ah sparkly new thread.. i spotted this on my friends face book and had to share it:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers are given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

  1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
  2. Mostly to clean the house.
  3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

  1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
  2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
  3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

  1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
  2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

  1. We're related.
  2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

  1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
  2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
  3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

  1. His last name.
  2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
  3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

  1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
  2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
  3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's the boss at your house?

  1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
  2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
  3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

  1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
  2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
  3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's
  4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
  1. Mothers don't do spare time.
  2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

  1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
  2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

  1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
  2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did t and not me.
  3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

just thought it was funny!

HellHathNoFury · 23/04/2008 14:26

24th should be fine, with or without DH's!

On the website I posted earlier I think you can print out the 2-for-1 offer - if not let me know and I'll post one to you

HellHathNoFury · 23/04/2008 14:32

I found out that an ex of mine works here. Wasn't a problem but now he wants to 'talk' to me and stuff.

NattyEcoWarriorPrincess · 23/04/2008 14:34

HellHathNoFury · 23/04/2008 14:37

All you need to validate it is a train ticket (overland - not tube)

There must be something about Wednesdays.

Gloomy.

Today I am Eeyore.

Back later when the kids in bed...

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/04/2008 16:05

Poor old (just a turn of phrase you understand!) Ria. Hope you feel chirpier soon. I think there is something about Wednesdays - the previous weekend has been forgotten, but the next one hasn't really appeared on the horizon yet, IYKWIM, so it can feel rather isolated and bleak.

Sunshine here this afternoon is helping. We went to the park for the swings and the jamlet fell asleep on the way there. So I was forced to sit and endure enjoy 25 minutes sitting in the sun until she woke up. Then we went to the library and got some books and a nursery rhymes CD, which I may regret some day but will be fun until then.

Hi, just popping in v v briefly, have skimmed the thread and noticed that Andiem wanted the details of the bowl and cutlery set - it's here. Sorry, must ruch off again but hope everyone is well?

school on strike tomorrow so out for the day with some other mums and kids to wisley those of us who don't work have the kids of the ones who do for the day

Sputnik · 23/04/2008 17:14

Having a bit of a wobbly day here too. The baby woke up after sleeping 1/2 an hour and screamed for about an hour, until the paracetamol kicked in. Bloody teeth. Meanwhile DD was seriously bugging me to go outside and clean (is she really my daughter?), which I wouldn't mind but our garden is very child-hostile and I don't like her being outside on her own.

Meanwhile my house looks like an explosion in a small branch of the Early Learning Centre.

Things have calmed somewhat, and I've hit the chocolate.

I'm fond of Eyeore, btw.

Sputnik · 23/04/2008 17:16

Love your new name btw Natty!

RiaButterflew · 23/04/2008 17:25

I love Eeyore too - I have him on MY mug. (all comes back to the big bottom, fat and purple thing)

I am poisoning my children with burgers for tea, but I think we might walk to the library after to see if they have any obscure Tolkein for DS1. It will no doubt cost me a DVD rental too.

I am on a roll - I got DS1 a blue computer chair from the village charity shop for £5 today.

andiem · 23/04/2008 17:39

mine have had pizza ria so bad mother day here too

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/04/2008 17:45

andiem · 23/04/2008 18:03

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/04/2008 18:04

Oh bugger! She'll want feeding again tomorrow. Hadn't thought about that one!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/04/2008 18:06

Still, will be at home all morning (and afternoon too if my new buggy doesn't arrive by lunchtime) so plenty of time to sort something out.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/04/2008 18:08

Not getting rid of the P&T by the way, but have given in and conceded we need something that folds smaller for the car boot when we are going away with loads of stuff to pack.

andiem · 23/04/2008 18:20

wise move jammy I keep my maclaren in the car all the time

kaniluja · 23/04/2008 18:43

Fury, not sure if he still has reflux tbh as have not dared stop using it. The only sign of reflux is he can't take yoghurt, fromage frais and evaporated milk for some reason?

LOL at your description of your house Spuntnik sounds like mine most of the time. What I want to know is when am I meant to fit everything in?? Its beyond me it really is.

Give us the low down on your buggy when you've road tested it Jammy, am thinking along the same lines my silver cross takes up way too much room!

So anyone still on the health kick or has it gone out the window?

lackaDAISYcal · 23/04/2008 18:56

My house is.......tidy

but only cos DH is stopping me from being on MN all day

DCs in bed; DS since 5:30 for not eating his tea, then eating like a pig, and then for telling me (after I gave him his third and final warning) that he hates me and is going to kill me, painfully and then screaming at both DH and I and looking at us both with such venom . DD has been delightful.

Kani, can you try holding back with the gavison for a few bottles and see what happens? DS had reflux (not painful, but he projectile vomitted constantly) and it cleared up around the 9mo mark.

Seansgirlthesequel · 23/04/2008 18:57

Aaaahhh! and the lo sleeps only now his 5 year old big sis to get to go to sleep..............

Was bored of new name btw

Seansgirlthesequel · 23/04/2008 18:58

Thanks Daisy am thinking I might give it a go, have cut down to one satchet and seems ok

lackaDAISYcal · 23/04/2008 19:17

yay SG.....good to have "you" back.

Fingers crossed you have a restful night with DS!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/04/2008 19:19

Will do SG. I had it recommended by a friend from one of our groups with a 9mo. She got it when they wanted something smaller for a trip to New Zealand - only in the end they only got as far as Singapore as baby was massively vomiting and had to have 4 nights in hospital there and a few more days to recover before flying rather than the 1 night stopover they had planned
