Welcome to the chattiest post-natal club on MN!

We spent a year together chatting about all things pregnancy and baby...

...we've tried and tested countless baby products...

...exchanged hundreds of tips...

...talked about all the big things in life, all the little things, the good times and the tough times...

...we had a good laugh together 😁...

...and somehow we now have gorgeous 3 month old babies without looking a day older ourselves 😅 (must be that good laugh!)

@BertieBotts it's probably nothing! I'll keep you posted.

@Jessicapebbles I'm following your Instagram and wow, you must be incredibly busy! You must be super woman to be running that with a baby! Did you say you started it up over the last few months?

biscuitcat · 19/11/2021 14:59

Oh gosh @Daffodil21 how exciting/scary!! Hopefully the test will get clearer in the next few days 🤞

@PurplePansy05 thank you lovely! Those are great ideas - I love Etsy stuff but I'm not sure MIL is tech savvy enough to use it 😂

Jessicapebbles · 19/11/2021 15:27

@Daffodil21 Oh how lovely! I hope you like it!

Very very busy 🤦🏻‍♀️ 4/5 week turn around to make sure I am spending lots of time with Ebony. Xx

Magik01 · 19/11/2021 15:38

@Daffodil21 ohhh!! How exciting, one of my friends got pregnant when her first was 4 months old! Wasn’t planned but how the children are really close. Keep us posted!

@Jessicapebbles I missed what your shop was called, what was it again? Smile

Magik01 · 19/11/2021 15:39

Also ladies there is some jumperoos in the Amazon Black Friday deals that seem like good prices if anyone was on about getting one for Christmas!

Daffodil21 · 19/11/2021 15:55

I've managed to get a short term prescription for progesterone just in case - phew!

@Jessicapebbles yes! Absolutely lovely!

@Magik01 tbf the jumparoo is more a present for us 😂 it's basically how I get my lunch in peace everyday!

Jessicapebbles · 19/11/2021 16:01

@Magik01 it’s @pebbleandpickle on Instagram 🥰🥰 handmade to order!

@Daffodil21 that is really exciting- I am experiencing a few symptoms & no idea when AF is due so I may test over the weekend. X

Daffodil21 · 19/11/2021 16:22

@Jessicapebbles ohhhh keep us posted!!!!

Clear blue have added a flashing light to the end of their tests now! Whatever next 😂 (yes, obviously I was tempted to buy one!)

Jessicapebbles · 19/11/2021 16:26

@Daffodil21 Oh my goodness the suspense would kill me 😂 I’ve not told DH of my suspicions as I think he may genuinely have a heart attack.

I’ve tried to work it out but AF’s we’re 3 weeks apart last month (2 in one month) and now nothing as of yet this month but I’m crampy, excess saliva, weird taste etc xx

lucyrp · 19/11/2021 16:33

Talking of non existent AF's I have a very much so existent AF which is my first post partum. Was hoping not to have them until I stopped BF like I did with my son but clearly that's not happening this time 🥴

wimbler · 19/11/2021 17:36

@Daffodil21 @jessicapebbles how exciting! Do keep us updated and I hope you’re both feeling ok. Tomorrow is a year to the day since my positive test, time has flown.

Ds has come out in a horrid rash today, sent some pictures to the doctor who said it’s just viral and to expect a cold/cough in the coming days. He was quite dismissive which is annoying. So hit and miss with gp’s

WolfMother326 · 19/11/2021 18:10

Question for the group: would you take your baby on a train for 1.5 hours/a day away from home? We are considering doing that tomorrow, so that I can see the house were buying (and not just my husband!) - nervous about covid and colds etc.

Daffodil21 · 19/11/2021 18:21

@Jessicapebbles I have told my DH but he thinks the test is negative (it probably is).

@WolfMother326 yes, I would and I have for literally the whole day twice (journey there and journey back), and will be doing so again at Christmas because I feel he'll be happier on the train than in the car. I managed to keep my distance from others way more than I expected

biscuitcat · 19/11/2021 18:39

@WolfMother326 we've been up to London on the train a couple of times, and would be perfectly happy with him on the train if it's easier than the car. I've not been too worried about covid, but busy-ness of the train might be worth thinking about if you're nervous as the trains we've been on have been packed - are you able to go out of rush hour?

@Jessicapebbles exciting for you too! Keep us updated!

@Magik01 I bought ours for his Xmas pressie the other week, but I'm tempted to get it out now and rewrap in December as he loved the one he tried in playgroup last week so much 😂 I figure he won't really care!

