Good luck with your scan today Chacha Am amazed you'll have 3 under 3!
Diege, ooh I quite liked Raef! That ultra posh accent was so funny. Looking forward to seeing how thay all get on. Hope your conference goes well
Right lunchtime, have had a lazy few days round the house lately and all I want to do is eat! Quite fancy a crisp sandwich at the moment....
Going out tonight with a few girlfriends, so have the task of doing my crappy nails this afternoon. Horses and nice hands don't go. Bye for now x

Still at the beach until sunday. The weather has been a bit strange - was sat out in the sunshine yesterday, got soaked this morning in a dash from the theatre to pizza express, and now it's sunny again . Discovered a local soft play centre yesterday which is a good standby for rainy days, and went to see the Gruffalo today. It's been really lovely this week, although having BIL around gets a bit annoying. Hopefully DH will get his money sorted out next week so he can buy him his own house, he simply doesn't understand my filing system for sheets in the airing cupboard!

mypandasgotcrabs · 28/03/2008 21:40

Hi

ChaCha, how was teh scan?

nova, lol at your filing system, sounds like me!

I've managed to get hold of Wembley tickets today, so will be taking Owen up. I'm so excited. It's an opportunity to spend a day with Owen which is great.

LaylaandSethsmum · 29/03/2008 21:07

Hi

Glad you're having a lovely time at the seaside Nova, we've just had rain and more rain today!!

Hope everything went ok with the scan Cha Cha !

Am in a bit of a stress at the moment, went for an interview yesterday with a view to doing my training to be a health visitor ( although the general MN opinion of HV isn't too great), its Laylas birthday on thursday and we have her party tomorrow and we are off to Dubai next sunday! I dont know if i'll ever manage to get organisd for it, am trying to get BIL to get certain things in for the kids ie; cereals, milk juice and even asked him to get me some nappies so i don't need to take millions with me, it was as if I'd asked him to get me the moon ( don't really know if it bodes well, they are " childfree" and S is an absolute pest most of the time at the moment!!)

HI to everyone xxx

ChaCha · 30/03/2008 16:11

Hi L&S - wondered when you were off to Dubai, hope you have a great time. DH went for a week recently, looked lovely.
Hope you get sorted and Happy Birthday to L, i'm sure everything will go just fine. How was your interview anyway?

Rodeo - Hope you enjoyed night out and LOL at eating all the time, just like me! Re: 3 under 3, just keep telling myself it will be the summer (oh how i hope we have one) and DSs will be happy to play outdoors/go to parks etc.. we live in hope

Scan was good, no problems it seems. Baby was lively and waving/kicking so lovely to see. DSs stayed pretty quiet throughout which was good as sonographer said she would ask DH to leave with them if they became restless - DH was not amused and think he had them pinned to his knees lol. Baby as with DSs measuring big for dates but not taking any notice, both boys were 7.10 and 12 and not in any way BIG so not going to worry. We did ask to be told boy or girl but she said she couldn't tell as the cord was in the way and baby wasn't being helpful and i really wanted to find out so will now be a surprise i guess. Same gut instinct it is a boy, i even see boy features in scan lol!!

Hope you are all well. I am sooo hungry must go and eat. love to all x

Rodeo · 30/03/2008 23:33

Evening!
Chacha, sooooo lovely to hear about scan Esp. as I'm not going to have another ever! A surprise, eh? So exciting! I can see you with 3 boys and know you'll be an amazing mother to them all (over a quarter of a footy team!) Hmm about grumpy sonographer - for someone who see's the miracle of life several times a day, she must be getting too used to it.
L&S - Have a gorgeous time in Dubai you lucky thing! Keep forgetting me & dp are off to Barcelona Sunday too Something tells me you won't be checking in at EMA with us though!
Had a nice day today, the weather was lovely, taste of the summer! Went riding this morn, quick nip to supermarket, trip to the park, then off to friend's to pick up a new bike for Bel which her daughter has grown out of.l Dp very jealous it's better than his 'hmph, mine hasn't got full suspension' Haha! She's very pleased with it
We got a letter off our sponsored child yesterday, which was so lovely She's beautiful and invited us to her village in Senegal! And she drew us a picture, was really close to tears when I read it. Going to write back to her this week, I know I'll be re-doing it over and over and she's only 5
Had fab night out, few too many shots though, when I'm in the mood I can be very reckless....so paid for it in full yesterday, think I was still in recovery today - closed my eyes while onboard today and nearly fell off bloody horse on the high street! Never again...
Righ off to bed, my body still thinks it's 10.30 so best be off, very me me post tonight girls sorry, must be the wine. Hmm now I'm sounding like an alcoholic, will quit while I'm ahead, night all x x x

