Anybody else's lo crying after bathtime? Anya loves being in the bath but cries when we take her out while she's being dried and dressed. Not sure why this is - change in temp prehaps?

WinnieThePooh · 27/12/2007 09:01

Morning everyone.

Alice your hubby is one in a million, you brought tears to my eyes.

Lauren got up ar 4.45am on Christmas day, but we sent her back o her bed for a bit. When I got up with Shula 30 minutes later she came into our room with her stocking and opend it. She went back to her room at 6.15, but when we woke at 8.a5 she was lying between us.

The inlaws (MIL,FIL,SIL & BIL) and 3 week old nephew arrived at about 11am and lauren started opening her pressies. MIL cooked dinner for us all. Lauren loved all the lego that she got and she loved the fact that daddy and grandad sat and played with her building different things. Shula's favourite pressie is this. She absolutely loves it.

Lauren spent yesterday with her grandparents while we took Shula to friends for a gaming day. Dp is going back up there today, but I am staying at home with the girls. Need to get some washing done (not done any all week an we are starting to run out of clothes. We also need to get Lauren's pressies put away and get her playroom sorted out. We might make some more mince pies as well.

Not sure when I will get on again, si I will wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR just in case I don't get on before then.

MulledwineandJ2O · 27/12/2007 09:52

hi all

Alice-that is so lovely of dh, i bet you're really happy

anya-Shannon does the same thing, she loves her bath, i think she just doesn't like the temp change and getting dressed

thats all i can remember sorry

i've had a quiet xmas, took the 2 girls to my brothers for xmas dinner then took Leonie to her dads at 3pm, went to my friends sisters for a few hourss then have been on my own with Shannon xmas night and all day yesterday, which gave me time to try and sort the milliuons of things each one got! the last 2 nights Shannon has been fed about 8.30 pm, and woke in the night sometime, but i've just given her a cuddle and let her sleep in my bed then she's had another feed at about 7.30, which is great, but i'm worried i'm starving her! the thing is if i feed her at 12 or something, she still wakes up at the same time and she's definately putting on weight so i don't think she's going without, what do you all think?

EmMcK · 27/12/2007 10:06

Anya - Joseph does the same thing. If there was an Olympic time trial for drying/clothing/getting latched on, then I think that we would be medalists! I had thought it might be that he hates being taken out of the bath as much as the temperature change.

Hope you all had lovely Christmas days.

alicet · 27/12/2007 13:08

LES, Winnie and J20 you sound like you had great days! Nice one!

J20 - def don't think you're starving Shannon. Don't believe for a second she would settle so well if she was hungry! Just sounds like after a fairly atrocious start she has learnt to sleep!

Anyasmum, EmMcK and J20 Adam is exactly the same getting out of the bath. So was Sam (in fact he still is!!) After I've dried him I massage him a bit with baby oil which he really likes and this calms him down a bit!

Last night was fab - mum and dad slept in our room with Adam and got both boys up this am - dh and I didn't stir until we heard his parents arriving just before 9.30!!!! Nice one methinks! Anyway, both boys asleep and dh at the gym so off to try and make some calm amid all the chaos of Christmas! Grandparents off home now too. We're off to Ikea this pm to buy even more toy storage too! See you later...

Oh Inzi, man what a shock that must have been. I hope that you are feeling better today. I was wondering when periods might return but if they are that dramatic then I won't wish for it!
Think I must still be raging with post-pregnancy hormones though as a girlfriend rang last night to tell me that she is 12 weeks pregnant and I became totally gushy and then wistful for being pregnant, and then started looking forward to being pregnant again. Am either hormonal or mad
Took Joe to have his eight week jabs today. He wasn't that upset at the time and then slept happily through "I'm not there" at the movies, but is now desperately clingy and crying the poor wee lad. Have Calpol to hand if needed...

