ah sparkly new thread.. i spotted this on my friends face book and had to share it:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers are given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

  1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
  2. Mostly to clean the house.
  3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

  1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
  2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
  3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

  1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
  2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

  1. We're related.
  2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

  1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
  2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
  3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

  1. His last name.
  2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
  3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

  1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
  2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
  3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's the boss at your house?

  1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
  2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
  3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

  1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
  2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
  3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's
  4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
  1. Mothers don't do spare time.
  2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

  1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
  2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

  1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
  2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did t and not me.
  3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

just thought it was funny!

Daisy - hope things sort themselves out...you poor thing........I've also had that conversation.

Think Natty had a May baby? My DD is 2nd June - as is Izzy's .....seems like such a long time ago......

DD turned over and crawled away at great speed whilst daddy was changing a particularly dirty bottom this morning ......

foxythesnowfox · 29/04/2008 13:48

Hullo, quiet on here today.

Anyone still here??

foxythesnowfox · 29/04/2008 13:50

I am boooooored today. I have done some housework.

Yep, that bored.

Sputnik · 29/04/2008 14:06

I just searched high and low for that thread, can't find it either.

Well, yesterday I had a dusty house. Today I have an only slightly less dusty house, 2 sick DCs (DD is crashed out on the floor), and a blocked duct, as the baby didn't want to eat yesterday.

lackaDAISYcal · 29/04/2008 14:07

I'm here.....saw the doctor this morning, so am back on prozac until baby is born then switch to sertraline for BFing again. Also referring me back to my lovely psychiatrist at the peri-natal unit. (lol I am a basket case!). I said i was du back at work on Monday, and he said good grief, you're in no fit state to work and has signed me off for a month, with at least another months after that, and said he'd be happy to sign me off as long as i feel i need it (so right up till maternity leave starts in the middle of August). not sure when to tell work I'm pregnant though. i know they are going to be mightily pissed off that I won't be in next week as they are expecting.

now I have to write a letter explaining i won't be in...or should I just post off the sick line with no covering letter?

Sputnik · 29/04/2008 14:08

Bored here too, but not that bored.
It's also cold.

Sputnik · 29/04/2008 14:11

I knew if I wrote the words "blocked duct" you would magically appear Daisy

foxythesnowfox · 29/04/2008 14:11

Hi Sputnik, whats up with the DCs? Sorry to hear they aren't well

Daisy, have you been stressing about work by any chance? You know, on top of your flying hospital visits, being PG, fighting with DH... on top of life with two small children, a DH who works away and a house to run.

I think, Daisy, you need a break first and foremost.

foxythesnowfox · 29/04/2008 14:14

Tricky one about when to tell work Daisy.

Part of me thinks that you have no need to tell them, it isn't any of their business yet is it? When do you have to tell them, 26 weeks?

But the other part says tell them and stop it hanging over you.

How would you feel if they let you go? I mean, offer you a 'redundancy' package?

Sputnik · 29/04/2008 14:19

In your place I would incline to telling them, but that's just me.

DC's have a cold, but DD also now has a fever and is not eating, and has ominously said her tummy hurts. Plus she's fallen asleep twice today.

foxythesnowfox · 29/04/2008 14:22

I'd err on the side of telling them, but that's because it would stress me out not.

foxythesnowfox · 29/04/2008 14:23

not telling them, I mean.

lackaDAISYcal · 29/04/2008 14:25

ha ha....found the bloody thing. It's all upside down and lots have dropped off the list, names have changed and there are some (andiem, izzybel) who aren't on it, so......

so where have tallulah and derlor and BZ disappeared to? and Ria's been v v quiet for a few days.

and foxy, I really need to get on with some housework!!!

lackaDAISYcal · 29/04/2008 14:33

lol sputnik...you know what i'll say......hot flannels, massage and if all else fails get your comb oout!

yes, i need a break......we are going away for the weekend in fact; probably a good time for us to have some "quality family time" and relax; to a caravan in County Durham, next to the river at Barnard Castle. It looks lovely.

i don't need to tell work until I'm 25 weeks, so not till July. I've not been there long enough (3 years in July) to get any sort of redundancy unfortunately. If i were to hand my notice in, would I qualify for maternity allowance? I tried finding out about it but it's bloody confusing. I don't even know if I'll get paid SSP (or even if I'm getting paid for the five weeks holiday I've just had)

foxythesnowfox · 29/04/2008 14:34

you'd get maternity pay again, wouldn't you?

lackaDAISYcal · 29/04/2008 14:49

if i get signed off sick and get paid SSP until the qualifying week (15 weeks before EDD) then I'll get SMP, but only at the lower rate, I think. It's all very confusing. Of course i've officially been back at work for five weeks, so i should get SSP. My work have no sick pay scheme to speak of (a few days at full pay, another few at half pay and then SSP)......gawd i feel like a right old pikey, but we really can't afford for me to just jack the job in.

i think I need to start a thread on employment issues and get some advice from flowerybeanbag.

foxythesnowfox · 29/04/2008 14:52

That seems like a good idea Daisy.

No, don't jack it in. Let them sack you, sue them, and cash in

foxythesnowfox · 29/04/2008 14:54

S'pose I'd better get off my arse and get swimming stuff sorted. Yawn.

Sputnik, are you sure is a cold and not just the dust? If you dust you create a cloud, it is far better to leave the dust be you know. Much healthier for the LOs.

And you can teach them to write their name in it. Its an educational tool too
