evening

i'm having my new years eve drinks tonight

MIL's went well, ds was a smiler as usual dd was ok, went to sleep whilst cuddling dh at about 8-8.30. ds settled a bit later so had a quiet night. MIL & step-FIL told us not to bother waking them to take them hom so we collected them about midday BUT dd had got MIL up at 5.30 after they went to bed about 4 DD was a PITA all day as she was overtired before goign to sleep last night so the early start did no good. She wouldn't go for a sleep either. Such a shame as dh wanted to take her to see a film Maybe at the weekend.

I have begun the christmas decoration take down. Only the tree and a few bits on the ceiling left

i'm looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow. not sure SIL is as she has her 2 and my 2 dc's all pm, eek! Hope dd's in a better mood

CaptainDippy · 01/01/2008 20:57

Let's hope she has a nice, long settled sleep tonight then, Eddas!

Phew - after much drama all three girls (& P, in other room) are settled so off to watch a DVD with DH and stuff ourselves with Malteasers - yum!

Car looks good, Pillock - are you going to see tcmummy when you pick it up!!?

Bye all. xx

fpesha · 01/01/2008 21:12

Pinions - They are NOT toddlers they are BABIES!! I refuse to think of d as a toddler, probably ever! After the exhausting whirlwind that was Nathan as a toddler I am slightly terrified of what D may become Although finding reassurance in the fact that n was practically walking at this age and into everything and D is still pretty calm in comparison - PLEASE let it contunue!!

Went to see Jack and the Beanstalk at the Octagon today. Was actually very funny. Dc loved it and even D seemed to enjoy it, he was shouting when everyone was booing/cheering and he was even clapping Was very cute! Its things like this that help reassure me he wont be another Nathan. Although N was physically on the go from the moment he was born very young he didnt do things like clapping, waving and talking till quite late whereas D seems to be the opposite and I think good communicators make much easier toddlers - Noone spoil my delusion if they know better please!

Not that I dont totally adore Nathan but 1 is enough!!

elkiedee · 01/01/2008 21:23

Hi to everyone, glad to hear several of you managed to have fun NYEs - you deserve it. I enjoyed the night here more than I expected. This year didn't get off to such a great start though, huge row in the middle of the night, sort of made up but then dp was clearly still angry this morning and kept snapping at me. Think things are a bit better now.

On the nicer side, mum visited us this afternoon and had brought down everything we'd forgotten like the crime novel I'm currently reading, and everything we'd left behind - some of our more awkward pressies for example.

And we even managed to get the floors downstairs vaguely clean before she came - poor D was kept cooped up in his highchair because we can't really childproof the house very well and he's getting very mobile. He's already trying to pull himself to standing on everything available.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 01/01/2008 21:24

I would, if I could track her down!

sent her a text and got no reply, she's not been here for a while, and she's not my friend on facebook because she's worried that her rl friends might find out she is friends with a bunch of internet weirdos lovelies and be scared for her safety jealous

Why can't someone come down and live near me??? so its ok for holidays then

I think (but not sure) but I am going back to work to pay for childcare. But ds1 has thrived at nursery and I need escapism of adulthood (and not having to share my lunch and it would be nice to shut the toilet door )

They are all going for 2.5 days a week starting 2 April (I can't wait!!!!!!!)

so runny your are normal in my book

elkiedee · 01/01/2008 21:33

I'm looking forward to going back to work with just one baby so I can totally understand how those of you with 2/3 feel. I'm sure I'll miss Danny - my mum asked about how I'd settle him in with his childminder and I burst into tears. But others cared for me while my mum studied and worked and my brother and sister while she went to work, we all survived.

Sexonlegs · 01/01/2008 21:42

Oh Oooggs, one day me and dh would love to move down to Devon, so a bit nearer! I lived in Exmouth for 10 years, so really miss being 5 mins from the beach.

Elkie, hope you and dp are ok now

Eddas, hope dc's are good tomorrow

Pesha, I still think of K very much as a baby. She is so small imo and not v mobile at all! She is so entertaining tho!

Eddas · 01/01/2008 21:42

i couldn't stay at home all day everyday. It was sending me potty! totally agree with having lunch on your own and peeing with the door shut I feel liek an adult again Mind you it's not quite the same doing afternoons only as I don't get my lunchbreak to do little bits like read a magazine. I just need to get used to it. I know i've been back at work for over a month but it's all been up in the air because of the car accident. I don't feel like i've settled in at all yet. Fingers crossed next week will be the first 'normal' week

Oooggs you should move nearer

Sexonlegs · 01/01/2008 21:49

Meant to say I echo others re work. I love having time to be me and talk shop as opposed to Play Dough. Each to their own, but I love it and also feel certainly that B gained so many social skills by being at nursery from early on. I am hoping K will benefit too.

Off to eat yet another Flake and then to bed, so see you tomorrow at some point.

Night loves. xx

Eddas · 01/01/2008 21:50

ooo I just ate a flake

cazboldy · 01/01/2008 21:53

so did I!

cazboldy · 01/01/2008 21:54

I pinched it out of caitlin's selection box, and justified it by telling myself that I was saving her making a mess with it!

Eddas · 01/01/2008 21:56

tutt tutt caz

I got mine from............................................................................

dd's selection box but to be fair she is 3 and won't eat a flake or the crunchie that has also been eaten

geordiemacminxpie · 01/01/2008 21:56

Evening Ladies

Nothing to report here!

POTC - Well done for cleaning/sorting out your house. When Jake, Izzy and I were at my mums the other day, DH and DSDs tidyed and cleaned the downstairs of the house Just the upstairs to go!

As for eating the children's sweets/chocolate, I've only eaten a few of J's sweets

Dippy - Glad they've all settled now! Hope P is ok.

Hi Pinions

Pesha - Bless D [awwwwwwwwwwwwwww]

Elkie - Sorry about your row, glad it's sorted now!

Oooggs - How are you today, has the pain eased off? Still thinking of you.

Good on you going back to work, I firmly believe mummys need some them time. I'm finding it hard with Izzy atm as she comes just about everywhere with me. Was hoping she would go to my Mums overnight soon (as Jake does) but when we tried that just before Christmas, she had to be brought back at 3am. To be fair she was ill, but I think it's not going to work on a regular basis til I stop bf and I don't think i'm ready to stop yet.

Sorry turned into a bit of a rant

StealthPolarBear · 01/01/2008 22:41

hi everyone
runny at your MIL
POTC well done for getting the house sorted! I cleaned the bath the other day and eas embarrassed to realised the 'scuff marks' I had told DH and mum were permanent actually came off with a tiny bit of elbow grease
Well we have decided to leave T with mum when we go to this wedding in Cornwall (and also one in Kent a couple of months before). Bit and scared but will be easier and better for him than huge journies and boring ceremonies.

weeonion · 01/01/2008 22:48

i have just been through C's wardrobes and putting away her new xmas gift clothes. i have just sorted 3 black bin bags that is now too wee for her and the space that created is now filled!!!!!!
back to start on toys now.

she is 8 mths for god sake!
