re teets barristermum. George was taking aaaaaages to drink his bottle and aaaaaages to burp so I upped his teets. Your supposed to do this when theyre 3 months anyway but I didnt with ds4 as he just coughed and spluttered so much with them and was generaly sick because he used to bolt the bottle down so fast but ds5 seems to do well on them. He brings his wind up so much better too hes much more settled at night. He will sometimes splutter a bit it depends how hungry he is but 9 times out of 10 hes fine. Give them a try and if she doesn't like the atleast youve got them for when she is ready for them. HTH

Hi all
At the risk of jinxing the lot, another good night. Nathan slept from 9.45 till 1 and 1.30 till 6.15, then another hour. 1.30 till 6.15 feels like a whole night! He then bolted his food so fast (how does he manage to draw so much that it goes glupglupglup instead of sucksuckswallow? ) that the lot nearly came out again.

Then we had some playtime and a feed and a bath and he screamed so loud when I took him out that he is now sleeping it off .

Any exciting plans for the weekend? Nothing here, except determined to make it to church tomorrow. Been a bit slack recently.

As a soon to be minister's wife (DH will be ordained on 29 June) that is of course not on . Talking of which, on Thursday we are going to our future parish to view the house that they are hopefully buying for us to live in. Four beds, massive kitchen and a study, utility room too. It is a new build though, so the question is always does the pushchair fit the hallway?

madmouse · 05/04/2008 11:32

what happened there?

katyt1 · 05/04/2008 14:05

madmouse - the new house sounds like it could be lovely. do you get to say if you don't want them to buy that one if it's not right?

i have to say it before it doesn't happen again - Henry SLEPT THROUGH last night
he fell asleep downstairs at 6.30, quick nappy change and sleeping bag put on, then he fell asleep again, woke up at 6am
i of course was awake on and off from 2am as i was so uncomfortable, ah well.

loving the (temporary) good weather atm, can spend so much time in the garden, keep asking friends round who don't have gardens and all the toddlers get on with playing (and arguing over toys, etc.) it's so much easier than trying to find an 'activity' tho henry is less impressed...

tried him in his magic roundabout again, he seems to really enjoy it tho it tires him out, tom thinks it is still his so can foreesee some arguments...

beller - how was swimming? think the doc was off their trolley.... those nurseries sound grim

lucky - did you go swimming too?

still no sex here either...dh hasn't even mentioned it but i feel like it's this huge thing every bedtime....need to just get that first one over with iykwim. think someone else said about it not necessarily being the 'best' - so no expectations

gingeme - hope you are busy but happy with a houseful

betterhalf - don't know about the eye question, will try and look it up later. know ds1's changed gradually from blue - dark blue - grey - brown but can't remember the timescales. sure it must have started changing by now tho.

ange - sounds like alek is doing really well - and somebody has to be up there on the graphs
but yes i would think a sections might be best for your next baby, esp as babies supposedly get bigger each time.....

amani & nicky6 - how are you doing today?

lily - how could you forget that gingeme managed a hb?!! on the bathroom floor without a mw if i recall correctly
but you're right, did anyone else??
hope you have a good busy weekend.

fragolina - how was your SIL? hope you managed to distract her for a bit if nothing else.

right, think that's caught up, ds1 crying instead of sleeping, ds 2 just waking from his nap, not much peace here and dh out most of the day
yesterday dh bought a new bike with a seat for ds1 who loved it so hoping they can go out again later.
mean to snow tomorrow and we have friends with 3 young ones coming, hmm not sure what to do with 5 under 6's inside for a day?!

lilyloo · 05/04/2008 14:44

Just popping by to say hi how could i forget that one Katy, whoops !
It has been trying to snow here today but stopped now !
Glad to see it's not just us they must all be having growth spurts Martha had another bad night taking ages to settle and waking more frequently feel like a zombie today.

betterhalf · 05/04/2008 14:53

Had a great nights sleep here. Toby slept from 7 til 10, then through til 4.30, then conked out again til 8.30. Absolutely great.

I have just introduced the 2 hole teat bottle for him and he finds it much better. Feeds quicker, hardly any wind, and what there is he brings up really quickly.

Can't wait for the time he sleeps the whole night through. Trouble is I will probably keep waking up and checking on him though, so wont rest anyway for the first few times he does ir.

susiemj · 05/04/2008 16:39

Hello all,

Just been doing a bit of catching up. Glad you're all more or less well.

We've just got back from Spain. In the end we spent the whole time there and didn't visit my parents because we got really ill as soon as we got there. DH got pneumonia and I got bronchitis. Thankfully, the baby was least affected but had a couple of horrible nights when she had a 39 degree fever. We lost loads of money on the tickets too. But on the bright side we were looked after by DH's [arents and the baby was an absolute angel on both 10-hour trips.

Sabela has been a bit upset since we got home. I'm not sure if it's because she's been looked after by lots of other people but she wants to be in arms all the time and last night refused the moses basket for the first time. Hopefully she'll settle down soon.