I had my friend round with her 3 kids today (ds 5, dd1 3, dd2 16mnths). They stayed for 2 hours, it took me an hour and a half to tidy up afterwards.....I have a headache....

ChaCha · 01/04/2008 17:20

Awww Rodeo, thank you - really nice to log on and see such a nice message. I don't think anyone in RL has said something as nice with this pregnancy so thanks for that Have ignored those who try and ignore my pg this time round or like to create an impression of dread when it comes to three small children being around - some people are just thoughtless so your message was just lovely!! Hope that wasn't a rant there btw

Sponsoring child is a wonderful idea Rodeo, something i'd like to do when children are old enough to understand concept and write back etc.. Lovely thing to do. LOL at DH and bike

I let the boys sleep from 3.30 today and they are still sleeping so i'd better go and wake them or we will be up all night. After two bumped heads, grazes and scratches out in the garden we all needed a bit of time out.

Love to all.

ChaCha · 02/04/2008 15:16

OH look it's meeee again!

Quick question pls...

  • DS1 is dressed but does not want to put socks or wellies on or to go to the library. I try hard but he refuses and does a bit of screaming etc but is adamant. I am running out of patience as am getting tired, DS2 is now crying in pram and joining in with the screaming and I feel like giving up and packing the idea of 'out' in. I persevere but end up telling DS1 that he will not come with us and to go up to his bedroom to which he replies 'alright mummy bye'. I end up NOT seeing my threat through (bedroom of course not leaving him alone) and giving him treats to cajole him out the door. Now, what could i have done other than packed the idea in? Are 3yr olds easier than 2? He is suddenly being v.independent...

Will post again later, thanks.

How is Twinkle? Hope you and bump(s)are doing well. Have my consultancy tomorrow to see how everything is and hope they give me a date.

Tried a fantastic recipe for chicken goujouns with chilli and lime - delicious, let me know if anyone wants the recipe, is quick and simple and just yummy. I made a batch minus the chilli for the boys and they also enjoyed. Am off for my sandwich and cherry coke, love x

Hello all! Sorry for short absence - have been quite crazy busy here - Dad & his borthers 65th over Easter - and we hosted a family party (our parties rock!) Then had girls night out on Friday (excellent - lots of dancing and shaking our stuff!) then dh & I went out for nice Italian on Sautrday (only slightly ironically my ex dh was working in the kitchen! So odd as had been joking that I took all my husbands there - just didn't expect them to all be there at the same time!) Anyway, good times had by all...
Diege - can't believe I've missed the time you were in Cov at Warwick Uni - it's only 20-30mins away from me - we could have met up - maybe next time?

Chacha - I too have a very independent 2 year old - "I want choose it Mummy" is an often shouted phrase at our house! As well as I WANT IT I WANT IT....followed by screaming and stamping of feet. When I'm not mega tired or stressed, it is dealt with calmly by me saying quietly That's nice, but it doesn't matter how much you want it, but you can't always have everything you want. or explaining quietly why he needs to put his socks and shoes on (rather than slippers) eg - because we can't go outside to play in bare feet or slippers can we!? No that would be silly (he usually laughs and agrees and then we get somewhere)
BUT when I am v. tired, sometimes I just shout and say Tough luck buster cos you've got no choice - there will only be one winner here....not the best solution I know but sometimes it is so hard isn't it....

Rodeo - fab news on your sponsored child - sounds great.

Chacha - also great news on the scan...and I too echo Rodeo's sentiments - I think you will be a fab mother to all 3 little cherubs - def ignore what anyone else says - what do they know!?