Hey all,

I had a nice break. My SIL was fab and looked after us really well so I had a really good break even if Dareh refuses to sleep before 2am! The poor wee might didn't poo for three days but did two massive ones today. Never thought I would be so glad to see poo.

My dad gave us money to get a bouncy chair for him. What would people recommend? Something he can also nap in would be good.

Hope you all had a good Christmas.

ejt1764 · 27/12/2007 21:04

Hi all ... we were singing at the Winter Wonderland in Cardiff today - Rhydian had a wonderful time on the fair, and Mairwen slept through the lot!

Afterwards we went to the Slug and Lettuce for lunch - it was bliss to be able to have a stilton burger without any guilt pangs at all!

Noew very tired - only ventured into Gap to see what their sale stuff was like - it was scary!

Stefka - we have this bouncy chair (or a variation on it) - I invested in a good one this time as they spend so much time in them!

Inzi - I hope the bleeding has setled down now - don't be afraid to go and ask for a second opinion! Glad to hear that Jane was a star for her mammy on Christmas day!

I think you're all mad for wanting another one ... - I have my coil in and that's where it's staying ...

Right, off to demand a shoulder rub from dh - I've tried and tried to buy stuff from the next sale today, but it keeps crashing, so I'm admitting defeat - and have hit vertbaudet instead!

Wish me luck - we're off to face the PiLs on Saturday - dh has vowed to stay with me, and not let MiL get at me with her bitchy comments - if she makes any, I'm leaving ...

,waves frantically. to everybody else!

alicet · 27/12/2007 21:11

I'm with ejt in thinking that you're all mad for wanting another one so soon!!! Wouldn't be without my 2 boys but its BLOODY HARD WORK having 2 under 2!!!! My mirena is staying put too!

Inzi hope the bleeding settles. And the doc was talking out of her arse to say that it won't affect your anaemia. It might not - sometimes the bleeding can look very dframatic but actually you are losing less than you think. But its complete rubbish to say that it WON'T affect it as it might if you really are bleeding very heavily! Second ejt again that if you are worried go get a second opinion. Particularly if your periods are not normally that heavy.

Um - can't remember what everyone else said but hello all! Off to bed soon...

EmMcK · 27/12/2007 21:30

Stefka - I have the same chair that ejt gives you a link too and it is great as it lies really flat. Joe spends most of his day time naps in it, and it is nice and light if you need to move him around the house.
Trust me, I am not planning on anything new baby related anytime soon, but there was a big old rush of baby-love happening.

alicet · 27/12/2007 22:04

Just like to add good luck to ejt for your visit to pil's on Sat!!! Fingers crossed your dh is true to his word and backs you up...

Hope you're feeling better too. You always sound so together and happy in your posts it's hard to tell but I'm thinking of you...

And the rest of you ladies! I think we are all doing a bloody great job - little babies are really hard work. Its starting to get easier al the time now - Adam certainly is more settled and a LOT more responsive which makes all the tough stuff easier to swallow... Fingers crossed the same for the rest of you x

strawberrylace · 27/12/2007 22:27

Hello everyone
Glad to hear you've all had great Christmases - I think we've all deserved them. Fab presents for Alicet and LES - i am quite jealous, but addicted to my nintendo DS, which was an xmas and late b'day present combined. And fab presents for all the LOs as well - Olly had loads of books from his nana (a primary school teacher, so getting him started reading early i think) and rattles from everyone else I think!
Other than opening presents, we have been on a seemingly endless tour of friends and relatives, mainly eating turkey dinners! Olly has been a star, being happily passed round everyone for cuddles and only really grumpy for mummy and daddy at home.
Inzi - hope you are sorted now - sounds a scary time
Ejt - can't believe you have tried to brave the sales - i am tempted but.... good luck for your PIL visit
EmMcK - I do wistfully look at ladies with bumps but am not going there for a while, that's for sure!
Hope the rest of you are all ok...

Stefka · 27/12/2007 23:01

That was one I was looking at actually! I was choosing between that one and the fisher price rain forest one.

