once and has been awake three or four times a night for the past week witht hem - hopefully the end is in sight they're almost all completely through the gum. He just seems to get them all at the same time rather than 1 on its own. He stood up on his own on Sat for the first time was walking with his pusha long toy thing and just let go and clapped his hands me and DH were shocked but so excited and he looked so pleased with himself - bless!

papaya · 25/01/2006 10:58

pleased i am not the only one.... DD is also walking and pushes my hands away, I bought her 1st proper shoes on tuesday, everything is happening at once, all of a sudden she is a little girl!!! She is also cutting her molars (3 at once)Katylou so i know how you feel....bless her she constanly points to her Anbesol in the kitchen!!

snic · 26/01/2006 20:34

hi all, hope everyone is well. I got dds date for mmr this week. definatley having it done but it doesnt stop you worrying does it. any thoughts?

katylou25 · 27/01/2006 11:16

I know snic I've just had ds's through for Thursday ... Am also def going to have it done. My worries are about the fact that it quite often knocks them for 6 after and DS just seems to be getting one thing after another at the moment as it is. Not worried at all about the links with autism etc as studied it as part of my degree, and then worked with pre-schoolers with autism, and fairly conclusive that any possible link would only be where you have the genetic tendencies anyway and it is sort of kick-started by the MMR if you see what I mean, and would be done by something else if not MMR.

Just seems a lot to inject them with three illnesses in one go poor little mites! Hope it goes Ok for you and your little one!

tinytotmummy · 27/01/2006 23:19

I have put off having DS MMR done for a long time, and now feel finally ready to take the plunge. Your post is reassuring katylou, thankyou. So, I'm having DS and DD both done on Monday!! Wish me luck...

katylou25 · 28/01/2006 12:55

Glad I could help TTM! And Good Luck!

snic · 03/02/2006 14:21

just wondering how it went with mmr jabs. had to put ours off for a couple of weeks. were the lo's ok afterwards

papaya · 03/02/2006 23:15

I am also watching and wondering about how your mmr jabs went......hope all your lo's are ok

katylou25 · 04/02/2006 17:40

Well DS had his on Thurs - was fine only cried for 30 secs which was a relief! He has been very sleepy and quite grumpy since but hasn't had any actual reaction as such. Mind you was warned you get various reactions (rashes, high temp etc) at 2 or 3 weeks after, so not looking forward to the weeks ahead!!!

Dizzymama · 05/02/2006 11:44

Hi all, I'm beginning to become a bit worried, so far I haven't had any word of a date for E's 1st year check or her jabs. We've recently changed doctors, do you think we could have got lost in the system? Has everyone else had their 1st year checks?

katylou25 · 05/02/2006 14:28

Don't get 1st year checks where I am just the MMR (wales) - know that can be given anytime between 12 and 18 months depends on how up to date local trust is! - Have next check up at 18 months when they check walking, speech development etc. Could be diff where you are tho!

LynnC · 06/02/2006 10:28

Katylou25, glad to hear things went well with mmr and hopefully any reaction in next couple of weeks wont be as bad as anticipated. Keep us posted on how things go.

I havent heard anything yet either for a checkup but didnt realise dd was due one think next one for us is 18months (apart from mmr which still waiting to hear) I'm in Scotland so maybe different wherever you are dizzymama. If your worried I would just give docs a call and put your mind at ease.

Dizzymama · 06/02/2006 20:13

Thanks Lynn, HV rang me today whilst I was at work, but at least I know we've not been forgotten!
Reactions to the jab sound a bit scary, I was lucky as E had no reaction to her initial jabs really. The thought that things can happen 2 / 3 weeks after is not inviting - ho hum, does this mean I have sleepless nights again?!

Pagan · 13/02/2006 13:46

Hello all - not been in for a while. DS is comin gon in leaps and bounds! Well more like bum shuffling tbh. Never crawled and hates being on his tum. No date for MMR yet though, got that to look forward to.

suss · 17/02/2006 14:01

one year checks I am still waiting to hear about DB's 8 month check! I think everything in London is completely overloaded - I can't even make an appointment for DB's MMR as there are no Nurse appointments at my surgery for atleast a week. Its rubbish, my sister in law has just had a baby and is having real problems breastfeeding and the midwife doesn't seem to be that concerned, even though the baby has lost a lot of weight. It makes me cross - all this breast is best, but then no support. Sorry just had to have a little rant. Glad to hear everyone is moving on (literally!) DB is on the verge of walking, he is standing and taking steps inbetween furniture - so let the havoc commence!
