Here we go! (or should I say here wii go!?). I'll try doing a link too...

Incidentally, I had a dream last night that Cerys suddenly learnt how to blow proper raspberries! Don't know where it came from but it could be that she has been trying since she was about 4 weeks old and did it entirely by accident yesterday!

Hopey: Of course you don't sound patronising. I honestly don't think we have the time (or money?) for counselling but I will be putting it to him. We've been together for about 6 1/2 years (married for 3 1/2) so it is a bit disheartening that it's falling apart already (if I'm totally honest it started falling apart before DD1 was born, only months after being married, when he started being really lazy and I was struggling with work and pregnancy )
You're lucky your DH can make you laugh at least!

Canadianmum: I had wanted one of those baby hammocks but couldn't afford it (and, by the sounds of it, am pretty glad I couldn't lol)

dal21 · 29/01/2008 15:16

Kyala - am so sorry to hear about how you are feeling. I havent really got any further advice to give aside from to second Hopeys advice and consider counselling. Failing that - is there any way that you can get some childfree hours and sit down to have a chat on neutral territory. I am always amazed at what can come out when you have a chat like that.

I know you are feeling pretty down - is it a possibility that your DH is feeling down too? A lot of men find this period of readjustment really tough and can close down and not really know how to vent their feelings. So it comes out like this. Does he find the new dynamic difficult to deal with? Does he miss spending time with you? Sorry if it's none of those things but just thought I would try a different angle.

Nettee · 29/01/2008 18:20

Hi everyone - just popping in to say hello as I met some of you on another thread yesterday who reminded me I have not been here for ages. Interesting to hear about all the weaning going on. We are putting it off a bit this time round (started DS at 17 weeks to the day) but definately paying for it with more BF and night waking. Might give it another fortnight and then break out the baby rice and fruit purees.

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 29/01/2008 19:00

Hi all,

I just got these texts from kinki:

'OH my god!!! You'll never believe it. They pulled an inch long plastic stud out of my lung!!! Feel battered and bruised but otherwise ok. Managed it without sedation, just about! Just got home.'

'Hopefully probs all over now. They said it'll be a while to get over the bugs & I'll need another bronchoscopy. No sedation means I can feed Liam '

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!! Brilliant news isn't it!

Arbensmum · 29/01/2008 19:05

Thats great news, send her my best wishes and speedy recovery I cant believe what was in the lung, now wonder there were so many probs with the chest x

dal21 · 29/01/2008 19:26

Lummey! Great news. send her our best!
xx

MrsFish · 29/01/2008 20:09

Great news

PurpleLostPrincess · 29/01/2008 20:58

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! What a relief that its all over and soooo pleased for you kinki that you were right all along. (in the right way of course)! that you've had to go through all of this but now the end is in sight and thats brilliant that you can feed Liam Phew!

Hiya nettee! How are you doing? Lovely to see you!

Have managed to get all the videos loaded on so have a poke around on here: Videos

Also, here's the updated version of the photo diary (new stuff in the 3+months folder); the password is 'purpl3' Photo Diary

kyala, I echo what the others have said in that you can talk to us about it all and you know we'll support you in whatever you want to do. I had a nightmare marriage with my xh but because he was abusive it made the decision much easier when it came to it. I do remember 8 years of him being very lazy and leading separate lives - I particularly remember feeling like a single parent even though we were married . I guess I'm just saying I know where you're coming from and so much of what you say brings back memories - you share away and we'll listen. I don't know about anybody else, but I still walk around with a muslin on my shoulder so its ready for any tears you might wish to shed ((hugs))xx

Hope the link works!

Oh and by the way, hopey, that person on ebay is called ryansmummy08 in case you come across her. If the bumbo doesn't arrive by Friday I'm thinking of reporting her but I do feel a bit of a fool for going along with it in the first place d'oh!

cor, just about to catch up on the news but had to say you poor thing Kinki... get well soon! xx

kinki · 29/01/2008 22:17

Thanks Hopey. As Hopey said they found something in my lung. It's a little plastic stud/screw, the sort of thing that holds car interiors onto the doors. But I think it came from a car table we have. Ds2 was given it for xmas 2006, but we had to order some more screws for it. They sent us too many and for some reason one must have been in my coat pocket on 9th Jan last year. Then it found its way into the mouthpiece of my inhaler and then I inhaled it. For 385 days I've been saying I inhaled something, but all the doctors have been saying that is improbable. After endless chest infections, 2 bouts of pneumonia, 10 months of steroids, 16 courses of ab's, a year of being short of breath and shattered they finally do the bronchoscopy. And that's only because I told them about my mum and nana dying of lung cancer at a young age. I wasn't bothered why they were doing it, just glad it was getting done, though in the last week I'd convinced myself I'd got cancer too.

