Weee everywhere at changes

Sometimes when we are changing our 3 w/o boy the dreaded thing happens... he pees everywhere! If I'm honest I don't even get frustrated anymore I just laugh it off because if you don't do that everything becomes 10x harder and he seems to sense that. We've tried the wet wipe, cold air on tummy and opening it for a moment and closing. I do the nappies as fast as possible and have become a lot more proficient. I guess what I'm asking is even after all this if it still happens once every few days am I doing it right or doing something wrong. I just want to believe that sometimes it happens and there's nothing you can do about it, when nature calls you gotta go. Just to be clear I do put down a new nappy it's usually when your applying nappy cream and he makes a fuss so you got to calm him down when he does it.

This is what muslins are for. Muslin on the changing table, another over his penis , wait until he goes then clean and on with a new nappy. Muslins into the wash.

I was about to suggest similar except I use old hand towels

My first did it all the time, second not so much after the first couple of weeks. Not much you can do other than be as quick as possible. Keep a very close eye, it will lift up just before he wees so if you're lucky you can catch it but you have to be very quick

Lift the nappy at the front, but don’t close it fully, so possibly a 45 degree angle, so the nappy doesn’t touch at all. Worked every time with my boys
