ah sparkly new thread.. i spotted this on my friends face book and had to share it:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers are given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

  1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
  2. Mostly to clean the house.
  3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

  1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
  2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
  3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

  1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
  2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

  1. We're related.
  2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

  1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
  2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
  3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

  1. His last name.
  2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
  3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

  1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
  2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
  3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's the boss at your house?

  1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
  2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
  3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

  1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
  2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
  3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's
  4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
  1. Mothers don't do spare time.
  2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

  1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
  2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

  1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
  2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did t and not me.
  3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

just thought it was funny!

NattyEcoWarriorPrincess · 25/04/2008 20:20

you've all buggered off... well i never.. its only 8pm.. on a friday night...

lackaDAISYcal · 25/04/2008 20:22

It's all bandaged up so she can't get at it trace, and I suppose it clears a bed!

the portage sounds good (I had a wee look at their website after your thread the other day); I hope Chloe gets a lot from it. good luck for her biopsy, but I'm at your GP re DS. The initial blood test costs £10 according to the stuff I've had from coeliac UK, but it isn't always conclusive in children so you need to get their IgA antibodies checked as well. Have you tried him on a gluten free diet to see if it helps? Certainly if Chloe comes back positive you should push for testing for DS as there is a hereditary link. You and DH should also get tested.

justbeme · 25/04/2008 20:22

Do you know the best milk to get ?(in my opinion)
its Cravendale - they sell it with really long dates on (about 2 weeks+ or so) and once opened, it keeps in the fridge for 7 days. I bulk buy and keep it in my utility fridge, so I very rarely run out. I used to always keep a carton of longlife in but that tastes yuk!!

God do I sound like an old woman or what!!

Sputnik · 25/04/2008 20:33

I'm here!

Trace if you are still about, that's really shocking you are being made to wait so long. Hope you can get seen sooner.

NattyEcoWarriorPrincess · 25/04/2008 21:03

i will only buy organic milk which doesnt keep long.
there are cow growth hormones in normal milk (including cravendale) YUK!

justbeme · 25/04/2008 22:11

Ok oh Warrior - lets see who is the greenest of us all!

I:
Use washable nappies and some wipes
Recycle: Paper/Cardboard/plastic/tin
Compost veg cuttings/tea bags/fruit
use reusuable shopping bags
Have a water meter and 7 water butts for the garden.
Grow some veg and fruit

Im sure there's more but my brains gone!!

All the above generally means we only have 1 black bin a week.

Anyone else? (no no mooncup here btw! - although I may do - but Daisys description of nearly pulling her innards out on the 1st go made me feel squeamish!)

Sputnik · 25/04/2008 22:14

I recycle baby wipes.
I've only ever bought about 10 packets, as you can wash them and reuse. There, I have confessed now.

justbeme · 25/04/2008 22:18

How Sputnik?? Do you put baby lotion on them once washed?

DKMA · 25/04/2008 22:31

hullo!

Just poping in before bed

Bloody hell daisy - what a fright you've all had!?
And Trace! Hope all is ok with that lump?

Hey Natty the eco warrior! Just to let you know (from good sources, a large animal vet friend and a dairy farmer friend) that organic milk is not what it's cracked up to be..............
Organic milk farmers don't use many of the chemicals, vaccines, wormers etc etc that regular farmers do in order to prevent diseases, insect infestations etc etc. However when the cows get sick (and many more of these cows do get sick) the vets then have to use twice as much medication to treat them back to health.
So if you were to ask a cow vet if they thought organic milk / meat was better - many would say no - they are more likely to have been treated with more meds than a non organic cow iykwim?
And if you ask a regular farmer what thier thoughts are about organic farmers - many think their standard of care for the amimals is poor.

Anyhow.....it's just a bit of food for thought from up here in the countryside

Sputnik · 25/04/2008 22:31

I have some solution that you just dilute. Think any babywash + maybe a bit of oil would work. Also just use water sometimes.

Lol!! - you're lucky then, I get them 3 times a day (not me personally you understand!!) Night xx

HellHathNoFury · 26/04/2008 16:54

hello all

DS is FINALLY on the mend even though he is still pooing water, he even ate a little bit today. He has been so ill poor little bugger, he is on so many medications and has lost heaps of weight.
Despite his illness though he is now a pretty competent walker, with/without shoes and has been wandering around the garden this afternoon unaided. Bless. It's very cute.

Well an old friend of mine invited herself over for the night for an impromptu BBQ so we have been flat out doing the garden, the spare room, shooping and I made dessert and 3 salads. I am pretty dead on my feet now.
Still it will be great to see her.

Daisy glad to hear DD is seemingly on the mend.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/04/2008 18:19

Just out from a day out with friends. I wasn't so well this morning. I'd had some food go down "the wrong way" last night and had been coughing ever since, and slightly out of breath the whole time, and my lung hurt. When I carried the jamlet upstairs I was so out of breath I had to sit down Anyway, we went to this wildlife park and I was out of breath just wandering round until I had a huge coughing fit and coughed up a pea. We'd had rice & peas last night and I must have inhaled a pea. No wonder I felt like something was blocking my lungs.

Jamlet had factor 50 on her forehead, cheeks, nose and ears this afternoon - looked a bit like a cricketer But better that then letting her burn.
