Abdominal separation at 14 months pp

Hi all,

I have a 14 month old and although I am back to pre-pregnancy weight, my abdominal muscles still haven’t closed up completely.

There is about a 1-2 finger width between them- I actively still do my pelvic floor exercises but in all honesty I don’t work out regularly (I have no time!)

Anyone else have the same issue? Is it normal or tmshoukd I seek advice from a physio perhaps?

Thank you ☺️

My experience is if it doesn’t fix itself within 8 weeks it won’t. Sorry OP. You probably need to try to exercise and see if it helps

Pelvic tilts, heel slides, planks etc help, plus belly breathing exercises. You have to avoid crunches and sit ups- sorry if you already know this! I didn’t realise this because I did them fine after my first.

I’ve been doing ten minutes a few times a week of these exercises for a month or two, and my separation is now about 1cm. Which apparently doesn’t count as a separation, but it’s still not the same as it was pre pregnancy. I’m a similar amount of time as you post partum. I think I probably need to do more, but it has helped
