new thread for Merry...

My DD still doesn't like going on her tummy, as this rate, she will never roll!

Her teething is awful at the mo so she is a grumpy little tinker at the moment and drooling for England. Doesn't seem to be taking much milk - she only really drinks 24oz per day. Must be costing you a fortune Glam with your LO drinking that much!!

turtle23 · 23/06/2008 11:12

Oh my god this is amazing....just fed LO and it didn't feel like someone was pouring hot broken glass under my skin and jabbing me with knives in my armpits. Resorted to buying medicine to start with and am going begging at the surgery in a bit.

fitnfortyone · 23/06/2008 11:24

yay turtle, hope this starts the ball rolling and you get a great big snowball effect!

Glad your not suffering so much turtle.
Yes, MMH, he is proving to be an expensive boy, but not as expensive as what this woman is doing on this mindboggling thread.

MissingMyHeels · 23/06/2008 11:48

That thread is crazy!

wearehipsandmakers · 23/06/2008 12:00

omg mb-death by norkage! DD has a soft spot for my armpit; not something I ever thought I'd say. I think it's about minimising stimulation when they're over tired. DS used to go to sleep if you put a hand over his eyes. Doesn't work now. sadly.
I too am doing frantic amounts of housework- as displacement activity mainly- I should be packing and I don't know where to start. Therefore the house is (by my standards) clean and tidy and I have even baked biscuits. The 5 o'clock starts have something to do with it- I daren't stop in case I collapse and it's not even lunchtime. I always feel like s**t when I stop to relax.
Glad you're feeling better turtle- but how ridiculous that you had to buy your own medicine. If healthcare professionals are serious about breastfeeding they should be making every effort to facilitate it.

LookingForwardToSummer · 23/06/2008 14:38

MFKAG - that thread is bonkers!
Glad you are feeling better turtle.

My duct has unblocked thank goodness but now have tummy upset to go with post migraine feebleness and headache. I'm wondering if my hormones have suddenly gone crazy or something. Quite fed up!

modsaluk · 23/06/2008 20:59

Good evening everyone, Harry has taken ok to be cutting his bottles down, he is now having 7 oz but having them still between 3 -4 hours. He is having on average 40 Oz a day.

turtle23 · 23/06/2008 21:22

Has anyone else's LO decided that they know better than you where theywant to sleep in their cot? No matter what I do Pascal goes to the top left corner of his cot and presses his head up against the bars, sticks his hand out the side. I worry about him, sometimes.

timmyinatizzy · 23/06/2008 22:00

Yes Turtle, Luke decided a couple of weeks ago that he liked to head butt the end of the cot. This is of course after he has rolled from back to front, then goes commando style from one end of the cot to other .

monthlymayhem · 23/06/2008 22:52

Thanks for all the support and suggestions! The last couple of days have been slightly better on the nap front, or at least no repeat of Saturday's all day screamathon.

Glam - like the idea of suffocating norks, will try that tomorrow if all else fails

LFTS and Turtle - glad to hear you're feeling a little better

It's amazing how different all of our babies are in terms of size despite their close age. My LO is just going into his 0-3 month clothes! He's still only 10lb 12, although was teeny to start with.

Also tried him in a bumbo seat today, and think he likes it. He's such a nosey parker that he likes to be able to see everything going on, so the bumbo gives him a good view.

fitnfortyone · 23/06/2008 23:21

Timmy, you really let your LO go commando in the cot? I think nappy on is safer

lol at fn41 and the norks and armpit smothering comforting.

gg is gurgling and good, ds1 is a joy, weather is good. so am trying to see gp myself to get manky sinuses and manky joints treated. feel wound up already, it is so hard to get an apt at my surgery, then to talk to doc while 2 kids need you. also have dreaded smear test booked while ds1 in school tomorrow am, and next week have to baby sit a mates 2 older kids while she gets her test done: 4 kids at once. i'm frightened!

