Muppet ? v excited that you are gonna be a godmother ? I?m going to be one for my nephew in feb
Anyasmum ? what great news about Anya?s measurements ? bet you are really chuffed
Nellie ? hope it went ok with DD in cot
Choc ? I gave up trying to find a coat with a hood, and bought a parka coat and a couple of funky caps to wear
J20 ? you must have been v upset to get that news, but I?m sure the visit will go fine, and they will see what a great mum you are
Ejt ? hope the talk goes ok, and that you don?t get an unwanted call afterwards!
Alicet ? grrr about sleepless nights?
Today we haven?t done very much at all! Too wet outside, and too tired ? can feel I have a cold on the way, so I?m trying not to do anything over the weekend. Had a lovely time with our friends last night ? the first time a couple of them had seen DS ? luckily he was very well behaved ? chatty and smiley until 10pm when he went to bed and flaked out straight away

PolarMummy · 19/01/2008 15:45

Hi folks just a quick post as I am trying to get the house cleaned and tidied for tomorrow!

J20 hope everything goes ok with SS as everyone else has said it is just routine, to help you not worry about it as much you could turn it round and think of it more that someone else (other than you) cares for Shannon enough to check up on her.

ejt hope you have had a nice time chilling on the sofa, do you have caller id? if so just screen your calls and don't answer the phone if your MIL calls. My sister says that when your phone rings it is only an invitation to talk and you don't have to accept it Thinking of you whatever happens.

Alice and FT I just dont know how you cope with so little sleep! Hope you get a better nights slep tonight.

Anyasmum so pleased for you about Anyas latest appointment and glad that you had such a nice night with DH

Hello to everyone else sorry have to run as miss Zoe is waking and due a feed.

AnyasMum07 · 19/01/2008 17:33

Muppet - again, I am truly impressed by your domestic goddessness. I could happily put up with very hideous teatowels before even contemplating making my own .

J2O - poor thing with your tooth - must be painful. You must not worry about social services - it's a formality only. They'll probably know as soon as they walk in that there's nothing for them to worry about - they're not looking for something to be wrong. They must make hundreds of similar visits a week to people who have taken kids to A&E and only a tiny percentage will be abuse cases.

ejt - enjoy your lazy afternoon!

Having a nice day so far - went to garden centre this morning (postponed from last weekend) - managed not to buy anything but had lovely cake and coffee instead. Even had a soak in the bath this afternoon while dd napped . Anya is refusing to sleep now though, she's only had a couple of hours nap in total today and she's crying because she's overtired, but won't sleep - all our usual tricks to get her to nap are failing miserably. Very frustrating! At least dh is still in a good mood - it's amazing the difference the visit to the consultant made.

AnyasMum07 · 19/01/2008 17:38

Nearly forgot - on subject of baby books, did anybody see this in the Times last Sunday?

women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/families/article3150300.ece

ChocolateHobnob · 19/01/2008 17:58

Hi all

Hugs to J20 - I can see why they do this and I can see why you're upset. Just remember as Floria said a negligent or harmful parent wouldnt have gone to A and E and they will know that; they're just ticking boxes and checking things.

Anyasmum, glad you had a good day today and sorry Anya wont nap - Rebecca is often like that and the only solution is taking her for a walk or a drive...

Alicet, Floria, the good sleeping seemed to be a one-off - it was crap again last night - so we shall see how tonight goes! I spoke too soon...
Muppet - how do you get Henry to go all that time asleep and not needing feeding? Wow.

Ejt, hope she doesnt ring and hope the talk goes okay!

We've had a nice day - been to Borders and Mothercare this morning, out for lunch and then to some friends. Am tired again; the one night of decent sleep on Thurs doesnt seem to have helped! Oh well.

As for the wine thing, if I didnt drink at home I'd never drink since I cant go out with a daughter who takes forever to go to sleep and needs me there! And wine does help me unwind. I don't really care about the calories, and since I'm bf I'm not drinking loads anyway...

Have a good night!

TheLadyEvenStar · 19/01/2008 19:08

if anyone wants a copy of baby einstien dvds or cds let me know...i have them.

xxx I have found they help zachary relax big time xxxx

muppetgirl · 19/01/2008 21:27

Hi all,

Have just finished 6 tea towels and 6 napkins. Might make some oven gloves but need a pattern I think! I have lots of fabric and I found some nice Laura Ashley green gingham so I've made them out of that as it's very thick. I might do a blind as well...

