LittleFairySmile · 24/11/2008 23:18

Yikes, run of bad news here girls. My thoughts are with you Lucky, Brummie & Hockey!

I'm hoping next year will be a better year for us all!

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 08/12/2008 17:37

Thanks LFS and luckymummy

Well, we have had another nightmare in the Brummie household! I took Dylan to see Santa with my mom last week in Clearwell Caves and had a lovely time - until Dylan fell over flat on his face and knocked one of his front teeth backwards in the gum
His poor mouth was bruised and swollen but he was a brave boy and sat for the dentist beautifully the next day! We have got to go back wednesday, so fingers crossed there won't be any damage and his second tooth will eventually come through ok! Boys eh?!

Luckymummy, can't believe that about your coil! Did they measure you up before they put it in? The nurse that was with me reckoned she only knew of one falling out and that was because the lady had a sort of 'cut' in her cervix and there was no way it was going to hold a coil! Hope you are feeling better in yourself.

goodchristmasgirl · 08/12/2008 18:58

Hi brummie

at poor Dylan, bless him, I hope he is OK now. Poor little thing.

Yes I was measured for my coil . Luckily we only did 'it' once while it was in, as I can't even trust it when it was in, IYSWIM! I even did a pg test saturday cos I'm a week late (could be stress). Luckily negative [phew!]
Anyway, DH went to the GP today and is now on the waiting list for the snip!!!!!! YAY!!

I have been feeling much better, despite the fact I am having major childcare worries. We have very recently realised that our CM (who we thougth was lovely) has been expecting poor Sophie to walk up to 5 miles a day on 3 separate school runs !!! She already has 2 in a double buggy and so poor Soph has to walk. Sophie has started crying and saying she doesn't want to go when I drop her off and saying she wants to stay home with me (absolutely heartbreaking).

I've also kind of worked out, having posted on here about the walking thing, that's she's over her OFSTED allowed numbers.

DH decided enough was enough and have decided to move the girls elsewhere. Trouble is, after 3 days of looking, no-one has vacancies for us . Obviously I need 2 spaces now .

I feel really stresed and haven't slept for days properly. I feel physically sick all the time at not knowing where my girls ar gonna go when I RTW in Feb.

We have a plan which would be perfect, I don't want to say what it is until it's finalised as I don't want to jinx it!!!

Watch this space!

hockey How are you?

LM/GCG

LittleFairySmile · 09/12/2008 14:49

Hi GCG, good luck with you plan! Let us know what it is when it is sorted!

Really nervous girls, got my BFP last week and sooooo but mc in July at 14 weeks so just want this one to stick!

goodchristmasgirl · 09/12/2008 17:12

LFS congratulations !!!!!

Wow! How many weeks are you? I know roughly how you might be feeling as I had an early MC before DD1. I don't think you can ever be pg again and not worry every single day. Keeping everything crossed for you and will say a special 'GCG' prayer that miniLFS stays healthy and keeps growing nicely!

Remind me, is this your second DC?

my Childcare solution

asuwere · 09/12/2008 21:20

Brummie poor dylan, hope he's ok and his tooth 'recovers'

hockey hope things are going as well as they can for your family

gcg - good to hear you've sorted out childcare . I'm glad I've never had to deal with childcare - all too stressful! I don't even know if I'm going back to work yet but I do. it's not till June and we'd do similar to you - both DH and I work 3 days a week. we'll see though.

lfs congrats! good luck with it all. I know it's easier said than done but try to relax and enjoy pregnancy. I worried a lot with DS3 and didn't really believe I would get a baby till I went into labour and then I panicked!! I really regret not enjoying being pregnant.

Oh, just remembered I've name changed - was asur! I've no news tho, am getting heating fitted this week so house is a mess so trying to stop DS1 'helping' LOL

apologies for any typos - DS3 currently sleeping on me (he has a cold!)

LittleFairySmile · 09/12/2008 21:52

GCG your childcare solution sounds perfect!! So happy for you! We'd LOVE to do that, but my job is only two days a week temporary until April anyway. I will have to rethink going back to work if when new baby arrives. My DS is my DC1 and if this baby arrives it will be my DC2.

Asur Love the idea of DS helping!

Hockey Thinking of you and for your family.

Brummie How is Dylan?

goodchristmasgirl · 10/12/2008 09:38

Yay! Let's wake up the May 06 thread again!!!!

LittleFairySmile · 10/12/2008 13:01

There are a few of us still kicking around then!

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 11/12/2008 20:53

Congrats LFS! Sooo pleased for you, as with Luckymummy, everything is crossed for you!

