Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
missbumpy · 15/01/2008 13:18

Hi,
I'm really shocked and upset about it (I'm probably more upset than DD who seems fine today). Basically, the stupid GP was handling her quite roughly and I think he must have pulledher legs too far apart or too roughly when he was checking her hip rotation. It looks like a teeny tear roughly where an episiotomy would be. Having had an episiotomy I really feel for my poor DD because I know how painful it is! It looks like it's healing up ok though.

Don't know if I should report him though as it's possible that it wasn't his fault and it's just one of those random things that would have happened even if he'd been gentle. I wouldn't want to ruin his career. Definitely want to change GP though. I also think it's really crap that it took them until 13wks to sort out jabs and postnatal check. I had to chase them several times.
Sorry I'm a bit behind with what's going on with you all. I'll try to catch up

muppetgirl · 15/01/2008 13:56

Hi all!

Had my six week check today (H is 10 weeks!) and the dr was LOVELY. Young, quite good looking so I was glad he didn't examine me H is fine, the cracking joints thing is fine. His eyes are gunky due to an infection -respiratory -so snot going upwards not outwards! So it's trying to come out of his eyes -eugh! The ducts are blocked also so the eyes can't flush anything away. He actually examined H's eyes -the other dr didn't. He has aural AB's to get rid of the infection. Great, no eye drops these were just making things worse. I have been referred to Gynachologist to have my little 'problems' looked at. Basically I can't feel when I need to go to the loo, feel like the world is going to fall out of my bladder when I run (different to a full bladder feeling and I do do my pelvic floor exercises) and I pass wind through my Vagina (try telling that to a good looking, young Dr!) He seems to think it's all linked some and have referred me to get it checked out.
Booked H in for his jabs -you can't until they've had 6 week check, and they phoned with an app of 2.50 even before I'd got home! So poor H is going to get jabbed on the same days as hip rotations, poor love.

Ejt - Strange coincidence happened today, my friend phoned and asked if I wanted to go to a baby massage class with her on thurs morning! Apparently the lady is still training so I can experinece it and have a chat with her afterwards about it. And it's free as she's training. I am very into Karma and fate -what will be will be etc. Maybe this is meant to be?

Clu - I mix feed Henry as I couldn't fill him up and he wouldn't go longer than 2-3 hrs between feeds. I know this is normal for b/f babies but I couldn't manage Oliver and the house with feeding every 2-3 hrs. I now boob him first thing in the morning -6am ish and then again at 8am ish (little drink before nursery run) so I have given 2 small feeds so I'm not lopsided! I bottle the rest of the day now at least every 3 hrs sometimes 3 1/2. Then boob both sides before bed. I am finding this the best of both worlds as he gets a little breastmilk (and we both love b/f) but he sleeps through the night and others can give him a bottle. Also, when he goes to nursery he is already used to having mainly bottle feeds.

I miss full time b/f as he was great at it and this time round I seemed to be able to b/f in public but he seemed constantly hungry...

Hope you are all well
Emma

missbumpy - your poor dd and you, you defo should commplain, the doctor needs retraining . happens to everyone, he may be a great gp but cant do checks on babies and is maybe a bit too rough.

muppet - me and dd both do love BF and even after formula she likes a wee suckle . I call it her cup of tea. We dont have a any routine but i like the sound of yours. My problem is she only will feed from one side and has always been lazy so will just snack and therefore would never get anywhere cos she would feed every 1 1/2 hours so I try to top up formula but for some reason resist it and peservere getting nowhere fast. Until DP steps in with formula. When she goes to nursery she will be having bottles, and I quite like the sound of your feeding schedule and maybe then we can get in a routine.

Came out the forest and went swimming. It was great, there only one other family in the pool so loads of room. She looked around for ages must've wondered why all these people were in her new huge bath! Then she lay back in the water and i just floated her around. Screamed the place down when I took her out but ho hum.

muppetgirl · 15/01/2008 17:17

Clu - she might not want a bottle from you as she can smell the mummy milk! Henry didn't want to for a while but seems to have got over that now.

Dalrymps · 15/01/2008 17:49

Hey there everyone, just a quicky, yeah clu it is me who mix feeds, seems to be working well at the moment, just so glad he's getting some bm as I almost gave up so feels like a big achievement, also like the flexibility of the bottles too though , glad the swimming went well!
Inzi glad you like the quinny, we think it was a good choice, not just for looks but does everything we want too, thats the thing with buggies, what suits one person might not suit another cause you use them in different ways, a bit like formula and babies really, glad the feeding is going better now you've changed, Aptamil suits our ds too.
Anyway off to pil's, well just waiting for dh and fil to bring the car back cause they had to jump start it and take it for a drive to make sure it's ok as it wouldn't start at first , should be back soon.....
Hi to everyone I haven't mentioned, catch ya soon

If anyone needs or wants nappies or wraps i have lots for sale let me know and as i know all you ladies i will give you a special discount xxxx

Stefka · 15/01/2008 18:59

Why will Dareh not go to sleep in the evening? It's the same every night. He falls asleep at the boob (which works in the day - he stays asleep) and then five minutes later he wakes up crying. He does this routine for about five hours every night.