J20 -Try not to worry ( I know you will) I'm sure it is just procedure. When they meet you and see you with Shannon they will see that all is okay

Anyasmum - I LOVE making things. (and I can be a little anal about very inconsequential things ) I get a real satisfaction out of it. My next project is to do as sampler for my Goddaughter (get me!) as I always like to give children presents they can keep/use when they are older. For Oliver we got a pair of silver cufflinks that are plain and for his 21st we will get his initials engraved on them. He can then wear them when he is older and think of us...

Choc - not sure how we got Henry to sleep that long and not entirely sure he should but he really likes sleep and it's the only time he gets remotely crotchety -when he's tired. We swear by the second yawn...he's in bed asap after the second yawn has happened, but that's H and cue other lo's may not have that sleep cue.

We went to soft play today and it was so NOISY as it was packed due to the weather. Ollie met up with a boy from nursery and was so excited. We then had to go and get his feet measured and he's grown a size (8-9) so we had to buy new everything. School want a pair of trainers, plimsoles and black school shoes and the trainers/plimsoles have to stay at school. He needs a pair of home schoes also so it was pretty expensive

We came home and ate the chocy mouse I'd made (I've sorted it out now as I used to make it and it started to look like dog poo but I've found the lower the cocoa solids the better it looked and tasted!) Ollie was then on a sugar high but at least he still went to bed at 7.

Am very tired after late night last night so will be going to bed shortly!

Night all
Emma

clu · 19/01/2008 22:18

J20 - Hugs, thats upsetting youve been trapped in the system, all will be fine just something you have to get out the way so they can tick their box.

Muppet - I can feel the creative juices coming from you well done! Im envious.
hello everyone else.

My perfect dd who was going to bed at 10- 8 and waking occassionally for little feeds, harldy cries during the day, showed me who's boss and has had the most awful 24 hours. Whined and cried endlessly even when feeding, will sleep for 10 mins at a time. . She seems ok temperature wise and her poos have been normal, just having an off day.

Im taking her to Ireland to MIL, ALONE for a week. Bit worried about the logistics on the plane, not a long flight but taking the car seat and the pram. And aer lingus are very tight about baggage etc. Suppose then it puts me off worrying about spending time with his family which I am very nervous about.

hope you are all having lovely weekends

MrsFish · 20/01/2008 00:32

Oh dear, I don't know what's happening to my nice ordered life with Ben, not only has he started waking at 4am for a feed again, he has just woken up at 11.50 screaming blue murder and he has just had another bottle. That makes 39oz today since his 4am feed I think it is time to start weaning. I miss my 12 hours between feeds He is lying on the sofa smiling at me now, sooo cute, right time for bed... again, I hope he doesn't wake at 4am again aswell

MrsFish · 20/01/2008 07:47

Well he did, 4.20am I ended up feeding him at 5am after failing to get him back to sleep.

WinnieThePooh · 20/01/2008 08:34

Morning all,

Shula was asleep by 9.50 last night and is still asleep.

DD1 went to her swimming lessons yesterday (inlaws paid for hem for her Christmas) and FIL is taking her again today to make sure that what she learnt is properly absorbed. I am going to take Shula as well.

Shula does not sleep much during the day, but I don't mind as she lets me get a good nights sleep

J2O- try not to worry about SS, as everyone has said you are a good mother and they will see that when they visit you.

I can't remember what everyone else has said.

Have a good Sunday.

muppetgirl · 20/01/2008 09:54

Hi all

Henry slept till 9am with a dream feed at 10, stirred at 4am but went back to sleep and a boob at 6.20am. Good boy H!

Oliver on the other hand is back to 5.20am bouncing on his bed, jumping off and going into Henr'ys roomand waking him up. We've said no telly or treats today (no pastry after swimming mummy????? ) Ahain, Henry wasn't that hungry when he got out of bed at 9am -2ozs. Not sure what to do as I can't force him to eat. Will check his weight on the scales today -roughly and see how his weight's doing.

Off now to walk up the gym -Dh gone already as Oliver is having a 'non-treat' swimming lesson. I though I'd walk to get a bit of exercise it's about 1-2 miles. Better than noting I suppose

Speak later, hope the weather's not to fouls
Emma

muppetgirl · 20/01/2008 09:55

...awful spelling/grammar sorry!

AnyasMum07 · 20/01/2008 11:14

LES - yes, am interested in baby einstein CDs/DVDs - which ones do you have? How much do you want for them?

