Scared out of my wits

Hi,

My baby was born in June, 9 days early. He weighed 6lb 15oz and was in the 10th centile for weight, the 40th centile for head circumference and somewhere thereabout for length.

We took him to the doctors the other day for his check up and then are worried as his head is now in the 91st centile whilst his body is only in the 25th.

I've scared myself by googling it, and can only find women with much older babies experiencing this. Has anyone else had this happen to their young babies? What was the outcome? Is there still any hope that its nothing?

Babies are weird things!
I'm thinking if anything was genetically wrong wouldn't it have been picked up already by bloods/scans?
My Son had a protruding forehead as a baby, no one said it medically was or anything like that, as I took him to the Doctors but I just noticed it was quite large, he is 5 now and has since grown into his head just fine.

Yes, there is, because the difference between a huge head and a small head really isn't a huge amount. It needs to be measured in the same place ideally by the same person for the discrepancy to be valid.
Also, as someone whose babies head did go from ok to large, it doesn't have to mean there's an issue. He just has a big head. Brain scan was normal. He's a bit more fluid around than usual but there's no pressure so the fluid is stable.

What is your GP advising?

We are going for a Cranial Ultrasound in the morning, they'll be looking for hydrocephalus, white matter problems, encephalitis, developmental delays and tumours. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's nothing but I am absolutely terrified right now
