Hi, my 3 weeks old DD is formula fed and doesn't seem to have any schedule or pattern of feeding. Some time of the day she is feeding every hour n a half, sometimes 2 hours and once a day goes 3 hours between the feeds. We makes her 4 oz but she takes in random amounts , sometimes 1.5oz , sometimes 2 or 3 , and rarely (once a day) a full 4 oz. her overall intake in a day seems okay for her weight though . She takes 22 to 25 oz (700-750ml) day and she is 3.5 kg. Her feeding pattern is giving me almost sleepless nights. Anyone in the same boat or any tips? Thanks

Hello! Is this your first? Honestly I think they just take what they need this early on- I stressed about getting my first child on a routine, and it did happen naturally once he got a bit bigger. It’s still just the beginning and prob ties into how they’ve slept so please don’t stress if their overall intake is fine :)
I’m on my second - just a few days behind you and he ranges between 1 and 4 oz, usually at night 2-3 hrs and in the day 1-2 hrs (unless he’s had a mega nap).

So what I’m trying to say is I think she is fine looking at the overall, you will get longer gaps with more milk taken in time x

Hi @mahwish88 my baby is 2 weeks old but sounds like an identical random feeding schedule. He is slightly heavier at 3.8kg too. Like previous poster said, go by her lead as she is taking what she needs. I agree it is hard on your sleep tho, hopefully won't be too long til they stretch it out a bit.

Thanks a lot! Yes she is my first one :) It gives me a bit of relief to know that it's not something that I may be doing wrong. It's just that you hear about other babies taking feeds at regular intervals and you worry if you got it wrong somehow Blush