She's a real little lady now, holding her head up and looking around her and 'chatting' so much I can't believe she's going to take long to talk. 3 months already! phew!

lilyloo · 05/04/2008 17:33

Susie sounds like an eventful trip. Glad your all ok now ! I know can't believe we here already it just goes so quickly!

OP posts:
madmouse · 05/04/2008 19:24

Susie, that sounds like a nightmare. I am sure Sabela will settle again soon. Can't believe she still fits in her moses basket being 3 weeks older than Nathan. How big is she now?

Katyt, no we do not get to have a formal say in the house purchase. In most jobs there is already a house with the job, it is just that this lot has not had a curate for a while. The diocese buys and has asked dh's new boss to view it and he has invited us.

Betterhalf, if we had not bought the apnoea monitor I am not sure how many times a night I would check up on Nathan. On the other hand he is such a noisy sleeper.... Not holding my breath for sleeping through until solids. Breastmilk just digests too quickly.

madmouse · 05/04/2008 20:21

ps uploaded a picture of Nathan smiling that dh managed to make a few weeks ago

gingeme · 05/04/2008 21:24

madmouse he his so handsome. What a little smasher.
Been busy here ds3 is realy poorly been very sick and had a high temp. Hes had a slice of toast today and it stayed down so hopefuly hell be on the mend real soon.
Apart from that all is well. ds5 getting lots of cuddles from his big brothers lovely having them here. If I don't post very often its because Im busy busy busy
Take care all xx

LuckySalem · 05/04/2008 21:55

Susie - Wot an awful time!!

no we didnt go swimming - going nxt wk perhaps.

Im almost poz shes teething, keeps shoving her hands in her mouth, dribbling n yelling- REALLY EARLY IF ITS TRUE!!

susiemj · 06/04/2008 11:30

Lucky - Sabela is doing the same and HV says she can see teeth. She keeps putting my finger in her mouth and moving it to the side to give it a big chomp. Not sure I'm looking forward to this!

Madmouse - what a happy chap! He looks great. What's your latest? Sorry haven't read all posts. Sabela has always been a titch. I'm not sure how much she weighs in pounds but she's just under 5kilos now I think. I know what you mean about bm

Hello lilyloo! Howm old is your LO now?

mixedmama · 06/04/2008 12:31

morning ladies,

how is everyone?

Not much to say from me, but just lost the thread as i hadnt posted for a few days so am just keeping it in my latest threads.

madmouse · 06/04/2008 12:56

Susie, Nathan is really well in himself as you can see, no seizures so far and as he must be about 5 kilos now (4.9 last Monday) and was born 3300gr his medicine is not that effective anymore. We are seeing the consultant in two weeks and hopefully she will say wean him off it. He is developing rapidly, giggling, cooing at his cot mobile, playing games, kicking about under his play arch and trying to turn over.

I also think he is starting to teeth (9 weeks ) as he has a small hard lump bottom left and does the same as Sabela with my finger. He is also starting to dribble more and posset which he has only done very infrequently.

Still did not make church this morning. I did not sleep that great (although Nathan was in his cot at 8 and asleep by nine- yay!)and there was too much snow (in Oxfordshire!) to brave the roads. Can't wait for spring, although I did take Nathan into the garden to show him his first snow and make him feel it.

barristermum · 06/04/2008 13:10

Heaps of snow here too although it's already starting to melt. Took Cerys out in her snowsuit to see the snow - she was monumentally unimpressed, so all our photos are of a crying baby grumpy as she's just woken up and is now being snowed on!

Very excited - booked a long weekend away in posh hotel in the cotswolds for the 3 of us yesterday for 1st may bank holiday. The ony doubles they had were in the annexe - as DH said "A madeline mcann stone's throw away" from the main hotel - so we ended up booking the penthouse suite!!!! We got an offer of 3 nights for the price of 2 so are justifying it that way. It has a lovely restaurant with a listening in service from reception and lots of lovely walks in the area. Cerys' first holiday. Can't wait!

lots of love

bluebell82 · 06/04/2008 13:28

Hello ladies- how is everyone??
We did the deed last night and it felt completely normal so dh is skipping around the house bless him- we wentout for the first time last night for 3 hours and although it felt strange it was fab, getting to grips at a couple again as well as amommy and daddy! Although the alcohol did bring up the question of shall we try and make another baby- now- risky little game when you've had a drink!
Ruby is doing so well she went down for her nan at 9pm last night, asleep within minutes and woke up at 5.30am for a bottle of ebm which my dh fed her as two glasses of red floored me last night, but I hadn't had a single drink 11 months!
Feel a little crappy today so apologies for no individual catch although I am generally crap at doing them anyway!!
Enjoy your snowy Sunday!