Luckymummy, i am sooo pleased for you too, sounds like a fantastic plan - esp the bit about dh realising how tough it is to look after the kids all day!! I didn't realise poor Sophie had such a nightmare, bless her - I can just imagine Dylan point blank refusing to do all that walking!! And at poor dh getting snipped!! hehehe!

Hockey how are things with you?

Little D had his second check up at the dentist yesterday, and again was SUCH a good boy. The tooth is still not in the right place but the dentist thought that it could still move back, esp as Dylan does not leave it alone! The big tooth should be ok, but if it does grow in wonky then they can do something about it. I just need to keep an eye on it for discolouring and any lumpy bits. It has been catching on his bottom tooth, poor lad can be half way through his dinner and then there is an almighty scrape as his teeth grind together - not nice at all!! It certainly hasn't stopped him from eating the choc out of his advent calendar! He is going back to the dentist again at the end of jan, so it is good he is being kept an eye on - still can't believe it has happened and i am a bit scared he is going to take after dh, who i can't believe is still alive after all of his childhood traumas - putting a metal poker in a plug hole and pulling a kettle of boiling water over his arm to name but 2 of the awful things he did!!

Anyway, so lovely the thread is up and running again!

goodchristmasgirl · 12/12/2008 11:07

morning all,

Sophie threw up in Tesco last friday, just after i had filled my trolley with bits, and today she threw up again, luckily all over the kitchen floor!

So now, both the girls are in bed, and DH is after a night shift, so I have some peace and quiet!

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 12/12/2008 14:50

Luckymummy poor girl! All i am going to say now is bicarbonate of soda! Works wonders in getting rid of the lovely sickly odour! Hope she gets well soon!

goodchristmasgirl · 13/12/2008 08:39

Brummie tell me more about this bicarb of soda. I've heard that before. I have the fine powder form used for baking, will that do? What do I do, dilute in water?

Poor Sophie sick again three times in the night.......

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 13/12/2008 16:51

Luckymummy, just sprinkle it over the offending smelly patch, add a bit of water to make it in to a sort of paste and leave for as long as you can (perhaps overnight), then hoover it up. The fine stuff is perfect! Good luck!

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 13/12/2008 16:52

Of course, that was meant for carpets! For clothes i guess you could do the same thing then bung it in the washing machine!

goodchristmasgirl · 13/12/2008 18:41

Cheers

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 24/12/2008 21:08

Merry Christmas to you all

Hope your lo's get loads of presents - Dylan certainly has this year, mainly due to dh going a bit mad! xx

asuwere · 27/12/2008 18:36

LM hope Sophie is feeling better.

Brummie good news about Dylan's tooth; no long term damage and of course a good story for his babybook.

[bragging mother emotion] DS1 is now fully potty trained!! Day AND night!! Am so proud of him. He'd had a dry night nappy consistently for about a week and before that, he was waking up then doing a wee (he told me) so I put a protector on his bed and just tried him without a nappy! Well over a week now and no accidents!! Yippee!!! After all the horror stories I've been told about boys and potty training, I feel so lucky with him!

If I'm not back on again before, Happy New Year to you all

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 05/01/2009 14:55

Happy New Year!

Asur - well done DS1!

Well after a very hectic xmas, we decided to try Dylan again with potty training, and after 5 days he was dry all day yesterday and has been all night for about 2 weeks - how is that, dry at night before all day?!! Must have a very strange child! BUT i actually have to guess when he needs to go cos he will not tell me! I ask and ask and it feels like he is being extremely stubborn and will do it in his own time! Must take after dh, cos it certainly isn't me! Ah well!

keevamum · 05/01/2009 15:18

I am sure I posted on here once before but I obviously haven't been on this thread. Is it ok if I join you? My DD2 was born in May 06 and I have 2 dd's in total. Her name is lulu and she is a little monkey but fortunately for her very cute with it so this allows her to get away with murder...She attends nursery 2 days a week now and her elder sister is at school. My DH and I are currently having discussions about whether we should try for a third or be happy with what we've got. I have suffered m/c's previously so I am a bit hesitant as well as the obvious financial strain that having three may bring. Has anyone on this thread got 3 dc's? Would you recommend it? Also the other thing I could probably gain from this thread is the potty training. DD2 is dry in the day but I haven't attempted the night yet. Have your dc's succesfully potty trained at night and do you advise to just go for it? Thanks in advance...

luckymummy74 · 05/01/2009 20:55

HI keevamum and welcome . I switch between being goodcatholicgirl and luckymummy74 but my new year's resolution is to not name-change as much on MN!!! hee hee!

My DD1 also born May 06 (obviously, or I wouldn't be on this thread ). I also have an 8 month old DD2. They are both good as gold and gorgeous....of course.....