Right off to eat tea now...

x

mypandasgotcrabs · 02/04/2008 20:27

Hiya, I'm afraidI'm in the 'tough luck buster' camp! But tbh, that's all that realy works with my demonic little 2 yr old! Although I did try something new today, and it worked very well. I basically made a deal with him. We were going to the shop & ds2 wanted to walk, I was debating whether to let him, but as we had to go on a main road, and with him walking the 20 mins would have been nearer and hour decided that he would go in pushchair. He stamped his feet with a firm 'No', then I decided to let him walk along the aley when we were on our way back. So I offered him a deal; go in the pushair, and walk back along alley. He said yes, climbed straight in his oushchair, gave me the straps, then held out his hand for me to shake it to concrete the deal! He was good as gold the whole way & loved running home down the alley. Obviously I wouldn't do this for everything, and not on things that I was totally adamant anbout, but I think it's good for us as a halfway point in the right situation. Does that make any sense at all!?

BrownieBells · 02/04/2008 22:04

Totally makes sense to me - and we too have gone down the deal route - on similar "I want to walk" issues - He walks till we get to the "busy road" then goes in pushchair - saying "that's a very busy road Mummy!" Sometimes they are soo lovely and scrummy - who would think when other peoples backs are turned they turn into the spawn of satan! Enough to try the patience of jobe and his brother!

novadandypowder · 03/04/2008 09:33

oh dear, me thinks I give noo a little too much independence. I do actually let her go out in her slippers if she wants to, she chooses what she wears (has been out in pyjamas recently), what she eats, what we play at (most of the time). If she plays up and I use the 'we're going home/we're staying in' threat, I'm afraid I do go through with it and cancel any plans we had. I had to use the 'let's go home' yesterday and it worked - she stayed and played at gymboree, although on a few occasions she has agreed to go home, so I take her home rather than make her be somewhere she doesn't want to be. I'm a big fan of thinking 'does it really matter', as I can't be arsed to do batle with a toddler several times a day. Maybe I'm just a lazy parent, but it works for me

twinkle1 · 03/04/2008 10:07

Morning all,
As for stoppy two year olds I try to be flexible over some things. But others like leaving at the right time to get to school are not optional, so screaming kicking or whatever else he mangaes just get's ignored and he is bodily put in the pushchair!!! As for tea i have a friend who will cook several different meals to keep her kids happy!!! Mine are offered the same thing take it or leave it.The only exceptions are the older two have a couple of things that they really will not eat so i dont make them. However mine will eat pretty much anything and if they dcide they are not eating so be it missing a couple of meals will not kill them.
God i sound really harsh but when you have 3 kids you have to be practical.
All three kids are at the allergy specialist this morning, (block booking) at least its only once every six months
As for the babys they feel huge..... it really is like having a couple of wild ferrets in there I have two app at the hosp next week and another scan.... but im looking foward to seeing them on the scan.
Chacha how are you feeling?????
right must go and get the others from school so we can get to the hospital
Twinkle & ferrets errr bumps

novadandypowder · 04/04/2008 12:43

Twinkle, lol at 'ferrets', now that would be an experience in the delivery room!!

Chacha, I can't believe you've felt some people have been negative about this pg, I think it'll be so lovely to have your three running around. I love it when noo has friends or family over to play (apart from the tidying!!) and if I did pregnancy and babies a bit better then I would love to have more than two. I know noo and miniman adore each other, and I'm sure your lo's will love each other very much. Just think -by now you know everything there is to know about babies, so the next one should be a breeze .

Have had a wonderful riding lesson today, not bad considering I've had a break for sick children & easter. Just need to hope the dancing goes as well when that starts again in a couple of weeks.