am loving my new Wii, have a cute game called eledees on it. and my fitness age has been 76 and 74 (!) the last two days. can only get better, right? sigh

wearehipsandmakers · 24/06/2008 09:14

Yikes,I have a blind play date this afternoon. DH does the nursery run with DS and has arranged it with the mother of DS's best friend. DS is besides himself with excitement, I am besides myself with terror. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea but now... I am beyond useless in social situations. I should be grateful I know, DS woke up this morning in the grumpiest mood imaginable- he wasn't even bothering to whinge in complete words just a noise. Mainly because he didn't get to sleep till 9 o'clock last night- DH went in at 8.30 to find him sitting up in bed with a big handful of his excema cream in each hand saying 'I'm a little bit sticky'. Grrrrr

timmyinatizzy · 24/06/2008 10:40

Oops not that commando

MamaFormerlyKnownAsGlam · 24/06/2008 13:31

Talking about commando DS has discovered his inner SAS element. I posted yesterday that he got stuck on one arm after a roll from his back onto his tummy. Well, not any more. He can now roll over and over and over, extremely rapidly. It is a nightmare and I've resorted to putting the spare duvet down on the hard wooden floor in the tiny living room otherwise there'll be a lot of thwacked heads. He's nearly too heavy for his bouncy chair (it's started to creak alarmingly ) but I can't put him unrestrained anywhere anymore as he will be off. He is currently next to me on the bed trying on a nifty SAS disguise of yellow muslin over face (I'm keeping a very close eye on him, don't worry). The other thing I need to do is to lower his cot mattress. I woke this morning to find him peering at me , practically on his hands and knees, with his head and shoulders well above the cot bars. Would have been more amusing had it not been 5.30am.

I'm hoping that he will like the tennis as I'm very pleased that I'm on mat leave over Wimbledon. You would not believe how crap I am at actually playing tennis but I love watching it. Ever since the days of Ivan Lendl (swoon) anyone remember him?

DD is on a school trip today, a river cruise to Greenwich and back .They're currently studying the river Thames. Last weeek, it was an Ancient Egyptian workshop at the British Museum and the week before it was a space film at the Imax. Each trip costs me a max of £2.50. It's definitely an advantage going to a school which is the only one the Council has to fund. (City of London). The school is fab. Especially compared to the other schools round here.

Right, should really go and interact with Action Man here.

Hope everyone is doing well.

MamaFormerlyKnownAsGlam · 24/06/2008 13:38

Good grief, my Ivan Lendl thing was over 20 years ago

merryberry · 24/06/2008 13:39

you mean ivan lendl and his fab balls (control?)

merryberry · 24/06/2008 13:39

ha! i'll see your cut profile and raise you a package and chunky thighs

MamaFormerlyKnownAsGlam · 24/06/2008 13:40

The very same MB! But as you are a married woman now I do not think it appropriate for you to be thinking about a young Czech man's ball(s) control

MamaFormerlyKnownAsGlam · 24/06/2008 13:43

No, I'll raise the package, thank you! Mind you he's a lot older now, but then again I'm no longer in a school uniform (well, only on sat nights) That was a joke. I do not do naughty schoolgirl. At a push I'll do slatternly scullery maid, but that's because I have a point of reference for that.

merryberry · 24/06/2008 13:44

dh won't mind i'm sure, we can set up a net over the marital bed, buy him a headband and re-enact my intemperate youth to the benefit of the marriage, surely

you gay (in the old sense of the word!) divorcee you

MamaFormerlyKnownAsGlam · 24/06/2008 13:47

Oh MB, how prescient of you. I indeed had a gay phase, sometime between Ivan Lendl and meeting exdh. . Was a lot of fun . Those late eighties/early ninteies were wild oop north.

MamaFormerlyKnownAsGlam · 24/06/2008 13:50

don't think I meant prescient. my brain is melting.

MamaFormerlyKnownAsGlam · 24/06/2008 13:53

Promise not to take over this thread anymore but what is it like typing DH? It loks great from this persepctive.
