Nappy Rash - my baby is terrified of me !

I need advice or a handhold or something.

Teething induced poonami central here. 5 huge runny poops yesterday. 6 today. Resulting in the worst nappy rash my 10 month girl had had. No broken skin or sores, but so so red and inflamed.

Every nappy change today she has screamed with fear and pain. Literally looking at me as if she doesn't trust me and thinking I'm causing her this pain.

I am heartbroken and broken.

I've smothered her little bumbum in cream for the night and fitted her nappy much looser than needed. Also put pj's on her which are too big so nice and loose. I'll deal with potential poo all over the cot in the morning.

What else can I do to help my baby? X

Don’t use baby wipes to clean her. I always used baby lotion and cotton wool or warm water and a soft flannel.

Is she crawling? If you can keep her in one place and give her as much nappy off time as possible with towels, plastic sheet underneath?
also agree no wipes, just water and make sure she is totally dry before you put on barrier cream.

I found Bepanthen to be the best. Keep her nappy off as much as possible and wipe with warm water and a fannel or cotton wool.

She crawls at the speed of light. I've considered an hour or so in her play pen (room for me too) with her waterproof play mat. Nappy off and just peel everywhere it's fine! Perhaps I'll do this tomorrow.

Bepathen is what I've put on her tonight x

Update - bepanthen is the holy water of ointments!!! At least 50% less sore this morning. No upset on nappy change.

Water and cotton wool was great. More cream and loose nappies today! X