We potty trained DD1 in July last year, so she was just over 2 yrs old. She got the hang of it super quickly and only ever had 2 accidents ! However, she still wears a nappy at night. I have a few points to make about this....(in a nice way!)

  1. Her nappy is full and sodden (swinging by her knees!) in the morning, so she obviously wees a lot at night. However, a quite a few friends have told me that their DDs were the same, but when they decided to take the nappies off at night, they used a potty by the bed initially, but after a few days were dry at night [sceptical]! I haven't plucked up the courage to try yet. Maybe in summer when easier to do all the laundry that goes with bed wetting!!
  1. She initially didn't wear nappies for daytime naps (sometimes 2 hrs long) but wet the bed a couple of times and it really distressed her, so now she wears pull ups for daytime naps ('sleepy pants'). They are dry half the time and wet half the time. I think she gets so worn out that when she's asleep she's too sparko to know she's weeing.
  1. I have heard that there is a hormone that little girls don't 'get' until they are about 3 yrs old (not sure about boys I'm afraid, maybe the same?) which actually enables them to hold more wee.
  1. I'm genuinely not that worried that she still wears a nappy at night, it's only one per day, so cost is low, and tbh, not an inconvenience at all. I think she's doing really well as some kids aren't even potty trained til they are 4 or 5 yrs old, so I'm just relaxed about it at the moment.

Hope that helps!!!

Well, hope you all had a good Christmas and new year. I am very pleased ot tell you all that I really feel I am over the PND. I have felt myself now for weeks. I took some herbal ADs for about 3 weeks but haven't had them for about 4 weeks now. I feel on top of the world. I think in retrospect, I was very anxious about returning to work and having to get both DDs up and breakfast and out of the house by 7:40am, but now that my childcare is sorted (DH going part time too and we will share it) I feel so relaxed and really looking forward to return to work in Feb.

DD1 started playgroup today and enjoyed it. They said she had a few 'missing mummy' tears but I suppose that is to be expected, first day and all. She didn't know a soul there, so she did really well. They told me when I picked her up that she was very good at drawing, esp circles and faces, very polite, very clear in her talking and expressed her needs well and that we should be very proud of her.....it made my day. Bless her. And she walked all the way there (half hour) and back in the snow, which she was quite scared of!!!

Hockey how are things? Been thinking of you.

Asuwere well done on the potty training!

LM xxx

LittleFairySmile · 06/01/2009 15:20

Well, rather of potty-trained tots on here. DS is soooo stubborn, had another day of big boy pants yesterday and he hated it. Wet through three sets, no warning, just said 'I've wet my pants again Mummy'. We have the 'everybody poos' book, and he knows if he wees or poos on potty or toilet he will get a sweet or a chocolate. He knows babies wee and poo in a nappy, but just says 'I'm a baby' when we point this out to him, even though he says 'I'm a big boy' when he does manage a wee on toilet/potty. Just doesn't want to! Any advice there then?

On other news, current pg seems to be sticking. Got first scan a week today! Really, really want to see it's ok. Perhaps then I can stop being so neurotic. MS (ha - morning, my bottom, 24/7 more like) is fairly convincing though! Hope all is well in there. Getting a bit of a podge already! And I barely ate over Christmas as I felt to ill, so can't be that! Hey-ho!

luckymummy74 · 06/01/2009 19:38

LFS glad pg progressing well. What is your due date?

Don't know what to suggest re: potty training. I know it's winter and vvvvvv cold, but we did DD1 in July, and we let her in the house just wear top half clothes, so no pants on. I think sometimes if they have pants on they know they can wee in them! Could you try cranking up the heating and having him pant-less and seeing if that works? We did no pants at all for 3 days.
Also did a reward chart, stickers, with a big treat like a trip to the park or something. DD1 just loved even being allowed to put the stickers on her chart!!!

Good luck!

asuwere · 12/01/2009 20:12

lucky very of the 2 hour naps!! DS1 doesn't nap at all! And he's up at 6am at the latest! DS3 isn't very keen on naps either... Wish they liked their beds more - of course, when they're moody teenagers stuck in bed, I'll be moaning then too! LOL

LFS hope the MS eases a bit soon. No real advice on potty training but if it's any consolation, DS1 was like Dylan too - knew what to do but still had wet pants all day. I just left him another week or so and he decided himself that he wanted to use the potty... I think it was a stubborn thing and he wanted to make the decision IFYSWIM? He also liked stickers as 'rewards'.

LittleFairySmile · 13/01/2009 19:42

Thanks for advice guys re. potty training. Have put him back in nappies for now. Hey ho.

DH been made redundant, so interesting times here.

Had scan today and saw heartbeat. Measured at 9+5 today, so due 11th Aug, all being well. Anyone know when you start feeling 'safe' after you've had a mc?

Take care all.