Dotsie · 06/04/2008 13:54

hi all. not been on for ages - Patrick was Christened on Easter Sunday, so had loads of friends and relatives around for a while. was hectic but lovely.

got a call from the secretary of the local allotments that day to say my name had come to the top of the waiting list, so now have (half) an allotment! they're only 5 mins walk from our house, so am walking there most days with the dogs, P in the pram, and the fork wedged in the front behind the handle. am just tackling the rubbish and couch grass at the mo, but have started runner neans, sweet peas, tomatoes and sweetcorn in mini propagators on the windowsills. have courgettes to pt in too, although no rush just yet. am really enjying being outdoors so much, and sometimes even get some digging done whenP lets me! off to get changed in a mo, and get to it. dragging whole family down there so dh can help shift the old carpets on the plot (courtesy of previous tenant).

no snow much here. a little bit on the car this morning, but melted pretty much straight away.

P now 12 weeks, (home birth btw), is trying to roll over, laughing, chuckling, nearly sitting unaided, will stand and support his weight with hands held. suspect another early walker! (dd walked at 11 months) he's doing really well, am so proud of him! got second jabs on fri. was ok last time tho, i just fed him while he was being injected, and he whimpered a little, then went straight back to feeding! the wonders of bf!

right, nappy change for P, change into scruffs for me and dd, a quick bite to eat, then off to the allotment!

take care all, will pop in again soon.

love to all,
D x

katyt1 · 06/04/2008 14:13

deed done here too, phew
lots of snoew but not settling boo hiss. did mean that friends coming over for day cancelled as we both felt it was a bit mad to get 3 young ones in a car and venture onto m25 in mad weather.
so a bonus free day. have been in loft - dh wouldn't let me go up when pg or post c-s and it was chaos up there! en really anyway, tidied up and boxes of kids clothes are in order, christmas decs all at one end and so on. feel virtuous, lol.
also descaling the shower head, goodness it's satisfying

dotsie - the allotment sounds great - if a tad messy from previous person and P doing SO well. you must make strong babies

bluebell - last night sounds good, no 2 soon then?! as in 9 months

barristermum - the holiday sounds fab, your dh is quite right of course, shudder.

madmouse - don't worry about church, you will get there, sure everyone understands if you miss a few at the mo. with all the nathan is accomplishing must make you wonder about the brain damage? hope the consultant has lots of good news for you.

gingeme - waving hello to busy mum of 5 !

re teething - is def poss to be this early. ds1 was an early, fast teether but first one didn't break through til 20wks. he's finished now which i think is great. hope ds2 follows suit.

all going well here, ds2 didn't quite manage a sleep through last night, just one feed at 4.30, then both of them got up at 7, so feeling pretty positive about sleep here.
and both having a massive nap at the SAME TIME right now! shd be doing something productive but hey, sat here with chocolate cake surfing MN

MamaMaiasaura · 06/04/2008 14:52

Waves

Hello HOpe you are all ok. Been very hectic here.

Update is that i have now been repaired (Wednesday) still sore but getting better.

Samuel is doing great, cant believe he is 14 weeks. Had 2nd imms, is 15lb7. Still breastfeeding well and co-sleeping. Rolled a few times yesterday (think gravity helped). LOts of interesting sounds. LOts of smiles and laughter.

Ds1 is still loving being a big brother and helps with everything he can

DP is great too, though is off to Japan again in June. We are planning ttc again which is fantastic. House still on market so stressy there but things will happen i am sure.

Had a good routine going of sleeping 8-4 then till 7/8. That changed last week after imms and clock change. Last sunday he went 10 hours which made me worry.. daft eh! But last nigth he went 10.30 till 7.45. Just going with the flow really.

I am really glad how thing sare going and determinded to bfeed till he wants to stop (even if it means tandem!)

fillybuster · 06/04/2008 15:09

Hi all, Fluffy here, had a bit of a name change as feeling distinctly unfluffy at the moment....typing one handed and looking after ds at the same time as holding Tamara so going to be very brief...

Great to hear all lo's are doing so well....T is 9.5 weeks already which seems shocking! She rolled over several times yesterday & looked ridiculously pleased with herself, then a mite put out when dh kept rolling her back onto her front!

Things still v tough here, 2 weeks today since FIL passed away and dh finding it (understandably) very difficult to adjust to. Having an active 2.5yr old makes it harder as well, as dh hasto keep going during the day hen he really just wants to find a corner to curl up and be quiet in...

Feeding and sleeping going well, mostly, altho i think T got very cold at 5am so yelled the house down. Fortunately ds is now sleeping thru her noise & she settled once dh put her heater on....tired today tho

Hugs to all xxx

Letsgo · 06/04/2008 15:22

Hi All

I was on the antenatal thread but have not yet posted on the postnatal one (at least I don't think I have!)

Oliver is 11 weeks old now and wonderful. So sweet and good natured. I have read through some of your posts but apologies that I have not had time to read them all (although hoping to do so when I have more time). It's lovely to read that everyone seems to be getting on so well with our little miracles.

Anyway got to go but will be back! Just wanted to say Hi x

gingeme · 06/04/2008 18:19

Hi me quickly. George slept from 8pm to 6am last night
Shame none of my other littleys slept that well
Hope your all well xxx

katyt1 · 06/04/2008 18:22

G - we could set up a sweepstake for which of your 5 sleeps the longest/gets up the most/disturbs you the earliest....
what are the odds of 5 boys all sleeping peacefully from 10-ish to 6 / 7am?