Muppet - love the cufflinks idea. Mmmm at chocolate mousse - friend of mine made them once and they looked like cow pats. Still tasted nice though

clu - good luck with the flight etc to Ireland, I'm sure you'll be fine. When you going?

Anya slept all night thank goodness - as she wouldn't nap yesterday, thought she might not sleep at night either, but all was well. She's being a bit cranky this morning though. Maybe she's got the sore throat I had yesterday?

Pouring with rain here - too wet to even walk to the shops without getting soaked . Hope everyone having a good Sunday.

TheLadyEvenStar · 20/01/2008 12:01

anya, just send me some blank discs lol and p+p n i will do them 4 u

clu · 20/01/2008 14:40

LES - which ones do you find are the best? dont really know much about them.

Mine · 20/01/2008 16:37

happy sunday all !
Muppet - how do you find time to do all the domestic goddess stuff! I'm rubbish at making things i can;t eat

Just booked summer holiday... ds will be 8 months by then... first holiday with a baby, so not sure how thats going to go. Although we're going all inclusive, i'm bound to take too much/not enough for him.

Scary....

muppetgirl · 20/01/2008 19:07

Mine - you are braver than us! We've not actually done a family hoilday and Oliver is nearly 4! We've only done 2 stay overs in a hotel so well done you for being so brave.

Just put the boys to bed and are looking at my 'bombs hit it' house. Where to start...?

Oliver has filled the toilet in the bathroom with toilet paper and it has soaked and if I flush it it will block the bowl so I am going to have to get my hand down there he was trying to wipe his bottom and he said he couldn't get it clean so I can't really tell him off. He is desperate to be a big boy

I decieded to walk to the gym today which I thought was a really good idea. Dh and Ollie left early to go to his swimming lesson and I said I'd walk and join them. I didn't realise it was a 40 min walk and that half of it was uphill. Only a slight hill but when you push a pram it seems harder than it is iyswim (or is that just me as I'm so unfit?) I walked into the gym sweating and panting you'd think I'd run 5 miles!!! I had to keep wiping my face with a wetwipe as I was so hot!

Hope you all had a good day
Emma

Mine · 20/01/2008 22:32

hhmmm not sure now if it was wise to book the holiday so soon, not knowing what kind of baby he will be by then....... will just have to be uber prepared!!

welldone muppetgirl for getting out for some fresh air... i really need to take my little mite out for more local walks, but there is just not many places to walk in my area other than up and down other residential areas..... not much scenery iykwim.

Had a little winge at dh today about pulling his weight around the house a bit more... i know he works etc and that he gets tired, but not sure he realises that my day starts and ends when ds wakes in the morning and goes to sleep at night..... i'm running around like blue arsed fly all day making sure baby is clean, happy and fed, house is clean, dinner is cooked and prove that i can do it all... all on top of trying to lose baby weight

He felt really guilty. He was fab super dad when ds when born, first 6 weeks we shared all the chores but now that i've got ds in a semi routine and look like i'm doing ok, i still don;t get one minute to myself, its starting to get me down.
I don;t expect a medal, but some kind of shared responsibility would be nice.
I'm not saying he doesn't appreciate everything i do, its just that i don't think he gets that action speaks loader than words..... pick up after yourself, not just apologies and promise 'I'll do it next time'!
OK rant over... feel much better now

muppetgirl · 21/01/2008 08:01

Mine - we've had a little conversation like that. I know it's 'my job' to sort out the kids and do the house but it's just so bloody boring and monotonous! The house ia tidy during the week (when dh is at work) but at the weekends it just gets messier and messier and I get quite stressed knowing mon morning all I do is clean the house from the weekend! I need to get into the spare room to sort out Oliver's old clothes for Henry but never seem to have the time as I'm hoovering (we have 2 dogs so I have to hoover otherwise we all sink in a sea of dog hair!) or tidying or doing washing etc.

I wish we had a minimalist house

Oliver was his usual self this morning. He was up later 6.30 ish but he still went into Henry's room and turned his mobile on errrrraaaagggghhhhh!!!!! I told dh to go and 'sort him out' as I was getting itchy hand and might smack him which would reslut in total meltdown of the house with dh walking out shortyl to go to work leaving me with the debris. He's much calmer than me Still, at least there was not bouncing on the bed...

We are clkeaning this morning and then this afternoon we are going out and about doing jobs. Ollie might have a new friend round to play which would be great for him.