And then within a minute of starting they were saying there's something there. I was able to see the screen and all I could think of was 'I told you so'. There was a bit of a dodgy moment getting it out. The scope goes up your nose then down the back of your throat. He used some forceps to grab the screw and started to pull it up. He soon realised it was too big to go through my nose so he 'dropped' it in the back of my mouth. But then we lost it. My throat/mouth was numbed so I couldn't feel it. For a very dodgy moment I thought I'd swallowed it, so after putting up with it in my lungs for a year I thought I'd now have to spend the next few days searching for it in my poo!!! But eventually a big cough and retch soon had it flying out of my mouth. Talk about relief. All the doctors were amazed that I'd had that in me for so long and still able function. Part of my lung beyond it was collapsed, but it inflated within minutes of it's removal, that was a weird sensation. I then had to go through it a second time while he checked for damage. There is an area that doesn't look great, so the dr said I might have to have another scope in 2-3mths to see if it heals. Oh and I feel proud of myself because I went through all that (twice) without sedation. Which means I can feed Liam afterall.

All's well that ends well, so they say. I'm still in shock about it all tbh. Two friends are telling me I've probably got a good case to sue them, but I'm not sure. Tomorrow I'll try to scan in some pictures of the screw. Thank you all for your support, you're all wonderful buddies.

sophus · 29/01/2008 22:52

amazing story kinki, so glad it turned out the way it did. you should certainly seek some sort of restitution from your drs.
please (try) and take it easy for a while and give your body a chance to heal itself.
maybe time for a delayed "babymoon"?
this week is just bonkers, i'm exhausted and its only tuesday.
linus is a real thumb sucker, but his thumb is sore at the moment so he can't suck it properly so finds napping and getting back to sleep a problem. I use a dummy on such occasions which helps comfort him and also gives his thumb a break. unfortunately..... I didn't realise it was a sore-thumb day when I left him with my best friend this morning when I went riding. he screamed her house down for 45 minutes.

oops.

she almost threw him back at me when I got back. think linus owes her a big box of chocolates. soon as he saw me he smiled and was laughing. she couldn't believe the scream he has on him. makes you feel as if he is being tortured. she laughed about it afterwards and said she was looking forward to me handling the toddler years.

dal21 · 30/01/2008 06:25

Kink - that is unbelievable! well done you for not having sedation and also for sticking to your guns. I am with your friend on this one and think you have a case.
What did the docs say? Did they look a little shamefaced?

Arbensmum · 30/01/2008 09:34

Kinki - glad you are home and everything went 'well'. Also fab you managed without sedation so you could feed Liam, well done you x
PLP - Cerys is gorgeous, she is big, chubbly long legs i am also loving her hair, she has so much!!

PurpleLostPrincess · 30/01/2008 10:18

Sorry just have to let you know that the Bumbo arrived this morning - phew! I totally take back everything I said, its brilliant! Just waiting for Cerys to wake up so we can try it then I'm off to my parents for the day.

(A valuable lesson learnt there though!).

Seeyah, hope you all have good days xx

kyala · 30/01/2008 14:57

Dal: you're probably right and he's feeling down (he does suffer from depression) but he's just being totally selfish, which doesn't usually enter into his mood routine (the laziness is normal but not quite this extent)
Anywho, he finally expressed a little feeling last night and mentioned that he wants to help out but he just doesn't want to do the night feed (umm does he think that I do?! ) but he then offered to do the feed last night which was great! But, typical, Lucy slept right through! Methinks they be in cahoots!!

YIPPPEEEE Well done Kinki Glad they finally got to the route of the problem, and without sedation that's brilliant news! Hopefully that'll be a big break in things for you! I agree with your friends, you've been through so much all because they wouldn't listen, it would teach them a valuable lesson!