TheLadyEvenstar · 28/12/2007 00:21

Hiya folks,

IS ANYONE AND I MEAN ANYONE LOL interested in lo's pram, When i bought it it was a great idea as I was local to school and walked a lot but we moved and dp drives me to and from school daily so the travel system is redundant after 13 weeks. It cost £360 with car seat and I am looking for £200 ono, or part exchange lolol c'mon girls help a LES out, dp getting annoyed with me showing him all these wonderful prams I am in love with. ALSO have lots of cloth nappies up for sale at cheap cheap prices. and 3 bags of clothes ds2 has grown out of ffp. I know dal wants some so what i will do is take pics of them all put them on picture trail and you can all have ya pick lol.

I love my new latop it is sexyyyyyyyyyy lmao ok i am sad!!!!

alicet · 28/12/2007 12:44

LES if I got another pram dh would kill me - we already have a mountain buggy double, a quinny buzz and a quinny zapp! Plus TONNES of clothes as Adam is a second boy! And I'm too lazy to use cloth napies So sorry can't help!

Hello everyone else! We have Adam's second lot of jabs today - wish us luck!

MrsFish · 28/12/2007 14:56

Hello everyone

Inzi - I bet that was a shock! I had my first period since Ben was born... started xmas day (12 weeks after Ben) worst luck, so along with a stinking cold I had bad tummy pains too I was on the pill before and had really light periods and no rattiness, with the coil it has been alot worse. I'm hoping its because its the first one in a year and they will be better after, but the doc said they may well be worse with the coil not sure I like the idea of that, so I am going to give the coil a go for 6 mths to see how I get on with it.

As regards being pregnant again, I keep getting odd moments of thinking I could do it again but then I come to my senses

Sorry LES, I'm in no need of another pram, I have two single buggies and a twin one as it is I too also have a load of boys clothes that Ben has grown out of already having only worn once, so if anyone is interested... mind you your lo's will all be too big for them too, perhaps we should nip into the ante natal threads and see if anyone is interested

I had some pearl earings and two pairs of Jasper Conran jim jams. Told dh not to get me anything because I have had quite a few presents this past couple of months but he said he had to get me something Sam had tons of stuff, Ben had mainly clothes

Sam has been in the wars the past couple of days, he was standing watching FiL serving up Xmas dinner and managed to plunge his fingers into red hot stuffing, blistering one of them quite badly, so my xmas dinner was spent consoling a panic stricken/screaming toddler which kind of ruined a nice dinner. Luckily he was ok after an hour. Then on Boxing Day night he was playing on the stairs and wouldn't come down when we said, he ended up banging his lip, blood everywhere..., then this morning he fell down the last three steps and banged the corner of his eye...tsk! I'm hoping thats the three all out of the way now

DH is at this moment ripping out walls upstairs Sam keeps shouting down to me 'Mummy..,Daddy...mess' I've not dared go up yet Ben is surprisingly sleeping though all the noise. he has really started chuckling the past day or to which melts my heart

Ejt - hope your visit goes ok with the MiL and she isn't too horrid to you. I tried the online Next sales yesterday but then ended up deleting everything as I realised I was buying for the sake of it and didn't really need it

To everyone else, I hope you all have a fab New Year

Stefka · 28/12/2007 18:14

We bought Dareh a swing today and he bloody hates it. Screams every time we put him in it. I am so gutted as he likes us rocking him so I thought he would love it. DH is going to take it back tomorrow. I think we will just get the chicco chair. It doesn't do anything but it looks comfy to sleep in.

Hope those second jabs were ok alice.

I got my test results back and everything was normal so at least I don't have gall stones. I honestly think it is just stress as I didn't suffer so much when I was away.

Having a glass of wine tonight - very nice.

Stefka · 28/12/2007 18:15

Those of you who have the chicco char - does it lie almost flat like a wee bed?

