How much formula was your 2 month old on?

My baby is 8 weeks in a few days and until now has been taking 4 fluid oz of formula quite happily. The past couple of days hasn't been so satisfied and is now emptying 5 fluid oz bottles every couple of hours.

She's only 8 weeks and the last time she was weighed (about 3 weeks ago) she was 9.1 pounds.

I was wondering if this was normal? My biggest worry with this is that I'm overfeeding and/or she's eating for the sake of, cause she's enjoying it and not necessarily cause she needs it.

I had similar .. I introduced a dummy (no judgement) .. my boy used to just suckle for comfort and take formula or the boob when he didn't actually want it. Which was not ideal for either of us. If he spits it out he's still hungry. 9 times out of 10 he goes to sleep within minutes as he just likes the comfort of it!

I use an app called Huckleberry to track feedings, diapers and naps, so I can understand what’s normal for us. At 8 weeks my son would take between 6 and 9 bottles per day, anywhere from 24oz - 34oz. I don’t think what you are seeing is abnormal. Different Drs give different advice, but mine said we couldn’t over feed him, so I didn’t worry about that at all and instead just followed his queue’s.

You’re daughter may be due a growth spurt

My newborn was very hungry all the time. She would take much more than the recommend amount, especially for her weight!

I stopped worrying so much, and as long as she doesn't vomit it all I just give her what she wants. I do make sure she eats slowly, take her time and force her to break at least once. We also use size 0 teats.

She's 11 weeks old now and takes 5 x 6oz.
At 8 weeks I'm pretty sure we were at 7x 4oz.

How is she getting on now @Rldowning? Has she slowed down at all yet? Is she following her centiles? Wink

@ExplodingSmittens She's going a bit longer now, for the most part! Her weight is on track though 😊 So that's given me some reassurance she's eating what she needs.
