Help! Think Dirty Humidifier caused chesty cough

Hello!

I really hope you guys can help!!

I’ve just had my first baby and she is 1 month old today.

Our whole house just caught Covid - my husband first and he is now over it, then myself and now the baby. We are all getting to the end of it but the baby had some trouble sleeping on her back as she was so congested. Last night she was much better and slept well, however, in an attempt to HELP heal her I turned on a humidifier that I haven’t used in months!

Before turning it on, I threw out the old water it had been sitting in all that time (I’m an idiot I know!) and cleaned the tank as far as what I could see. I rinsed the filter (didn’t have a new one and didn’t know this could become an issue) and filled the tank with clean water.

Despite the fact my Covid cough had totally cleared before bed last night, I have no woken up with a very, very chesty cough. I can’t breathe in without coughing. My poor baby has been exposed to the same thing and I’m panicking now that I’ll have given her asthma or some kind of lung infection.

We only had it on this one evening. Can anyone help with advice???

Thank you!!
