Second hand smoke and SID

In my mind it was pretty common knowledge that someone should be holding a new born after they have a smoke - I think the guidelines say 30mins and to remove smoking jackets?

I mentioned something about this to some family last night over dinner and they looked at me like I was crazy and going to be “one of those” mums”. They so easily dismissed the information about SIDS.

Not sure what I’m hoping for here, maybe reassurance that I’m not being a pain in the arse/ unreasonable/ crazy?

No you're not, i wouldn't want someone that has just smoked or really smells of it holding my baby.

No you’re not crazy and this has been the advice for years. My DC is 10 and this wasn’t new advice then! I remember telling my uncle that if he wanted to hold my baby he needed to change his clothes first.