love to all mums, babies and bumps

Diege · 04/04/2008 20:17

Hello!! Sorry I've been a bit of a stranger, but that's what 2 weeks of Easter holidays with dds off does to you!
Have had a skim through - interesting to read about everyone's coping strategies with stroppy toddlers. I think I'm like TWINKLE - flexible over the stuff that doesn;t matter so much, but I am very strict on timings etc, and won't bend to L's demands to stay in PJs all day! I think it really is balance between short-term survival and storing up future problems by giving in. I really felt for you CHACHA reading about dd1 - that is exactly what I would have done too, though obvs with hindsight would have taken him screaming!!
NOVA - riding lessons sound great. Is your dancing the pole dancing?
TWINKLE, lol at ferrets - must feel so different to a singletom pregnancy. We must meet up again soon!
BB - I can;t believe I didnlt arrange a meet last week! I remember we said we would when I found out I'd be there. Any news on ttc by the way? . Hi PANDA! Wow, good going on the deal front - could be a case study out of Toddler Taming yuou star mum .
Hopefully pop in over the weekend xxxx

novadandypowder · 05/04/2008 10:00

Diege (and others), I'm curious to know why it would be an issue for L to stay in her pj's all day? Noo doesn't ask to do it all the time, in fact it was only when she was feeling poorly that she did, but seriously why does it matter? I'm happy as long as noo is wearing something out (lordy knows she would be happy to go out naked some days!!) and I don't want to fight about it. Obv I wouldn't let her if it was wet or cold, but at any other time I don't see it as a problem

Diege · 05/04/2008 11:27

Nova, it's not so much the going out in PJs around the village etc, more that I wouldn't like her to be in nursery all day in them when I'm at work. Agree, it's nothing in the great scheme of things, but also wouldn't really like her to go to toddler group etc in them - more for what others might think of me I suppose if I'm honest!

novadandypowder · 05/04/2008 13:30

Thanks for that Diege, I'm really interested in things like this . I also think it must depend on what lo's wear the rest of the time - noo wears long sleeve t-shirts and leggings/sweat pants most of the time so pj's isn't really too much of a diversion from that. In fact she was wearing regular clothes to Gymboree and the leader said 'oh what lovely stripey pj's you've got on today', and on the flip side she has gone to play group and nursery in her pj's and no-one batted an eyelid (well, to my face - I was probably gossiped about later, but I don't give a rats arse!!) I've also let her go to the park and toddler group in her fifi slippers - much to the envy of many other toddlers who came over and tried to touch them! It's interesting that she only wanted to wear slippers and pj's for a couple of weeks and now she's gone back to wanting regular clothes and shoes - the mind of a toddler is a wonderful thing

mypandasgotcrabs · 05/04/2008 19:53

What a day! O loved every minute, and can't wait for the final now. Yes, I paid a lot for them, and will probably be paying even more for the final tickets, but boy was it worth it!

BrownieBells · 05/04/2008 21:04

Glad you enjoyed it Panda - can't say I'm at all intersted in football myself, but appreciate that it must have been a really big deal for you guys

Diege - ttc - well, it's sort of started, but not really in mega earnest or anything, but wills ee how it goes. Ref meet up - am sure you'll be in this neck of the woods again at some point, for a conference or something!?

Nova - I agree, going out in pj's def a no-no in wet or freezing weather, however if it is warm, then guess it wouldn't make much difference, although not sure I would send him to nursery in them Having said that, did contemplate sending im in his Noddy PJs for world book day - so am clearly a big hypocrite!!

DH has gone out tonight, so I am drinking wine and trawling the internet - always a dangerous thing! Have been randomly bidding on stuff on ebay - not least for a Quinny Zapp (don't ask, no idea why i want/need one - just seemed like a good idea - bet I win them both now!)

B
x

Diege · 05/04/2008 21:55

LOL BB, E-bay [sods]law states that that which was a rash impluse bid will invaribly end up as won .
PANDA, glad you enjoyed the footie. Again, not a fan here, but know how exciting it can be from dh! How long till the final?
LOL at the mind of a toddler NOVA. Remember dd2 went through a stage of refusing to wear trousers (would only wear skirts) which sounds OK until it's time for nursery and no skirts clean etc...strangely enough one phase that has lasted is her revulsion to anything with buttons on , which is bloody annoying! Think there is a special name for the phobia, though I think it's just bloody mindedness more than anything psychological!
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend and the weird weather! Snow and sun here today! Hey not long till then London meet now!!!

mypandasgotcrabs · 06/04/2008 08:31

It's snowing!!!!!!!!!

Diege · 06/04/2008 12:57

Snow here too Panda!!! dh has taken older dds out to the park tom play. Not so keen myself, hate the stuff! .
Have fun if you're taking the ds's out
