Heavy Period 8 Weeks PP

Hi! I started my period 6 days ago at 8 weeks PP - I’m combi feeding so from what I’ve read it’s normal to start that early. However it is so so heavy! I barely had any bleeding after my c section and then all of a sudden this began! I wouldn’t say I’m going through pads every hour however it’s incredibly heavy and I’m starting to feel dizzy as it’s just not tapering off yet! Has anyone else had heavy bleeding for this long after they had their babies? How long did it last for?

I‘ m planning on going to the doctors on Monday if it hasn’t settled or reduced by then but just starting to feel anxious about it all!

Hi, I had a c section and didn't bleed too much with it. I'm bottle feeding, first period returned after 6 weeks, and it was really heavy at times

I spotted for three weeks post section. Bottle fed from the start and got my first period at 13w. It lasted five days and one of the days was super heavy. Second period also five days but half the flow. Now waiting on my third.

Hi OP,

I am 8 weeks pp and have just got a really heavy period - bleeding through a tampon and pad every 2 hours. I know this is an old thread but, just wondering if you went to the GP about this or, if it settled down?

Thanks!

@Yrmyfavourite hi! Yes it did die down thankfully! I ended up going to the GP ss it stopped for me and then restarted a few days later really heavy again she said it was all really common and prescribed me some tranexamic acid (not sure how it’s spelt ha) which slows bleeding down but to be honest it started slowing down itself by that point! She also referred me for an ultrasound to check I had no retained tissue or anything but she just did that because I was worried as I’d had a miscarriage in the past and had that so she more did that for me!
the next period for me was Also quite hesvy but it all sorted itself out :)

think it’s extremely common from what GP said but she did put me at ease when I went! xx