WolfMother326 · 19/11/2021 18:46

Thanks @Daffodil21 and @biscuitcat, that's so helpful. I think we'll do it. Driving sounds much worse. We will try to travel at quiet times and also will spring for first class just this once as might be a bit quieter and less busy. Actually kind of excited for a little adventure as I haven't left London since I was 35 weeks pregnant!

Daffodil21 · 19/11/2021 19:02

@WolfMother326 very exciting for a house viewing!! I hope it goes ok!

Inmypjsagain · 19/11/2021 19:52

I really missed this thread! Every time I’ve been clicking on it I’ve had an error message, it’s like a purse message error or something? So pleased I can see it again!

Was lovely of my mum- I was worried that she’d bought a high chair that maybe wasn’t good value or something but it arrived today and it’s great! I popped him in it and his face was a bit 🤨 (he’s really started raising his left eyebrow at me which is amusing!)

Re: periods I’ve had 2, both 28 days apart on the dot. I thought periods got better post baby but doesn’t seem to be the case for me.

All this sleep regression talk scares me, but thinking about it, his daytime naps have been really short recently, he generally won’t sleep for more than 45 minute bursts during the day at the moment but his night sleeping is unaffected, if anything he’s doing more 12 hours whereas he was doing 11 ish hours before? So I wonder if the not great daytime naps will pass to the night time too?! Let’s see I guess…

@Daffodil21 omg!!!! Exciting!!!!!!!! Keep us posted!

@kagerou welcome! Might be biased but I think this is a great thread 😊

Inmypjsagain · 19/11/2021 19:56

And I’ve just looked an amazon for jumperoos, I don’t think I really knew what they were… but £70 on offer for more garish plastic! 😂 I told my mum I wanted to get wooden toys and she said all parents say that, all kids want is lots of bright coloured plastic. She says the same about the Instagram scandi nurseries, that they’re for the parents and not the kids. So am I just going to have to accept our place is going to look a bit…. Messy…. For a good few years!!!

Inmypjsagain · 19/11/2021 20:23

Sorry I’m spamming again but I’ve just seen a thread that’s started for July/August 2022 babies! That’s blown my mind. That was us a year ago! I was in the TWW this time last year I think? So much has changed since that positive test 🤯🤯🤯

lucyrp · 19/11/2021 21:22

@Inmypjsagain yep lots of garish plastic with flashing lights and annoying sounds 🙃🙃 if you're into more insta worthy toys look you the "Steiner" and "montessori" learning ways and toys they suggest

PurplePansy05 · 19/11/2021 23:45

@wimbler hope he feels better soon ❤ I hate the dismissive 'it's a virus', ok, thanks, but is he actually ok? They don't seem to give you much info, do they. Hope he fights off whatever is bothering him quickly xx

@WolfMother326 I'd definitely take DS too, especially that it's your future house. You definitely have to see it together.

@biscuitcat Go ahead with re-wrapping. Rowan will never know and will be delighted anyway! Santa coming twice has to be a good thing Grin xx

@lucyrp Oh nooo, how come AF has returned for you already?! This really sucks. I forgot what AF feels like and never want to remember. I was convinced bf would give us at least 6 months off. 😪

@Inmypjsagain Do you have any friends that could lend you a jumperoo? We did that instead of buying. Regarding toys, I suppose they will be attracted to bright colours which sadly might mean more plastic. I didn't go with an insta-type nursery or toys, Leo's is painted in bright colours and patterns and he's really started noticing it now. It is quite a contrast to the rest of the house which is a mix of Nordic/Hamptons style, but I'm OK with that. It's his happy space and I know his toys will spread everywhere eventually, but as long as he's happy, that's fine. I'm well over my vision of a perfect home 😂

I would also say if you have any vintage shops around you, you can often find second hand wooden toys there - and they are painted in bright colours. I bought quite a few for Leo, total bargains at £2.50 each and they'll last forever. Best of both worlds IMO, fun and sustainable. I personally think that ideally all toys should be recycled. xx

@Inmypjsagain have you looked on marketplace? Ours was £10. I just steralised the F out of it!

Currently trying to hold going to the loo for at least another half hour. Takes me right back to almost exactly a year ago 😂😱

Daffodil21 · 20/11/2021 07:25

Negative! Just a dodgy test I think!

lucyrp · 20/11/2021 08:12

@Inmypjsagain oh yeah just to add we bought our jumperoo off Facebook for £15!

@PurplePansy05 I have no idea 😫 I'm gutted, I didn't have them for the whole time I BF DS so not sure why they've come back so soon. I haven't had any pain with it yet just the bleeding which is odd. I did have a day where I was awfully stiff and in pain about 2 weeks which stemmed from my womb area which thinking now could have been ovulation ??🤷🏼‍♀️
