Is there anything anyone has loved? Apart from the usual lovely handcream?
I have a few things for baby, but what about post natal mum?
All ideas gratefully received 😀

I just wanted a hot soak so anything bath related was a massive win for me
And comfy pjs, bigger the better ☺️

Chocolate for me! I craved it both times , probably hormones and needing the energy for breastfeeding.

Ready to grab snacks too, maybe a nice snack basket that she can have near her when she's breastfeeding.

I'm the mil! So trying to avoid massive pyjamas. Although massive pyjamas are great, and massive pants!
I craved digestives with cheese and coleslaw when breastfeeding. I'm sure chocolate would be good, maybe a big chocolate santa.

My sister got my a No 7 skin care set. Day cream, night cream, serum etc ... And it was probably the best gift I received. My skin was awful after having a baby and it was lovely to have someone nice just for me. Bio oil, nice bath salts, nice blanket etc... we're also lovely gifts.

I would have loved an indulgent shower gel - i wasn't allowed a bath for a few weeks and then never felt i had time for one.

Gower cottage Brownies. A lovely fruit cake. Goes cheese and nice bread. A nice thermal mug.

A hot cup of tea...(if only that could be wrapped!) I agree with the comfy and cosy suggestions, some nice slippers? A cosy dressing gown? The sanctuary do a new mum mini pamper set which is cute. Also, maybe a little something for the brain, a kindle voucher for those long nights up with the baby?

I have a Loccitane set for dil for Christmas so can give that early...your hands get so sore with constant washing don't they.
(She will get a Christmas present too!)
Maybe glossy magazines? And a Christmas tv guide?

Some very nice biscuits, and a thoroughly leak-proof and effective insulated mug.

eggandonion · 14/12/2024 12:41

I'm so old our telly didn't have a remote. I would be trapped under a baby who woke at the slightest disturbance, watching things I didn't want to see.
A spill proof insulated mug would be good!

I really found New Mum cards from Way Too Honest to be a great gift. My sister gave them to me and they were really funny and kind. It made me feel seen and less alone when I was struggling. I used them at my friends baby shower recently and they went down a treat,

My MIL got me some epsom salts for the bath which was amazing and highly recommend ( i had a episiotomy so really took the pain away) as well as a pandora charm of a pink dummy.

eggandonion · 03/09/2025 23:28

Op baby is nearly 9 months old! Epsom salts would have helped me in the bath many years ago . Great idea.

I took myself for a manicure at about 2 weeks PP and honestly just 45 minutes out of the house with my thoughts was a godsend and really helped me with the "leaving baby with dad" mindset. Maybe not ideal for everyone but it made me feel good and helped me have a little breather.
