Just that really my baby is almost 3 weeks old and I'm finally settling in to my mum role (FT) and I'm really looking forward to a nice glass of wine. I guess my question is how soon is to soon. Im formula feeding also.

I think you’ll get some really varied answers.
I breastfed and panicked about it so it was past a year. Just didn’t fancy it as I was shattered and co-sleeping.
As long as baby is safe then I don’t see the harm.

What are you waiting for?

BigusBumus1 · 03/03/2023 15:09

My last son was born on Xmas Eve at 4pm. I went home on Xmas Day at 7am and was cooking lunch for 12 people by 11am, well helping my mum who was staying at ours. I had a glass of champagne at about noon and then another couple through the afternoon.

Honestly its up to you and how you feel. Please don;t think that just being a new mum prevents you from having a wine or a G&T if you fancy it.

About day 3 why not.

Day 10, the first time I made it out of the house with some friends. Cold shandy in a sunny square, amazing! I’m breastfeeding but read on here that it’s not a problem. I drink a glass of wine or a shandy a couple of times a week.
Enjoy it and cheers to your new little one! :D

With ds2 I had him at 11:25..was stitched up then sent home around 7.. went to maccies drive through on the way home and enjoyed a Big Mac and a vino! (I breastfed too). Was a lovely day!

About 5 mins after getting home from the hospital, mw told me what passes through from when breastfeeding is is minimal

MotherOfCrocodiles · 20/03/2023 22:35

Beer and pizza the evening I got home from hospital

Felt like a prison break!

maddy68 · 20/03/2023 22:57

The day I came out of hospital. We opened a bottle of champagne.

SophiaSW1 · 20/03/2023 23:05

The day after, when I came home from hospital. Champagne to celebrate

Mine was a couple of months in as a FTM - at Christmas.

As long as you don't drink and bed-share, whenever you're ready.

Yerroblemom1923 · 03/05/2023 06:10

I think it was the day after having dd. Some fizz to celebrate. Midwife had assured me it was fine to breastfeed as the amount in your milk is negligible.
Go for it, OP, you've gone 40 weeks without so enjoy! And congratulations on your new baby!

Believeitornot · 03/05/2023 06:11

Probably once they started sleeping properly. After giving up while pregnant I wasn’t fussed (more than made up for it once they were a lot older and going off it again as I get too old for late nights 😂)

VintedoreBay · 03/05/2023 13:47

@Believeitornot what does 'sleeping properly' mean to you? Mine didn't sleep through until over 2yo - I definitely wanted a drink before then!! 😆

Bibijuju · 20/05/2023 09:58

When I got home from the hospital (same day as giving birth) poured a lovely glass of champagne that evening - only managed a couple of sips 😂