AnyasMum07 · 28/12/2007 18:27

dd has been a little monkey this afternoon. She didn't feed well this morning so she woke up early for what should have been her 1:30 feed and went into meltdown when it wasn't ready fast enough. Of course once she's crying she's too busy doing that to eat so she just gets hungrier and then more annoyed and then less able to eat, etc... Since then it's been a constant battle of trying to either get her to sleep or to eat. She's now lying in her cot awake but quiet. DH and I are exhausted!

Dalrymps · 28/12/2007 20:07

Hey everyone, hope you all had a nice xmas, will update you on mine properly when i have a few more mins, just a quick question for now.. my ds has always chewed and sucked his hands whenever hungry from birth but the last 5 days or so he has been doing it almost constantly, he keeps sticking 2or 3 fingers right in his mouth and chomping and sucking them, i wouldn't mind but quite often he keeps sticking them in too far and then he retches like he's gonna be sick, thought it could be to do with teething but no dribbling? he's 8 weeks old, any ideas???

OP posts:
EmMcK · 28/12/2007 20:12

Hi Stefka - it lies the flattest of any of the seats that I saw, but is moulded on the sides so they are pretty snug in there. It has a rocking bottom, but also a brace so that you can keep them still if they don't like that, which may be right for Dareh!!
Also, I saw your post on breast feeding tops. H&M are great - about £10 or £15 a top, but when you try them on make sure you check that the opening on the breast is loose enough for when you want to breast-feed. Some of the fake bits of the top are quite tight. I hope this makes sense

ejt1764 · 28/12/2007 20:22

I have a couple of these bf tops, (with long sleeves) and they have been brilliant - they wash wondefully!

The chicco chair doesn't do anything as such, but it will rock if you want it to: it will also lie really flat (it has a sort of pouch-type area for the babe's bum), and has a removable toy bar ... I love ours!

I am having a terrible time with Mairwen's daytime sleeps - basically, she only sleeps for 45 minutes at a time, even though she's tired, the reflux seems to catch her when she comes into her light sleep, and she wakes up screaming (and I mean screaming!) ... trying the baby whisperer pick up / put down method, but without much success - she's had a grand total of 2 1/4 hours sleep today - and it's just taken me 45 minutes to get her back to sleep after she woke from being her first sleep cycle after being put to bed.

Not coping terribly well - am also getting myself into a state about tomorrow ... I don't want to go - and am hoping that I come down with some dreaded lergy which gets me out of it!
Problem is, I don't think dh will keep to his word and stop mil from having a go ... testing times for our marriage, these!

muppetgirl · 28/12/2007 20:25

Hi all

Hope you all had a good Christmas we had a mixed one...

Dh's Gran died on Christmas eve. He was of course upset but hasn't seen her for quite a few years but she was still his Gran. The funeral is tomorrow in Austria and his mum dad and sisters are going and he really wanted to go at first. I couldn't go as both the boys don't have a passport plus Henry has a cold (another reason Christmas wasn't so hot as H kept us awake as he was coughing. We had him in with us as we were worried) when he phoned to speak to his mum about it all the arrangements from their side had been made -flights booked, they were staying at the house and no one had even told him when it was. When he asked if he could stay at the house his mum said she didn't know if that was okay and was evasive. He got off the phone and said that he felt his mum didn't want him to go. He spent boxing day thinking about whether to go and phoned his mum again and she was the same. He then said to me -why was it okay to go to his Grandma's funeral when he wasn't allowed to go to his Grandad's. (That's how strange his family is...) So he decided in the end not to go saying that me and the boys were his family and as we were all still ill we needed him more.
I feel there was some alterior motive for keeping him away as she arranged for his sisters to come, their flight and that they could stay at the house but didn't even tell him when the funeral was!

He was prepared to fly over today, hire a car to drive to the house, go to the funeral tomorrow and fly back in the evening. All his mum said when he told her of his plans was 'well, no one can pick you up from the airport'

I have so much sympathy for her but she is still a cow to my lovely dh!