Evening everyone,

I hope you are all well.

Inzi - what is your DH's tag on COD4. DP is "The Viscount"

Shula is doing really well, she is now rolling on to her side and DD1 said she rolled onto her front the other day, but not sure if I believe that as she has not done it since. Her grip is getting really strong and she now nips me when feeding if I forget to ull my top down. OUCH [GRIN]

I will let DP know. he is playing now.

I am of upstairs at 9 to watch CSI

FloriaTosca · 15/01/2008 20:15

LOL Les!
Stefka; sorry Dareh isnt sleeping, and even more sorry I've got no tips..we have a feed, bath, massage, top up feed and bed routine that works like a charm and he then sleeps about 6 hours..our problem is that he then wants to feed every 2 hours (2am,4am,6am) and doesnt like to stay in bed past the 6am feed

Well last night was not a sucess Mum heard him stirring early (1am) and got him up to try feeding ebm from one of the breastflow bottles he used to take but with an extra hole punched in with a needle, he grinned, laughed and cooed to her...took the teat in him mouth and played with it but barely swallowed 0.5oz so she poured some into the doidy cup which he grabbed with both hands and attempted to pour down himself he then took 30 mins to take a further 1.5oz from the cup in sips, laughing and cooing in between sips...at 1.45 am she gave up and brought him to me...he then emptied both boobs in about 10 mins and fell asleep!!! The only difference was that instead of waking at 4am he waited until 5am but then still wanted top ups at 6am and 7am and 8 am and objected to being in bed after 6.30
I think I'm just going to have to resign myself to sleep deprivation for the forseeable future

here we go again...feeding time!
see u all later I hope

Stefka · 15/01/2008 20:37

He's still not asleep. DH taking a shot. I hate having my tea cold about an hour after I actually want it.

How old is Shula Winnie? Dareh hasn't started any of that yet. What a lovely name btw - what does it mean?

alicet · 15/01/2008 20:45

Hello ladies - sorry not a hope in hell of remembering what you all said! Will do my best...

Missbumpy shocked at your GP!!! Did they notice they had torn the vagina and apologise? I find it hard to think how this could be possible - maybe however if he had a sharp finger nail he might have managed it by accident. I would certianly consider saying something though - even if he wasn't being rough as such and it was a genuine accident he needs to know this happened so he could be more careful next time. And if you think he WAS being rough then def report him.

Dal I have a Quinny Buzz and a Zapp and they are fab!!!!

Muppet baby massage would be a great thing for you to do!

Sorry can't remember much else. Had another bath / bed on my own tonight although dh did turn up when Adam was nearly settled. Then proceeded to put Sam to bed really quickly when I had promised him extra time for being so good and patient!!! I was really pissed off as it really undermined me and will make the next time I have to do this harder. However in his defence I don't think it was deliberate and I think he thought he had taken longer than normal! Oh well - we will have to have a clear chat about how we handle this next time - tried tonight but he was a bit defensive and I was stroppy so will chat nefore next time.

We went to baby massage today with Choc and Rebecca. Lovely as always to see them both.

Anyway off to spend time with dh now as he was away last night too. Will be a bit more back to normal tomorrow so will catch up a bit more then. I really am thinking of you all even if I can't remember all your posts!!!!

WinnieThePooh · 15/01/2008 20:46

Stefka- she will be 14 weeks on Thursday. DP chose the name, he eard it on "The Archers".

In Arabic it means flame.

Also in Hebrew Shulamit means peaceful.

PolarMummy · 15/01/2008 21:40

Ok ok I give up. I just can't seem to keep up with all the posts, I can't remember who else said that all they seem to get time to do is read the posts and then they have to go before they can post but I know what you mean. I haven't read all the posts but just wanted to say Hi

Ess so sorry to hear about the time you have been having I hope yesterday went ok for you, I have been thinking about you.

FT glad saturday night went well work wise but I feel for you that Alex didn't settle while you were away, I had the opposite problem to you a few weeks ago, Zoe would take a bottle but not feed from me. I put her in the position I normally BF her and gave her the bottle for a few minutes, then took the bottle away and latched her on did this a few times trying not to let her get upset and after a while it worked for me. I have heard that the Tommee Tippee bottles are supposed to be good (though I use the Avent ones)

Missbumpy I too am shocked at your GP and I think I would at least say to your practice manager (if you have one) if you don't want to report your GP. I hope your Lo is ok, the jabs are bad enough to get over without this as well.

