ah sparkly new thread.. i spotted this on my friends face book and had to share it:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers are given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

  1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
  2. Mostly to clean the house.
  3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

  1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
  2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
  3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

  1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
  2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

  1. We're related.
  2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

  1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
  2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
  3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

  1. His last name.
  2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
  3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

  1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
  2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
  3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's the boss at your house?

  1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
  2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
  3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

  1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
  2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
  3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's
  4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
  1. Mothers don't do spare time.
  2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

  1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
  2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

  1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
  2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did t and not me.
  3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

just thought it was funny!

afternoon all

I'm afraid I haven't caught up - I hope everyone is well

I am at work today, DS is back at nursery. He is refusing to eat (and if he does it promptly comes back out) but is otherwise well in himself. I don't really want to be at work, would rather be looking after him, but I took 5 days off sick last month (+ bank holidays) and after commuting costs, nursery and dog walking costs it actually left me in negative equity so I can't really take any more time off this month. Freelancing sucks sometimes.

I have sent an email today to the head of the dept asking him for a permy job. No response as yet.

My boss has just sent me home as I am coughing up a lung.

What are people buying their DC's for their 1st birthday? I fear I may have been a little extravagant. I can't seem to help myself.

I am going to buy myself a rabbit at the weekend, that should help cheer me up

andiem · 22/04/2008 13:55

ria hope your back is better

have just got new plants from the garden centre to put in garden all tidy

waiting for lo to go to sleep so I can go out in the garden

andiem · 22/04/2008 13:59

hi fury cross posted not sure what we are getting for birthday as already have loft full of toys
will see what is in the shops but probably a paddling pool as we need a new one already have sandpit etc

Sputnik · 22/04/2008 14:04

That really sucks Fury.
SO how many days does that make it that you are actually earning? must be very few.
Hope your DS recovers properly soon. And enjoy your rabbit (I'm assuming not the furry kind)

Right, I'm off out, sea you later.

HellHathNoFury · 22/04/2008 14:13

hmm interesting question sputnik - I broke it down and out of every 4 weeks (I get paid in 4 week cycles), that is 20 days - about 6/7 days is tax, 4 days is nursery fees, 1.5 days to pay for the dog walker, 1 day management company fees, and 4 days is parking and rail card.

They are the only costs I include as if I didn't have a job, I wouldn't need to pay for any of that stuff.

so all up after working 20 days I only earn money on about 4 days worth of work.

It will be worse if I went permy as I'd earn less - BUT I would get holiday and sick pay and if the last 4 months are any indication I'd need them!

HellHathNoFury · 22/04/2008 14:14

what's best then - the Wave, Thruster or Platinum?

No, not the furry kind

lackaDAISYcal · 22/04/2008 14:35

fury....I thought you meant the furry kind.

I hope DS picks up soon; it's good that your nursery will take him though. When DS was little it was at least 48 hours after last vomit/runny nappy.

HellHathNoFury · 22/04/2008 14:42

I do like the furry kind but my dog would scare the poor little blighter half to death. I am opting for the slightly lower maintenacne kind!

Plus DH bought me some Ann Summers vouchers and I need to spend them!

andiem · 22/04/2008 14:42

fury I thought you meant the furry kind too

HellHathNoFury · 22/04/2008 14:48

oops sorry

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/04/2008 17:53

Hi all. I see talk of non-furry rabbits killed the conversation for the afternoon

Just found the freezer door ajar when I got in from work. I had a look through and a few things at the front were defrosted, or partly defrosted. Thankfully the blooming thing is so stuffed full it seems to have largely kept itself mostly frozen by the sheer mass of stuff and lack of space for air to circulate. Anyway, some little sausages and chunks of salmon that were reserved for the jamlet were defrosted but still cold, so I put one sausage and one piece of fish in the fridge for tomorrow and binned the rest; some choc ices were total mush so they went; one beef steak was half defrosted so that's come out to add to tonight's chilli; one pack of salmon was defrosted so that's in the fridge for me to eat tomorrow; some sweetcorn, garlic bread, blackberries and pancakes were partly defrosted but I decided they weren't so likely to cause a problem so have kept them and made a mental note to use them sooner than later. Does that all seem reasonable? I hate wasting food, but don't want to poison us, especially the jamlet.

andiem · 22/04/2008 18:02

seems reasonable to me jammy

ria/fairy what was the name of the plate and cutlery you have to help litllies feed themselves would like to get some?

am feeling very pleased as garden all tidy and dead things all replaced dh just needs to do the lawn now

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/04/2008 18:20

Am of tidy garden Andiem. Ours is a right mess. If it's dry tomorrow I'll take the jamlet out there and try to do some work though.

andiem · 22/04/2008 18:42

was lovely today jammy have been in t shirt all day almost got my birkenstocks out too

lackaDAISYcal · 22/04/2008 18:46

the weather picked up a bit here too, and it's lovely and warm out there now. DD and I spent a bit of time in the garden, she walked the lenght of our drive holding my hands (about 2.5 car lenghts).

had another teatime from hell here. DS took 45 minutes to eat a meal that took 20 to cook . He's been as disagreeable as he was last week, but thankfully DH is here and witnessing it too as I sometimes think he thinks I make it up. I just don't have the bloody energy to deal with him any more.

DH has been at home since last Thursday, and I've only just started to get fed up with him.......now that's what I call progress

HellHathNoFury · 22/04/2008 19:04

well not having a good day here

Got a phone call from the nursery - DS had an accident and face planted while trying to learn to skateboard (yep, it's hi new in thing) and wrecked his upper gums. Cue lots of blood and now there are 4 teeth where this morning there were 2.

He looks a right mess. I hope it heals ok.

HellHathNoFury · 22/04/2008 19:05

and I promise I won't mention rabbits again

lackaDAISYcal · 22/04/2008 19:13

fury, is it worth taking him to the dentist to get him checked out?

skateboards????? wtf?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/04/2008 19:30

ouch! fury. Poor little soul
The jamlet still hasn't mastered crawling, let alone skateboarding. But nursery say she made a really good effort today, so maybe soon?

HellHathNoFury · 22/04/2008 19:36

oh he's not meant to be skateboarding - but he likes climbing and standing on things with wheels.
He's pretty good at walking now too and will go round most of the house and then eventually face plant somewhere.

Daisy we might take him to the GP/dentist - thought we'd see how it looked tomorrow. Now there is less blood it looks pretty bad but I don't think it's as bad as it looks, as it doesn't seem to upset him too much (except he won't eat).

I just want a normal life.....

HellHathNoFury · 22/04/2008 19:38

oh and Jammy I wouldn't worry about the crawling - we have a friend who's DC is just over a year old and only just starting to get the hang. I think development is all just swings and roundabouts. The jamlet probably has more sense (and hopefully cause you less grief)!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/04/2008 19:44

I'm not too worried (most of the time), and do appreciate that it probably makes my life somewhat easier. But I really feel for her when she's trying so hard and either not getting anywhere at all or ends up going backwards. She then gets so frustrated. She is getting about fairly well by rolling and can spin herself round on the spot on her tummy pretty niftily now but just hasn't quite got forward motion sussed yet.

foxythesnowfox · 22/04/2008 20:18

Fury! WTF??? Skateboard?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/04/2008 20:19

Hi Foxy

foxythesnowfox · 22/04/2008 20:33