Dh and I are are having the 'shall we move?' talk as we both like where we are but the house has no character at all (I love houses to be virtually falling down -dh says I like to 'save' them!) our garden isn't big enough for 2 dogs and 2 boys although we have more than enough space inside. My next ploy is to look around and show him what we could have for the same money...hee hee

Have a good day all
Emma

AnyasMum07 · 21/01/2008 08:32

Mine - ooh summer hols, sounds lovely. Where you off to? Glad you're going to get more help from dh - don't feel like you have to prove you can do everything.

Muppet - at Ollie with his toilet paper. We're going to have to think about either moving or building an extension at some point too - we've got the opposite problem, lots of space outside but only a small house. Ok for dd now, but she's going to need a bigger bedroom when she's a bit older. Need to get back to work and earn some money first though

Off to baby massage this morning - we're doing back massage today, so lo's have to be on their tummies. That's not going to go down well . Then off to dh's other dd's this afternoon - does that abbreviate to dsd?

AnyasMum07 · 21/01/2008 08:33

Nearly forgot - LES which cds/dvds do you have so I know how many blank ones to send?

FloriaTosca · 21/01/2008 12:50

Muppet at Ollies toilet paper. Have you got a spare safety gate to put across Henrys bedroom door to keep Ollie out in the early morning? ...we live in a bungalow but have got one to keep the dog out of Alexs room (not that Alex is sleeping in there yet...just gets popped in while I'm sorting his drawers to get him used to it)but Thane will try to wash Alexs ears through the bars of his cot when my back is turned so we needed a way of teaching him that that room is out of bounds. Just an idea.

Anya loved the Times article

LES; I would be interested too..how many cds? and how much p&p? and where do we send them please?

Well after several bad nights; Fridays 1.5 hours between feeds and 2 parties on Saturday night where he was passed from person to person, kept over stimulated (and I was accused of being over protective!)and wouldn't feed or go to sleep, I went into meltdown.Couldn't stop crying and refused to rejoin the party once I had finally settled him (how could I with panda eyes?!)Dh finally took over a bit yesterday and made me go to bed when alex went to bed last night, and so I got 9pm-2.30, 2.45-5.15,6-7(just a bit disturbed by dh getting up for work but easily bounced in the amby back to sleep)and miracle of miracles 7-9!!! he has never slept past 7.30 before..if it doesnt happen again before he is 2 I dont mind, I sooooo needed that sleep!

started this post 2 hrs ago ..been interrupted by phone calls and feeds...I need lunch, I 'll catch up again later

MrsFish · 21/01/2008 13:00

Morning all...

2 funnies for you, yesterday Sam took himself to the toilet but didn't put the insert on the seat, cue crying, I went in and he had fallen down the loo, holding on for grim death and his feet sticking out the top. He was distraught, I couldn't stop laughing though, I knew it was going to happen at some point He has started to use the potty again a bit now if I can't be with him

Number two, he watched Little Princess yesterday morning and it was the one about her teeth and one falling out. He spent the rest of the day trying to wiggle his tooth and saying 'out, out' so he could get some money

Well Ben woke up at 12.30 and 4.15 am but I didn't go in to him at 12.30 and he went back to sleep, at 4.30 I just nipped in like a ninja and stuck his dummy in and he went back to sleep again until 7.30am I think I was waking him up by going in too soon previously and trying to settle him, after reading a book on sleep for babies and toddlers yesterday I followed their advice and it worked Dh and I couldn't get back to sleep though as we were convinced he was going to wake up again and lay there listening out for him

I am still going to try him with some baby porridge this afternoon though, see how he takes to it

alicet · 21/01/2008 13:08

Yes Floria your Alex trumped my little boy! And at least after that bad night he has improved... Don't know how you and Choc and anyone else who is regularly getting such crap nights copes! I am in pieces after just one! No wonder you had a meltdown! Hope you're better today...

Can't remember who was talking about houses - we're getting an extension. Very expensive to make the jump to 4 bedrooms and keep the garden where we live and it's a great place so we don't want to be so far away. plus decided the 25K ish that it would cost to move is better spent on the extension - if we moved we would be in a worse location and have a bigger mortgage than if we stay put. No brainer me thinks!

Well off to get my lunch too - may be back on later. Dh did accuse me of being addicted on Sat - I guess I am on here a fair bit but I don't think I'm that bad!!!!!