Winnie I see you are a fellow CSI lover, I am taping it ATM as I am just making sure Zoe is asleep before going down to watch it.

Inzi glad the feeding is going better for you, long may it last.

J20 hope Shannon is ok

Well I am off to the hospital tomorrow to get Zoe's hips checked again, not sure what they will be doing tomorrow as she has already had an ultra sound, hopefully nothing too horrible as I am going on my own!

Will try and catch up properly soon but am very busy as we are getting Zoe Christened on Sunday and then have about 30 people to feed afterwards and that is just close family!!

ChocolateHobnob · 15/01/2008 21:50

Shula is a lovely name!

I can't believe all these gamers online - weird or what that all your DPs might know each other virtually too.

Miss Bumpy, I can't see how the GP managed that - mine, who was lovely, barely touched the vagina and was so gentle.

Alice, I guess DH was just back from a long day and didn't realize. Good that he helps, anyway, and didnt just come home and slump...

Stefka, no sleep suggestions from me! Last night was abysmal - her longest sleep period was 25 minutes. Mostly it was 15. I am a walking zombie today. We have a routine - bath, feed, lullabies, sleep, all in dim room after bath, but it isn't very speedy... However. Today I introduced massage into the routine! I massaged her after her bath and she loved it, and didnt cry when I dressed her which she usually does. I enjoyed it too - I felt v calm when I was feeding her. I've lost the sense of calm now because I anticipate a crap night again, but we've swaddled her again and hope it'll help (we used to swaddle her and stopped... but needs must - we need to find a way of getting more than 30 mins unbroken sleep!). Oh and Floria I feel for you feeding nonstop. Rebecca doesn't sleep but oddly she can go a very long time (7 hours last night) without feeding; when she's awake it isnt because she's hungry.

So I met Alice today and baby massage was great. Adam was so cute! As usual her Hugabub was admired... she really should become a Hugabub pimp...

Hello to everyone I've not spoken to directly and hope your babes are all sleeping soundly! Fingers crossed I get at least an hour of unbroken sleep tonight...!

missbumpy · 15/01/2008 22:11

I don't quite know how he did it either. Basically one minute she was fine, the next minute he was pulling her legs really far apart quite roughly (while she was having a real screaming fit) and then when he spread her labia there was a small amount of blood there (you can imagine how freaked out I was!). The nurse wiped the blood away and it was clear that it was a small tear rather than internal bleeding. The GP couldn't get out of the room fast enough. He seemed a bit shifty about it and the nurse didn't know what to say either.

It's possible it's just one of those weird things but it seems a bit of a coincidence that it happened while he was pulling her legs around quite roughly.

He was just horrible. When she was crying and getting herself in a real state he responded by mimicking her and crying back in her face !

Must find a new GP this week!

BTW, are any of you finding that you're losing loads of hair. I know it's normal post-baby but it's started happening to me and I don't like it! Hair doesn't look any thinner on my head but loads comes out every time I brush/wash my hair

Miss Bumpy ;I dont know how you kept your cool! I freak out when Alex has his injections and want to hit the nurse or doc who hurt him...Reading your account made me feel sick, I think would have thumped him! It sounds like his handling of a small baby was totally and utterly inappropriate, screaming in her face and then not even admitting fault and appologising for harming her... I dread to think how many more he might harm in the same way and I certainly would do as Polar suggested and lodge a formal complaint with the practice manager at the very least..he really shouldnt be allowed to treat children this way ..your poor poor lo .
As to hair loss...oh yes...I'm losing tons, clogging the showers drain! and just at the same time DS has developed cradle cap

Polar; thanks for the advice, we have tried the Tommee Tippee bottles too..and the Avent ones.....I havent tried bottle feeding him myself but anything is worth a go...I'll try your technique in reverse tomorrow.

Well I got my Mirena coil fitted yesterday I was fighting tears the whole time; not because it was particularly painful (though there was a brief moment when I asked why had I told Dh he didnt need to get the snip, I'd have the coil instead) but because this is "it", I can't, as I've been tempted to recently, accidentally "forget" a pill ...so there will definately be no more babies. Alex is so wonderful,he's the sun, moon and stars to me...I could do this again and again to feel the strength and depth and wonder of the love I feel for him...but there isn't one single logical argument for trying for another, only my emotional wants...I'm sure I'll get over it...one day...

Bed calls again. Wishing you all a peaceful night.
