breastfeeding & periods

so despite exclusively BF and BF often I got my first period when baby was 3 months old. He’s now 5 months and i’m on my 3rd cycle.

Pre pregnancy my cycles were short, ranged from 21-26 days but ovulated early in my cycle and obviously got pregnant no problem so no issues.

Now my cycles seem to be around 20 days with ovulation around day 14/15 so very short luteal phase. Has anyone experienced this? I know breastfeeding can affect cycles but it’s stressing me out wondering if somethings wrong

Mine returned after 4 weeks despite exclusive breast feeding but were lighter than pre pregnancy. They're also longer now but shorter overall cycle (used to be 5 weeks).

I trump that. May period resumed 3 days once PP bleeding stopped! That was 6weeks exactly.

So Prolactin affects Progesterone. Ot affects ovulation and luteal phase massively. If you are trying to get pregnant then it can cause erratic cycles. Mine after DS1 ranged from 20days - 41days.
We were TTC so I weaned DS1 and after 3 cycles things normalised and I was able to conceive on the 3rd month.

Id let your cycles settle for at least 6 months to a year, especially whilst breastfeeding. Any changes are unlikely to be permanent, your hormones are still settling. I have had a few changes post baby but for the first 6 months things were all over the show (and I never breastfed even once so I didn't have that to contend with)
