ah sparkly new thread.. i spotted this on my friends face book and had to share it:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers are given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

  1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
  2. Mostly to clean the house.
  3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

  1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
  2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
  3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

  1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
  2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

  1. We're related.
  2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

  1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
  2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
  3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

  1. His last name.
  2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
  3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

  1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
  2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
  3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's the boss at your house?

  1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
  2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
  3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

  1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
  2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
  3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's
  4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
  1. Mothers don't do spare time.
  2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

  1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
  2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

  1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
  2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did t and not me.
  3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

just thought it was funny!

morning. I talked to my doula (possibly) this morning, and am seeing her tomorrow. I'm quite excited about it. she has given me the name of the consultant I should ask for, whom she knows well. She also suggested I transfer to the other hospital as they have water birth facitities there.

Natty, I'd forgotten that you were VBACing. I must look for your birth story on the old threads

we were planning on getting some gardening done as well andie, but it looks like rain any minute. I'm not even risking the washing.

DH has taken DD out in the buggy for a walk to the shops and I'm supposed to be doing housework. I think DHs patience with me is wearing thin!

I'll MN while I finish my tea and then get cracked on

kaniluja · 22/04/2008 10:20

Glad to hear everyone bright and breezy. Am desperate to get out in the garden but it either rains or I find something more pressing

Well eventually DS settled in 15 mins at bedtime and only woke once in night (thank god!) Seemed slightly more smiley today too, hope that once this is cracked will improve his grumpiness!

Bumper always had a routine here even though having sleep problems waking in night, have always had no problems actually going to bed. Its the same routine for DD too (and shes 5) Tea at 4, play/watch cbeebies/dvd until 5.45, upstairs kids play while i get bath and bedrooms ready. Then bath, dressed, into sleeping bag and milk for DS. Usually he either falls asleep during milk or straight after and I scope him up put him in bed by 6.30-6.45 he is not falling asleep now, so am reading a book for him then straight into cot (the plan is awake). DD out bath gets herself brushed teeth and hair into pjs and then if she has been good had 1-3 stories and in bed by 7.

DS has daytime nap routine too 1 bigger in morning and 1 power nap in afternoon, its just that he relies on me to get him to sleep......but no more

thomas keeps biting ellen please help he wont stop!

lackaDAISYcal · 22/04/2008 10:43

i think you need to adjust the mouse pad sensitivity andie

good for you on the cloth Nattty. I might try some of those nappies then.......just so I can advise people, you understand!

Tea is long finished and I'm still here, but have been catching up with the big sticky thread at the minute. Good for MN getting involved in this. i hope the government take notice and do something about it!

daisy I must post on that thread as have had 3 mcs and tbh very poor service form the nhs

andiem · 22/04/2008 10:57

can't spell this morning either tis a laptop and not used to using one

lackaDAISYcal · 22/04/2008 11:02

laptop keyboards are smaller andie, so the keys aren't where you expect them to be....happens to me when I switch from one to the other!

please post andie. It is such a worthwhile issue and affects so many women. I'm sorry about your m/cs . It seems that I'm one of the lucky ones , having had mine here in Leeds as the standard of care here seems to be streets ahead of most other EPUs.

lackaDAISYcal · 22/04/2008 11:03

right, I'm really not here anymore......

catch you all later, have good days and enjoy your gardening in the sunshine andie

Riallyclean · 22/04/2008 11:17

morning all, bye daisy.

I have upset something in my back and could only just manage putting my trousers on this morning. We are going for a slow, limpy walk to nursery to see if it will loosen up. I'd better see if I can manage my socks. Arse.

Nice weather though, might weed my newly boarded lavender bed and make a list of what else I'm planting in it. (once I'm knelt down I can stay there til I've finished and then get the fire brigade)
