Baby will only drink 2oz

Looking for any advice or tips!

My baby is 11 weeks old and is mainly breast fed, I have been trying to give her a bottle once a day for the past month just to start getting her used to it for when I go back to work or want to leave her with family etc.

I tried with expressed milk but she refused. I then tried her with aptamil formula and she will drink 2oz pretty much everytime and then stop. No matter what I do (distract her, walk around, different positions) she stops after 2oz. We’re currently using MAM bottles after trying these and the Tommee Tippee she prefers these (I think).

she does have silent reflux but she doesn’t seem uncomfortable she just refuses the bottle after 2oz. I’m worried about leaving her with anyone if this is all she will drink! Any tips?

My baby has started doing the same, only FF, using mam bottles. I give her a break after 2oz and try her again after 15 - 30mins. It was a sore throat. I made the bottles hotter than I usually would and she gobbled them up.

Is she not just drinking 2oz because that's all she needs? My BF baby will drink 1.5 - 2oz in a bottle that I express for and she is content

By 11 weeks they should be taking more substantial amounts and then feeding less often throughout the day. 2 oz is the equivalent of them snacking throughout the day instead of having substantial meals 😅

It’s completely normal for a breastfed baby not to want much from a bottle. Persist but be prepared for it to continue or for her to potentially refuse altogether. I did a bottle a day with both babies and one got up to about four ounces then stopped completely. The other would still only take about 4oz by one.

FF babies need more and more formula to get their calorie intake as they get bigger, whereas breast milk adapts for the age of the baby and they consume a consistent amount (average 750ml) between 0-6 months. Look at KellyMom website for more info or La Leche League.