Hello Nettee welcome back

PLP: It's amazing, I've been thinking a lot recently that I do feel like a single parent (only that I have an extra load of cleaning and cooking to do) but he's never been abusive in a physical sense (he does make me feel stupid a lot of the time and any ideas/interests I have are just silly) so I don't feel like he's actually a bad person or anything just being lazy and a bit selfish of late which is worse now because it's just totally the wrong time for him to be doing this
Glad the bumbo arrived

Well, today was tot's group and DD1 insisted on going, despite the hefty goo excreting from her nasal passages (ukhh children!) so we did that and she then refused a nap when we got home so she's been up since half 7 this morning she should be totally zonked but she's now happily watching Beebies! children don't half pick their moments!
I am very proud of myself for walking the whole way to tot's group and not being too out of breath when we got there, and then all the way back too!
Righty off for now, see you all again later!

kinki · 30/01/2008 14:58

Just uploaded a couple of pictures. Top one is of the screw in my lung, tip facing upwards to the camera. Next one is after it came out. (Sorry, I'm probably getting a bit boring now )

HammerHeadShark · 30/01/2008 17:42

Kinki - OMG that is an evil looking jaggedy screw - I can't believe that you managed to function with it sitting in your lung for a whole year either - you are very hard! And to have a bronchoscopy without sedation - you are double hard Seriously, sorry you had to go through such a nightmare year with so many health problems, wish someone had just listened to you. Hope you start to feel much better very soon. xx

PLP - hope Cerys enjoying her purple bumbo!

Kyala - sorry you are having such a hard time with your DH at the moment, is it worth listing his good points - I have to do this with my DH sometimes when he makes me . I think its really hard for partners/husbands to really know how exhausting and draining it is to be at home with small children day in day out. Their work is recognised, rewarded financially and has a beginning and an end - DH was shocked when I went back to work when the DTs were six months and he (finally) agreed childcare was much harder than working 12 hour shifts on the intensive care unit where we both work! Are there any more opportunities for you to leave the DCs with him and go off for some you time and hopefully make him appreciate how much hard work littlies are?

Can hear suspicious noises in kitchen where girls are supposed to be eating their tea quietly - must investigate.

Oh and its our 4th Wedding Anniversary today - what is that paper, lard, wood, turd? DH "forgot" and swapped his shifts to work today. I have got him a card but confess i have written the word 'pig' (jokingly-ish) inside!

kyala · 30/01/2008 21:38

WOW Kinki that looks killer! Loads of detail in that pic you can tell it was from a kids toy!
Lol @ the hairy hand holding your LO

HHS: I giggled at your anniversary remarks, that's genius!
I know he doesn't understand and all that and one day of being with the girl's would not be enough to make him see as he'd only take them to his parent's and sit back and let them do the running round anyway so it's just a case of sticking with it and eventually getting though this time of bleakness I guess. I'm slowly coming round it I guess it's a touch of depression and boredom and it gets to me sometimes, just knowing that, at the end of the day he obviously thinks I'm sat on my arse doing nothing cos he comes home and sits on the sofa and that's it, only helping if I ask him firmly enough to get him off his bum!

Righty ho, I'm feeling hefty (DH brought home tiramisu, after I told him to bring home something nice and low fat, he doesn't even like tiramisu, he's doing it on purpose!!) now then onto the box of forrero rocher!

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 31/01/2008 09:26

Morning all

I'm going to jump straight in here this morning with a me post.

Help... advise needed!

I noticed last night that there is a lump in my groin on the left hand side, it's about 1cm across, it's well beneath the surface and if I dig in I can pinch it and it feels like a small ball, if that makes sense. I'm a bit concerned it's a swollen lymph node. I'm trying not to panic about the it!! I am absolutely FULL of a cold right now, could that be causing it?

Arbensmum · 31/01/2008 09:30

It may well be Hopey but go yo GP just to put your mind at ease

amyclaramum · 31/01/2008 09:35

Kinki - OMG !! I can't believe you have been walking around with that thing in your lung ! I think you should definitely sue anyone in sight for compensation ! Also I expect to see you on the sofa with Fern and Phil any day now with a close up of the aforementioned plastic screw !! Take care and hope you are feeling much better today !

Kyala - I know how you are feeling and don't really have any advice - just hang on in there and try to get some time for yourself and maybe get a babysitter one evening so you can go out with your DH and talk .

amyclaramum · 31/01/2008 09:37

  • Hopey - i agree go to the GP just to put your mind at rest !
Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 31/01/2008 09:54

Think I may give my GP a ring, he's lovely and may be able to reassure me over the phone.

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 31/01/2008 10:03

I've just spoken to my GP and he said it's very likely that the two are connected. He said when you have a cold virus on board the lymph nodes anywhere in the body can swell up. He's told me that it can take a few weeks for it to go down, but if it doesn't or if I notice any more coming up, I'm to go and see him.

Arbensmum · 31/01/2008 10:06

Any other probs, is it sore/painful to pee etc?
